I am sorry to say I only recently discovered Joe Dolan and literally just found out he died.. what a great singer and the song Make me an Island is one of the greatest ever.
A great song from Joe Dolan and a treasure to include in My Favourite's.I will always remember seeing him coming on stage in his white suit in St.Mary's Hall in Portadown one Year's Eve night.I can't remember the year but it would have been around 1968/70.His opening song that night was "Your Such A Good Looking Woman".Sadly,it was the only time I can recall seeing him on stage,but it was a night to remember.

I travelled back to London from Ireland with Joe as a fellow passenger. We chatted about music throughout the whole flight. He invited me and my sister to be his guests at the show that night, but unfortunately we couldn't go as we had just buried our Mum.
