I have also just discovered unrefined shea, butter, which is brilliant, works so well with my hair and ECO Styler Gel (No.8, Yellow Jar). Recently learnt the importance of prepoo etc, etc. Anyway... I just subscribed to your channel so hopefully we can give each other tips and learn from each other on how best to care for our natural hair.
Hi, I am a new youtuber here in the UK, and just stumbled on your videos. I am really excited because finally, (from what I have seen so far) you and I have the "exact" hair type. Finally I have found someone with my hair! 18 months ago I had to just brace myself and do the big chop because my hair was so badly damaged from uneducated hair care routines followed by chemical processes, I only had approx. 1/2", of regrowth and I held onto my long straggly ends for as long as I possibly could.
Your hair is pretty..,and I love Deitrick Haddon! I don't know if you've tried it already, but with your texture, it would be cute as a twist braid set with wrap or setting lotion and then taken aloose..Good job!
thanx for getting back to me i really am greatful for the insight , Funny my Mother said the same thing you did and she also seems to think i will get the same results but just slower thanx again I m excited for you ! Be Blessed !
O.k. so you didnt do the B.C. right ? you just trans. to natural from your last perm ? the reason i am asking is i am a little nervous about cutting my hair but my get this my hair is EL (Ear Length) what would you suggest?
I didn't BC, I'm just letting the perm grow out by cutting my ends a little at a time as my hair grow. It will be 1 year since my last perm next month and I'm still not ready to cut the rest of my perm off. Do what's comfortable for you. You don't have to cut it yet.
A "BC" is what transitioners refer to as a Big Chop this is when you opt for a quick transition and cut all your chemically processed hair until there is only natural hair remaining. Some people prefer to trim the chemical ends little by little as they go on with their transition this takes more time, but has the same end result. FREEDOM!
your hair is nice, im in my 6th month as well and too scared to BC. i never let my hair show anymore for lack of ideas of what to do with it. thankfully, u just gave me some :)
So are you going to transition until Feb2010? I was thinking I would BC this year in Dec, but now I'm having second thoughts due to the length not being where I want it and plus I have a really busy work schedule coming up in Jan. (I actually did a test cut for length and it is soo short).I'm in my 6th mth now and have been bunning and ponytailing mostly. How about an update?:)
I probably will transition until Feb '10. I'm want more length before I cut it also. I'm working on an update. I haven't been doing anything different though. Just giving my hair a rest and letting it grow.
There's a product called Wild Growth Hair Oil. You can get it at Sally's and other beauty supply stores. It has olive oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil, vitamins, and minerals in it.

o and im also transitioning! im in my 5th month though........my problem seems to be my addiction to my flatiron! lol

We are pretty much at the same time line with transitioning. Do you have any problems with breakage or shedding a lot? Your hair is pretty :)
Dawnyele 3 years ago
I have lots of breakage and shedding. When transitioning breakage is inevitable but I try to minimize it by not combing it too much.
Sweetbrown45 3 years ago
i'm also in my 6th month. Very nice progress. How are you dealing with the textures?
danniekins 3 years ago
I try not to manipulate too often. I'm looking to try a protective style like kinky twists extensions.
Sweetbrown45 3 years ago
when do you plan to BIg Chop?
