  • good demo

  • do you know of any vst plugins that has presets that are smiliar to what you are using in the just like heaven cover?

  • man you have some real skills. i mean i just think you are a amazingly talented synth programmer and keyboard player. you have it all man you really do!!!!

  • What´s this for song from 0:50 to 1:08?

  • Hey William! Nice vid. I was just looking at resources as I've had the schematics setting up here forever to be scanned. They're too wide even for my 17" scanner so I had to seam them but am almost done. lol. Too much work. I should probably ask for contributions for people downloading that one. It's a lot of pages.

  • Very nice demo!

  • The last part is great!

  • Hmmm...WOW! I use to dismiss this synth, but Having owned a Juno 60, JX10 and Ensoniq SQ-80, I have to say, this synth holds it's own! Nice programming, and of course, I love the "Just Like Heaven" cover at the beginning!

  • amazing, true, deep...

  • very good demo

  • I want one so badly. xD

  • i love the sound but i wish it had more knobs. mines awesome but i get really annoyed with it sometimes at gigs.

  • "It can be made to sound both digital and analog."

Of course. It has digital oscillators.

  • The oscillators are 100% analog. They are under digital control, but all sound creation on this synth is analog.

  • dude, if you want to sell this, let me know. i've got the money. hehe

  • I really want one of these Synths. Good demo and If you ever need cash, email me and I'll buy it.

  • surprisingly great sound

  • Hey William H, When is sonic state going to post your 2nd video on programing FM? it's been over a year since the last video promised "In the next video...." My DX-7 is waiting.

  • You can check out DX7 editing ABC on my video. Yamaha DX7 Frequency Modulatioin

  • Great demonstration!

  • Hey nice sounds, do you interested in to trade sounds / patches for the sx ?

    BR,

    CIT

  • Hello , I've posted the video on switchedonsynthesizer.blogspot.dotcom

  • 1:49 bass line taken from depeche mode everything counts?

  • wow 0.27 The Cure 'Just Like Heaven'. Good playing sir and a nice synth

  • i had one of these, but itwas broke and it ended up getin left at my old house.*tears*

  • Depeche Mode everything counts?

  • You know what? I think you are right, and I've watched this a million times and never noticed before.

  • man what a great old sound i love it.

  • Niccccce..... love the 1st and the 5th sounds

  • cool does anyone how much would i would enjoy to have one

  • the second is the best! just like heaven- the cure!

  • Question:

Are the effects you have on the kawai in this demonstration sounds that came with the synth or things you loaded onto the synth using midi? I currently own the same model (i've inherited it from my mother). I believe she still has all the midi gear and cables and such for it.

  • While the SX-240 has MIDI, it doesn't supports transferring programs via MIDI. It uses a tape backup system instead.

I created the programs for the demonstration. The SX-240 is fairly easy to program once you get familiar with the layout.

  • Thank you very much.

I'll read the manual some more and do some tweaking.

  • i have a Roland Alfa Juno1 and is very the same sounds

  • I wish I had this synth.

  • Sounds really nice...moog-y and fat for a dco polysynth.

  • I have a Nissan 240SX its kind of like the same thing...

  • I mean the modern ones

  • The build quality is very good, but it's not nearly as programmable as modern synthesizers. Even relatively limited synths like the Nord Lead offers far more programming options than the SX-240.

  • are the kawai synthesizers actually good quality? Can you modify the sound as much as any other synthesizer?

  • hey william is the korg m1 good for fruity loopz use or what computerprograms is the best for that synthesizer

  • wow! what a classic i want it

  • what year is the keyboard

  • 1984

  • Nice video, even nicer synth, especially the price. Good luck trying to find one, though, even more luck to find one locally. By the time you get done with shipping and every other charge that could possibly be incurred, you're gonna be $400 or $500 in the hole for a synth that sells for $300.

  • chorus sound reminds me of Korg Polysix..

  • Ya, CURE!

  • most impressive synth.

  • try prophet 5 for button ripping.

  • why do the buttons on that Kawai board look like a direct rip-off of the buttons on Roland JP-8 era stuff?

  • Neither Kawai nor Roland made their own switches. The switches themselves were off the shelf parts which predate both machines. I have a boombox with switches just like the SX-240.

  • Awsome, very professional demo, performance and instrument i didnt know kawai made such an amazing instrument, keep it up.

  • good but it's blatantly not as 'fat' as a roland sh-09

  • wow the juno 60 bit is awesome! can someone tell me what that song is?

  • I believe its "Just Like Heaven" by The Cure. Not sure tho

  • you are right! thanks :D

  • Neat display. I love synths! If I had every synth/module in my dream list (including this one now!)I'd need to have an airplane hangar to house 'em all!

  • Hey, thanks for posting this. It made me actually miss my SX-210! (not as powerful, of course, but still)

  • Hey really well played..

    AWESOME VIDEO...gr8 quality thank u...

  • wow i am impressed i totaly must have one now

  • thanks for posting this demo, I really like that first sound. although the kawai has the same chorus chip as the juno, the chorus sound quite different, more dirty or something. I have a sx-210 and a sx-240 myself too :)

  • ONe of the best equipment demos I've seen here...well done.
