  • joe cocker is full blown bat shit crazy, good song though.

  • Dare I say better than the Beatles done did the song....just sayin

  • I'm sure if you put him in a school uniform w/cap and gave him a guitar he could fit in ACDC very well :P

    besides that, much respect

  • LOVE!!! Thank you SO MUCH for uploading! =)

  • Rock 'n Roll orgasm! 5:11

  • The Wonder Years theme song ftw..

  • Joe Cocker = Inventor of the Air Guitar

  • BEATLES VERSION......BYE BYE

  • Now this is gospel, and everything else in between.

  • I see and hear more character, passion, heart, soul and emotion in one verse of this than anything from the auto-tuned, over produced, soulless, dollar driven slop called modern music.

  • @milkenobi Well said. We've come to a (sad) place in the life of our country that mediocrity is to be embraced and praised instead of saying it like it is. People dismiss comments such as yours as "cranky old man hating on the younger generation" cliche'...and in the process, miss out on so much beauty and truth.

  • @longchenpath Thank you. Also, I'm only 32. I used to tour in a band. I played for over 10 years & travelled all over America (I'm am Aussie). It was common for me to perform in front of many thousands. It was sad to see big-time bands book into the Refinery in Nashville & rehearse every move, song, quip, lighting cue etc before a tour. Most bands rely on more pre-recorded tracks than musicians on stage to be able to recreate their over produced CD & still don't nail it like this.

  • givin it all. awesome.

  • One of the most exciting woodstock bits. I thought the same at the time i first saw the film in 1970... although being a BEATLES' fanatic i didn't like very much the way Cocker's band played it. I thought of it as an ...insult ! But...nevertheless...

  • @theo9952 This is way better than Beatles' version imo.

  • @Murreh

Ι don't think there can be a comparison between the two. I think of it as a different song with -almost- the same lyrics. The melodic line is quite altered, especially in the chorus part and the beat as well as the arrangement bears no resemblance to the original.

  • fuck yes

  • What a fracking great cover.....Joe you are the best!

  • The Wonder Years

  • that's the third and final drummer for gentle giant.... i think..... john weathers

  • I went and watched the beatles version and couldn't last but 45 seconds... I put this on repeat and listen to it for HOURS

  • @derma95

I think i understand why you feel this way... but there is vast scope and vision in the music of the beatles especially after 1965. And this song -the beatles original - is part of one of the greatest albums in the history of rock... and not only. But maybe you will realise this on your own... as you get older.

  • 60's Karl Pilkington @ 4.30

  • Siempre superó la versión de los Beatles, tiene fuerza !!!!

  • GDhaenens, definately Densmore at 4:30

  • he looks so fuckign stoned

  • 0:00 "Right on dog... bark for your freedom!"

  • Y'know, today's "neo-soul" really needs to be re-labeled "pseudo-soul" when you compare it with this. As a black man, it makes me ashamed to hear an epileptic, white Englishman with more soul in his spastic left toe than D'Angelo's entire, overrated musical catalog. Sure, he sings circles around ol' Joe from a technical standpoint, but the idea that he'd be thought a more worthy heir to Ray Charles or Aretha Franklin than this guy or even (god help us) Michael McDonald just makes me sad.

  • One of the best live performances captured on film.

  • why do you think its a cover? just because beatles writed and recorded before joe?

if it was me who composed that song, i'll never play it again, deny that i performe it, burn all the related material and kill everyone that know it

  • Nunca tinha visto tanto sentimento na minha vida!!!

  • simplismente do caralhooooooo,muito bom,me arrepia

  • One of the most succesful cover ever. A legendary performance...

  • That´s also my mind... better than the beatles version... absolute amazing ...Cocker brought so much in this song ... TOP-Class Song ... yesterday, now and in the future !!

  • @zappa099 I fully agree with you, wonderful version which cancels the Beatles' one

  • Let's get stoned, music is the dope :-)

  • Hobbits meet Rock & Roll

  • his voice is so beautiful, omg it's like an angel!

  • guitar lines made by jimmy page =)

  • @cac1987fcb

True? How did you know that?

  • @MBXChquer jimmy page was the lead guitar in studio version. find it in wikipedia ;)

  • @cac1987fcb

Duh! Had never thought to check. Cheers! I always wondered who was the genius behind that guitar. Shouldn't have been surprised really. Thanks!

  • @MBXChquer ur welcome man....lol yeah that was jimmy ;)

  • this is one of the best covers/live performances of any song ever. And fuck, I really want to grow chops like those.

  • wow, una performance estupenda!

  • Años maravillosos.

  • Excellent!

  • I wonder why--assuming every second of every performance at Woodstock was filmed (why wouldn't it have been since they were making a movie?)--have they never packaged all of the complete performances of every band for sale to the many people who would LOVE to see the entire sets of people like Joe Cocker, The Grateful Dead (who don't make it into the film at all except for a cameo of Jerry talking), and the dozens of other bands who played? Curious

  • @dantean I recall some of bands just not sounding that good . Not easy coming on after Joe. Big storm came shortly after this performance if my memory is still good.

  • @dantean america landed on the moon too same year.............amazing

  • That scream at 5:13

is worth more then what our world accomplished throw wars, throw religion, throw technology

    throw hate.

that scream is this guys soul showing the world who to love, how to care, how to live in peace.

this performance makes me believe that humanity still has some hope.

  • A BIG Fuck you to the 7 ignorant assholes who disliked this!

  • 4:28 I died of laughter. On another note, this is amazing

  • I just love this.

  • Cockers soul letting loose, awesome

  • We need someone like this in music again. Phenomenal voice. Chills every time I listen to it.

  • that back vocal never ceases to crack me up:)

  • One of the few occasions where the cover is miles better than the original. Classic moment in human history I think. That may sound OTT but the positive vibes from this performance are phenominal.

  • @cfeastuk Damn right !

  • acid is one hell of a drug. and so is this song =D

  • This song is the answer. It is the truth. The key. It. Why don't more people get it?

  • i got this impression that joe cocker's sideburns get bigger everytime i see them in the video

  • A classic of music with respect to a great singer

  • Masterpiece.

  • Is he high on drugs or music, maybe both actually?

  • @franga95 He's performing at Woodstock and wearing a tie-dye shirt... He's got to be wasted.

  • @TenWhoWereTaken and how is that any of your business

  • @12bulldogger What a pointless comment. It's speculation about the state of inebriation of an artist performing on stage. If he didn't want that then he shouldn't have performed high. It's not like I was commenting about where his kids went to school or anything. There's no need to get so indignant over a man you never knew and never will.

  • @TenWhoWereTaken How come everybody thinks that Woodstock was a drug fest .It was more about the music and peace.( people getting along with each other) My concern while there was food, water, sleep and how I was going to get home.Drugs were just a part of it.

  • @goodthing52 Yeah, the events have blatantly been mythologised and distorted by the media. I don't doubt that people have got it all wrong.

I was just making a joke and playing up to the stereotypes though...
