It's not a continuation of G1. It's a continuity all it's own. They DO throw a lot of G1 references in there, though. This show seems to be all about pleasing long-time TF fans and new ones.

I just realized. In G1, Shockwave was the only decepticon left on Cybertron while the rest followed Optimus Prime. In Animated, Shockwave is STILL the only decepticon left of Cybertron.
