I am surprised and disappointed that there are no comments on this video. Thaddeus Stevens was the most aggressive anti slavery figure in his time, more so than Abraham Lincoln. He did not get along well with Lincoln because Lincoln was, in his opinion, too moderate against slavery. Both men were members of the Republican Party because the Republicans were the party of abolition, equal citizenship and voting rights. If we remember the Republic they stood for, we can heal our country.

@ReppaBlicken there are comments--you know there is an irony he is called "The scourge of the south" and many white southerners still hate him but he hated the white planters!! he was "The great leveller"

poor white southerners would have fared better had he lived longer--and Black folk sould know more about this great man!!
