That is why it is so funny to me, to hear people talking about no drivers that are to be installed. Of course not, if there are just some pieces of hardware that need to be supported it is easy to pre-install them all.

I've used OS X, Linux, various Unix versions and a whole bunch of other weird operating systems. There is just nothing out there that lets you get as much work done as Windows. I fixed my friend's 10 year old desktop running Win 2000 today, used the recovery console and had it fixed, up and running in an hour with all files, programs and drivers intact. When my Mac crashed, I had to wipe everything out and reinstall the whole OS. Not to mention all the free software you can get for Windows.

NEVER get a laptop for a main computer

1. They are only for mobility not for home use because you pay extra for an outdated processor

2. IF you get a desktop BUILD IT!!! i saved myself over 700 bucks for building my own computer. its like legos so dont worry if you dont know how to build a computer. theres plenty of TUTS out there

3.NEVER get a laptop for gaming. a gaming computer is a desktop. a gaming laptop is NOT a gaming laptop because you cant update the graphics card every six months

@komahoby laptop will never be a match for a desktop!!! for gaming, desktops are the best, they always have the newest and best technology in the market. if you were buying a laptop though, you want a dedicated card so your memory wont be shared to the graphics card. and if you want to play games you will still have an option even though it will not be at max settings. its not meant for gaming.

Both my MacBook and my iMac were well worth the money. I don't see why so many people bash the cost of a Mac. You get what you pay for. And why are PCs so cheap? Same reason. You get what you pay for.

PCs are loaded up with crapware. Unless you completely reinstall windows, it's difficult to uninstall these BS programs. I use every application that came with my Mac, and it wasn't a trial!

I also love that I can have multiple windows open without my computer freezing/crashing on a Mac.

That is exactly how I feel with my Mac. I actually read on PCWorld that PCs can infact be more expensive when they have the same stats as a Mac and the same software (Adobe something = iMovie etc).

Plus Expose is a great way to shift between windows :D

I use both Macs and PCs and I gotta say that PC's ability to attract 3rd party developers really makes a difference in quality software.

Apple's MobileMe (especially BackToMyMac) , Timecapsule and encryption are terrible. PC's 3rd party alternatives work a lot better, even VISTA's built in tools are better then OS X.

But then PCs don't have SSH and x windows. OS X is FreeBSD with a Apple GUI. I can download, compile and configure applications on Mac OS X using SSH.
