  • one of the few characters in the league who was a good man : P

  • i forgot how amazingly laugh out loud funny this show was!

  • Creme Brulee; the group 10cc could have been.

  • Good Acting

  • LOL!

  • It's fate is that !!!

  • "This is where you shit your pants int it Jay?"

  • Nice post Dumplingmaster, very well put

  • LOL HARD!!!!!.....These are comedy genious.........very funny.....papalazarouuu...is that dave!!! Haton in Derbyshire is the village where they filmed it.....it is a real nice villlage.

  • Haton? Never heard of it.

TLoG was filmed in Hadfield, near Glossop, Derbyshire, about 5 miles from where I live.

  • @husky041 Yes sorry i meant Hadfield..there is a Hatton in derbyshire that is near me lol......

  • did Magpie.

  • Pathos.....superb.

  • its a shit business

  • I love this sketch, but it wasn't 'Aire FM' in 1981! It was plain old 'Radio Aire!' back then.

  • Radio Aire didn't launch until Sep 1st 1981, so wasn't around in April for Eurovision anyway.

  • "when I were on tour with Peter Skellern..."

  • Thanks for this. One of my fave characters.Haha. ..Jay Aston

  • 'id walk in a urinal and heads would turn'

  • 'Desperation I can withstand. Its the hope that I just can't bear...'

  • ohh kids these days dont appriciate good music black lace smoky yes its a shit business les should be happy hes out of it at the right time like blair did ha

  • its a shit business

  • i love les,so sad,brilliantly played,could do a series on just him

  • @mcjeff1234

Totally agree, would love to see a series of Charlie and Stella as well!

  • i know how he feels,i've been there-the clock waits so patiently on your song....constantly reliving the glory days, stuck in 1981,to me he's one of the least grotesque characters, superbly played and imagined, full of melancholy pathos

  • Watch the start of the Queen DVD Live at the Bowl... I'm sure he's exiting the helicopter!

  • Is this character based on Alan Barton? He was in both Smokie and Black (Agadoo) Lace and was in the Eurovision contest (not just the heats!) in 1979 - even had the same haircut. Sadly I think he was killed in a tour bus accident.

  • Of all the LOG characters Les depresses me the most. Poor bastard with his irrepressible hope. Theres just nothing for him

  • Len McDougall was the finest rhythm guitarist since that bloke in Black Lace.I saw him smash his Strat to pieces on stage at Bognor town hall in 1981,he'd slipped on some sick....and the rest is history....

  • As a musician, I absolutely love this character.

  • "I'd walk in a urinal and heads would turn"

  • "did eurovision, back in '81....heats"

    brilliant

  • shit business

  • just superb
