Love Diabetes: What's the controversy of Dr.Faustman's Cure?

Keel Pharmaceuticals had licensed intellectual property from Massachusetts General Hospital for the purposes of commercializing drug therapies based on Dr. Faustman's research. That intellectual property and Keel's research efforts were not related to the Phase I clinical BCG trial. Keel is no longer in business. Dr. Faustman does not currently have any active commercialization programs related to this research.

First off jazzinfour In that article on Google it gives very little info on there study. Almost nothing. What doses did they use? It doesn't say. Even when the JDRF tried to reproduce Dr. Faustman's, and mind you they did a half-assed job, they got results. Hers shows promise. But only time will tell.

Faustman appears to be a fraud.

She is partner and co-owner of Keel Pharmaceutical, earning money for her so-called research. This research has already been done, including human trials from 1995 to 2000 by the Barbara Davis Institute. The study was called:

Effect of Bacillus Calmette-Guerin vaccination on new-onset type 1 diabetes.

Google it and read.

There is no effect from treatment with BCG.

being in business of diabetes is sort of like being a mob boss...one day you will be dead or in jail. Oh, and the JDRF needs to be disbanded, get rid of it, it does NOTHING for any diabetic but give little kids false hope and happy commercials. A cure for diabetes will never be mass marketed. Drug companies, doctors,and all of the others that profit from diabetes will not allow a cure. WAKE UP and realize there will never be a cure for Diabetes.Unless you are a lab rat....

A positive attitude and hope isn't going to cure diabetes. There will never be a cure simply because it is not profitable to cure diabetes! End of story!

Obviously the true meaning of the word cure is not in your vocabulary or it's a concept beyond your comprehension. Much like in the case of the JDRF and others who take money and produce "Treatments" rather than cures.

wow, nice to see other folks who recognize BigPharma for what they are. ( Evil ) The JDRF though not evil has turned tissue replacement therapy into a religion. The problem that they had with Dr. Faustmans cure was that since she did not use pig islets or stem cells she was committing heresy. The JDRF's #1 job should be to put themselves out of business. Instead they backstab folks who are getting real results.

Great Post, I have had type1 for 30 years now, and from what I've read Dr. Faustman's approach is the most unselfish. I like the fact that she is not gearing her work toward treating diabetes (as most scientists do in order to retain and continue funding), for her it's all about CURING type1! She tends to get her research grants from people that want this disease cured (Lee Iacocca - you are the man!). We NEED A CURE SOON!

JDRF are sounding a little suspicious, are they trying to find an angle for more profit with synthetic BCG?? An explanation please JDRF, perhaps we should get someone from the inside of JDRF give us an insight and reconfirm my/our suspicions?

I work for a medical company who make sleep apnea machines, they made me realize even more its about 99% profit and 1 % care,its understandable as the business forces are huge, this disease provides jobs and contributes to economy same can be said for diabetes, until one becomes one.Diabetes is obviously different, sleep apnea is usually due to lifestyle type 1 is not. When I think about it the forces to keep the diabetes business is huge and influential a lot like oil companies.

Business of Diabetes? < These two words shouldn't be together, but there you are it's about profit out of misery. Although I should say I realize type 1 isn't the worst disease in the world it is however a disease which causes the worsted diseases in the world. More power to Dr. Faustman and team. Hopefully she goes all the way without any interference from the "business of diabetes" if you know what I mean.

I'm glad I found this upload as I've been reading on Dr. Faustman's research for some time. I can't wait to see the results of the trials. Fingers crossed. More uploads on this subject very welcomed J
