I still remember this from seeing the show when I was a kid. I love ManTran, but I enjoy this line up with Laurel better. Shame about the accident she was in, but glad she is still performing. Would love to see the footage of her singing with the other 3 in 2004 at the MAC awards. She posted a picture of them on her website.
It should be amazing. It's Laurel Masse. As great as the Manhattan Transfer are, I'm also of the school of thinking that they've never been the same without her. Ironically they didn't start winning all those awards until after she quit due to a serious car accident. Search out her blogsite - she's a highly articulate and intelligent woman, and still sounds great and going strong. I love you, Laurel.

No disrespect to later Transfer music, but I LOVE Laurel and think their sound was more, well, Lush, with her in it. That's a tough song, wonderfully song!
With no disrespect to Laurel, I think Manhattan Transfer greatly improved when Laurel left the group. And how dare the poster of this video remove my original response to MaryShelley's insulting comment to Manhattan Transfer and Cheryl Bentyne. It's a an honest and fair opinion and response. Why don't you remove MaryShelley72's comment. You don't play fair Enrique!
Amazing I have never come across this video before. What a performance, easily the best of this difficult song that I have ever heard. Obviously done when she was still with Manhattan Transfer, but do you know, Sergios, whether it was part of a TV series or what?
I am so glad to hear a version that in my opinion comes closest to emotional nuances Strayhorn probably wanted ie his composition. It made me think even less of Linda Ronstadt's or yes, the great Nat King Cole's take of the song.
Thank God she knows the difference between "distengue" and "distant gay"...I hate to hear the original lyric to this classic screwed up! Excellent rendition, by the way...hard to say who adds more to Transfer - Laurel or Cheryl?

Excellent interpretation. She does seem drunk, or acting drunk, but that works for the song.

She sang this well, but what I really love is that beautiful classic outfit. Really lovely.

Are those lyrics good or what ? Apart from visiting gay places.
The piano should be thrown into the Hudson or the Mersey. I mean the instrument not the pianist.
The singer has no chance. She can hold a difficult tune. The plebs dont appreciate that.
