@bignoa Waianae had the record for OIA championships til recently so they were the standard in the 80s and 90s, and they did make it to the OIA championship in 98 thats where they got the second loss to Kahuku I know cause I played in that game.

Another thing too is that there is TOO much favoritism in the program..How is the Assistant A.D. Kaluhiookalani sons this years starting QB's of both the JV and VARS?

They also have some unproven kids coaching the JV team. Napireala-Rose? How is he a good example of a coach? He got into a fight his senior year, did not play against Castle and they lost the game. How is that kid supposed to teach kids about teamwork and team first?

Matsumoto probably saved his job last year by making it to the State Finals. The team had a final record of 6-8!! 6 AND 8!!! They would have been 4-7 after losing to Leilehua in the playoffs; which would have sent them packing. if they it wasnt for a clerical error on Kahuku's part they would not have even tasted the first round of the states. Matsumoto 11 yrs at WHS = Riley Wallace 20 yrs at UH.....Both holding a program hostage with their .500 average record.

Matsumoto is a good coach, probably not a good head coach at the varsity level. People forget that he guided the J.V. program to like 4 OIA titles in a row in the 90's. He inherited a good team his first year in 2000, so it looked like he was a genius that year.

I know coach Matsumoto he coached (was th D.C.) when I played. I have nothing personal against him, but I truly believe it is time for a change. It is time to let some one else guide the program.
