I have a Mahindra from 1970. When I got it eleven years ago it had covered only 12.000km!!! (and today 52.879km). It had 2.2 petrol engine with huge consumption but with plenty of power. Later I changed the engine with a 2.3 Diesel from Ford Sierra. Last year we repainted it and fitted it with some cool lights on the roof :) The engine itself and the jeep are in perfect condition! I only change filters & oil, and fuel it of course.
They used to make them. Not anymore though. I think they had Jeep running gear and a peugeot 2.2 D engine (Bullet Proof). I have sold it now. It was a nightmare to get parts for it. Engine parts were about the only thing I could find. good fun though!

They have a Peugeot 504 engine (2.1 diesel)
I'm on my third (CJ540 long wheel base Chief) great fun in snow, mud or flood,try looking on Ebay for one.
