When I arrived at the museum, I was told that it was closed for a private party - I could not believe it, and no amount of pleading was getting me in. My itinerary had me crossing Death Valley and into Yosemite the next day to meet relatives I had not seen in years, so I could not spend another day in Vegas to catch the show...

The exhibition in Las Vegas caused me to have my own personal National Lampoon's Vacation / Clark W. Griswold / WallyWorld hell of an experience. I rode from Durham, NC, to Las Vegas as part of a circumnavigation of the USA for my 30th birthday. I pulled into Vegas, found a youth hostel on The Strip, showered, went to Denny's to "refuel" (fine - so that is not everyone's idea of a good time in Vegas) and then walked over to the Venetian to see the Guggenheim exhibit (continued).
