Rush thrive on being technical! in a way thats also their fault cos people dont give a crap! only die hard music geeks care and analyse. AC/DC are "the peoples band" simple and catchy always wins! Huge bass solos and random licks would sound retarded in an AC/DC track, its a rhythm instrument! not a lead guitar

My influnces and favorite music came in from my teens to 20's which we're you guys,Nazareth, Sabb, Priest,Scorps,Journey,Zepp,Van Halen,Accept, Saxon,Styx,Rainbow,etc.I posted a song I did recently as AC/DC meets Nazareth ..I'm 47 and just did my first real original show in Syracuse NY where I saw your Back In Black tour at the war memorial in 1980.

He has been capable of playing incredibly simple things, simple, but perfect for AC/DC, for almost 40 years now... WITHOUT GETTING BORED OF DOING SO.

I don't think any of those fast, technical players could have done that. Musical technique is one thing, but doing this takes some serious musical drive...

Yeah I know. Geddy has influenced a ton of horrible prog/metal bass players with 6 string bass guitars. But those of them who are wise, can also appreciate a dude like Cliff. If you tried to implement a Geddy-like style into any style of music, you would never get any work. Some people actually prefer the bass player to lay down the low end and not sound like a frustrated guitar player. And Geddy has more style? He used to play geek-prog-rock and know he plays lame alternative soft rock. Please

I've heard plenty of you amateur bass players on youtube and none of you know a thing about rhythm and locking in with the drummer. Geddy does what is best for Rush, JPJ did what was best for the Led and Cliff WIlliams does what is best for AC/DC. They all understand that and that is why they are all successful. He isn't too flashy, he just takes the time to write complex, melodic basslines unlike Cliff. He keeps in complete rhythm with Peart while playing incredibly hard things, and he sings at the same time. Geddy is so much technically better, holds the beat better, and has influenced so many other musicians than cliff. Cliff has no style or originality
