I'm from the UK and we drove past the park last year on a Theme Park trip, after an excursion to New Orleans. It was very sad to see such a great looking wooden coaster just sitting there, rotting away :(
All of this happened because of Hurricane Katrina, the park's drainage system failed and was abandoned from 2005 to 2012 were taken Batman ridller attractions and more of the park the park is not reopened because of problems with the insurer and the park remained abandoned no intention of reopening!
@Tecnolover93 Wood boards wouldn't stand a chance against a catagroy 5 hurricane..... .-.' The strong rushing water would tear down those wooden boards anyways.
sad this country gives up on everything we lost the tower's they don't rebuild them we lost this great six flags they don't rebuild it that's say's alot about the direction that this country is headed

@dmanswish no they all are still there nothing has moved ecpt the bat man ride I think cuz it was high above the water. but new orleans messed up wanting to charge Nickelodeon 2 mill for the park sitting there for all these years and made them pull out of the deal.
the theme park six flags wont be up and running anytime soon!! my husband just went to new orleans not to long ago to fix our lawyers house and our lawyer told him that the property was up for sale to get it rebulit but no one wants to take the chance of doing it because of the fear of another hurricane hiting new orleans and because it to much of a risk for money lost.... so sorryy!! the park is closed n its gonna be for a while
@dmanswish But what changed people's mind about thinking if it's terrible is to see that they had the buildings on the entrance to be rebuilt for a movie. Now, they are going to change everything in 2012 or 2013 because Souther Star Amusement is planning of rebuilding the park with a bigger and better land. So the entrance sign will no longer say "Closed for storm"!!!! :D
