(looks) this is not nessesary for the dogs all it does is put them threw pain for a few hours. the only thing you would need to trim is nails

Meanwhile most dog breeds were selected by humans whether for their abilities or for their physical features, this means that some dog breeds may have physical traits that are inconvenient or even dangerous for the dog while doing the activity he is supposed to do. It's obviously that this procedure can cause harm if done improperly, specialy if cut when the dog is older. But just like many stuff we cut or pierce in humans (circuncision, piercings, etc.) it's a procedure that cause no physical or phycological harm to the dog, for some is esthetical for others isn't. (Remember wolfs have a thick almost 3 inches long fur, and some dog breed doesn't.)

The practice of docking a dog's tail is not necessary and cruel. The practice of cutting the Rottie's tail was when it was used on farms to pull wagons. The tail interfered with the pulling of the wagons. In most cases, these animals are not on farms and therefore many people use this as a cosmetic practice. The practice of cutting dog's tails and ears should be made illegal.
Regarding the owning a gun issue: This is only true because of two reasons.
1) Idoits dont know how to use the gun/store it.

When done at the right age, it doesn't cause any problems. i'm sorry, but this is HORRIBLE!!! i am a breeder and understand the need for dew claw removal and tail docking in some breeds but his is not how it should be done!! tail docking should be done BEFORE 5 days of age. these pups are weeks old. by this age the pups can feel the pain of the procedure and could possible bleed to death or die of infection if it is done incorrectly.

Although I am entirely against tail docking, administrating anesthesia is a dangerous thing to do, especially to puppies. In terms of surgery, the benefits out way the risks that come with anesthesia. But for tail docking, a fairly no complications but painful procedure it is never recommended. They should STOP tail docking altogether. Poor puppies.

The real problem is that the pups are too old. It should be done, at the very latest, within the first week. Some breeds usually do have their tails docked but it isn't required unless they're show dogs. Some breeds do need their tails like greyhounds.
A dog can do its job perfectly find wether it has a tail or not. This isn't the 17th century where people used dogs to actually attack game. hunters use guns or bows to take the animal down. Docking is rediculous in any breed in this day and age.

Thats not rite, puppys shouldnt have their tails docked when they are that old without some kind of numbing or anesthesia. 3 to 5 days old max. And you should have a professional, licensed vet do it. Why would you risk something going wrong just for a Cosmetic change?

The practice of docking a dog's tail is not necessary and cruel. The practice of cutting the Rottie's tail was when it was used on farms to pull wagons. The tail interfered with the pulling of the wagons. In most cases, these animals are not on farms and therefore many people use this as a cosmetic practice. The practice of cutting dog's tails and ears should be made illegal.

Most people today, however, don't do it for that reason.

@atltallone907 LOTS of places still have working dogs. People use dogs for hunting, for herding their livestock, and for other jobs that injuries can occur in. When done at the right age, it doesn't cause any problems. Just think about it... procedure done during first few days of age that they won't remember, or an EXTREMELY painful tail injury after getting stepped on by a cow?
However, these people waited too late and I'm definitely not condoning this specific situation.

Wow. I am for docking the tails of certain breeds for health reasons, but this is ridiculous! It should have been done within the first 96 hours after birth. These people should be arrested for animal cruelty. If it MUST be done after more than 96 hours have passed it needs to wait until they can be sedated, and then because it is so dangerous it MUST be done by a vet. This makes me want to vomit.

i'm sorry, but this is HORRIBLE!!! i am a breeder and understand the need for dew claw removal and tail docking in some breeds but his is not how it should be done!! tail docking should be done BEFORE 5 days of age. these pups are weeks old. by this age the pups can feel the pain of the procedure and could possible bleed to death or die of infection if it is done incorrectly.

Although I am entirely against tail docking, administrating anesthesia is a dangerous thing to do, especially to puppies. In terms of surgery, the benefits out way the risks that come with anesthesia. But for tail docking, a fairly no complications but painful procedure it is never recommended. They should STOP tail docking altogether. Poor puppies.

The real problem is that the pups are too old. It should be done, at the very latest, within the first week. Some breeds usually do have their tails docked but it isn't required unless they're show dogs. Some breeds do need their tails like greyhounds.
