  • massive,, yes , he was stone cold sober,, a genius folks...

  • The wolf didn't drink before his shows.

  • of course he was drunk i mean hes a bluesman aint he???

  • wow! a lot of uptight comments! whats the deal with so much anger? get a life & enjoy the music!

  • i take 49 everyday ...the longest road in mississippi

  • this is why the USA is king

  • @TheInboil im not a "native american" but th blues was is US made, n proud

  • that goddamn woman got me walkin'

  • Da Wolf didn't drink before shows. Check out his biography. Had the hardest life of any bluesman: his MAMA kicked him out before his teen years!

  • I don't know. He does have that drunk look. And the timing between his stare and the mention of his appreciation seemed a bit off too..

  • Wolf+Hubert=Magic!

  • This is amazing

  • Love Howlin ripped or not this is the real shit.

  • I love howlin' but the man is ripped here and I still love him.

  • @monktrane325

    What do you mean ripped?

He was always sober, if that's what you mean. That's why he was rich and his peers weren't.

  • absolutely incredible. This is the best video of The Wolf. The videography is not bad either, we get a lot of close-ups to take a gander at that famous skin of his.

  • i fuckn love it!!

  • Ok nobody can deny that he is a legend but he is drunk as a skunk =)

  • Ok nobody can deny that he is a legend but he is drunk as a skunk =)

  • The Wolf was a 100%, blood and guts badass. That's all.

  • The Wolf crushes all written word, machines, and even rock. The Wolf shows that he can even come back from the dead and crush you. I believe that is Hubert Sumlin on guitar and it may be Willie Dixon on keys - if it weren't for these folks, music would be very different.

  • Wolf is not drunk, he is in total control of the stage.

  • The Wolf is the BLUES.

  • The master!

  • he looks younger here than he did in 1965

  • I'm going to make my unborn child listen to this shit.

  • @RankAndFileGuy Hope you got a good one?Just discovering it and being "re-born".

  • none better HOWLIN

  • This song is not by howlin wolf. It's by a singer called the tail dragon-please edit title.

    Thanksx

  • It's just not fair is it? People forty, fifty years ago got musicians like, Howlin' Wolf, Fred McDowell, John Lee Hooker and all those other great Blues artists. Who do I get as a young man? Justin Bieber, N-Dubz, and countless other anonymous clones.

  • @Unpackthat you should check out Blind Boy Paxton. i share your grief and i find he is the closest thing to a real blues player we have today.

  • @Unpackthat Wolf will always be here little brother... and so will Muddy

  • @Unpackthat

Quit looking for The Biebs to satisfy, check out The Black Keys, R.L. Burnside, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion ... so many more, man. There is only one Wolf, though.

  • @Dieselcrunch there is still a great blues scene in Cincinnati . People should check it out if they truly love the blues . The Wolf died long ago but his spirit and the blues lives on in Cincinnati

  • Drunk or not the Wolf is the best entertainer of all the Blues man and most fun to watch. He's the REAL DEAL.

  • You can keep on watching him sing, and feel the music with your eyes!

  • What a rhythm section

  • He's playing with his physicality all the time in other footage, like a man born to act... so he's probably well capable of playing a good drunk.. or a bad one... it fits perfectly with the song... credit him with the brains to devise this incredible little show, i.e. this is an artist working his bollocks off, not some old drunkard. Not that he'll be that bothered about it either way now.

  • I doubt he's drunk, Wolf liked to clown around like that when he had a crowd... check out the live at Newport.

  • HOWLIN at it's best!

  • Listen to that tone! Not many notes played by Wolf on harp, but what tone. He didnt need many notes to play. I love his tone!!

  • he's just drunk as a skunk, the great Chester Arthur Bernet AKA Howlin' Wolf

  • @arthurbissolotti Ummm...drunk? I read and heard that he wouldnt allow his band to drink before any gig but after and that included himself. Maybe I read wrong or heard wrong after serveral review. Oh well.

  • @cedricleecason Yeah, you are probably right, he was very professional, however you have to agree with me, he seems to be on something....................... hell, we'll never know man!!!!

  • @arthurbissolotti I think you're confusing excitement and enthusiasm for narcotics

  • When the Wolf howls, everything stops in the forest and listen to overtake.

  • You can tell he must have been drinking but ol' tail dragger got it though.

  • wolf was on full in this video

  • What a great clip! Can almost forgive the bass player for being so out of tune!!!

  • Let's go ,Wolf, I got shotgun. Pedal to the metal, bluesman

  • "you got the right tail dragger tonight"

    classic Wolf !!

  • The big Eazy! The Only Real Blues in The World . Howlin-Wolf ! ! !

  • A lesson to all youngsters out there.

  • @maxitismakedon That's true! Another thing that makes me laugh is that a lot music was dubbed the "devil's music". Today most of the people thinks this name should go with all the brutal kind of heavy metal music, played by ridiculous people dressed like idiots with spikes, bones, fake blood and shit, trying to look and sound mean...then you think about a man like Howlin' Wolf, who surely did not care about looking mean and evil, but he could have scared them silly kids to death...

  • Classic wolf footage when he just gettin a small taste of the crossover period during the late 60's and early 70's. Classic.

  • Blues at it's finest.

  • this guy looks creepy... this what i call blues man...

  • Once again , 100% brilliant

  • big bad woooooooof huffin n' puffin the blues what a character... 4:09... 7:40 haha

  • My God what a Showman .This is the Real SHIT

  • @atomicguitar123 People that play the blues look like nobody. That's what makes the blues so damn great it's played by people that have nothing and look the part

  • @freebird1974

What do you mean had nothing? The Wolf was very successful. He was a smart businessman and made a lot of money. He was proud of that. It's a stereotype that these black musicians weren't able to make any money.

  • @ktrfeb23 Ok let me rephrase it he came from nothing EXCUSE ME. Most blues musicians came from hard lives, that's why they play the blues so well and I WASN'T referring to his skin color EVEN though the blues is prominently black . Ever heard of Steve Ray Vaughn? He's white or Johnny Lange or even better yet Eric Clapton

Ruth Brown was fuckin huge in the 50's but bad business deals fucked her over. She built Atlantic Records but got absolutely nothing from it.

  • @ktrfeb23 so before you run your fuckin mouth think first cause your makin me out to be a fuckin racist towards blacks musicians and that aint the case OK

  • @freebird1974

I'm making you out to be somebody who don't know what you're talking about and making this great musician out to be just another stereotype. You used the word racist. The word I would use is ignorant. Are you happier with that?

  • ► Hi. It came from Howlin Wolf: In Concert 1970 ~ Howlin Wolf (DVD - Aug 27, 2007)
