I watched a bit of gungrave and I thought that the art of that anime wasnt nearly as good as clannads art. (This is of course only my opinion.) Gungrave looked older and not as polished. Clannad and many other animes have never thought about "decent anatomy" since that isnt what they are looking after at all. I've played the novel and watched the anime years ago.
It moved me in ways I could never imagine, it was a gem, something so amazing I couldn't even comprehend. The characters, the drama, the climax, all truly stupendous.

I have also watched Requiem for the Phantom which is about a young guy who gets forced to become an assassin in order to live. That anime also contains next to no humor at all. I like both those kinds and these kinds.

@tox921 After story is about what happens after clannad first season. What happens between the main couple. Its very sad, but very good. Atleast it ends happy. And I cant say i have seen shuffle, but i have heard of it.
@DarkSweetz Just my opinion here but i say don't watch shuffle. It was so rushed to the point where i didn't really care for any of the characters. The ending was rather pathetic and i regret watching the entire show. Just my opinion though so anybody who has watched it no need to hate.
I like the Japanese dub, but honestly, all I can do is understand it. Really all I hear is "blah blah blah " and then I read what it says. With the Englsih dub, I acctually get it. Sometimes with the Japanese dub, it isn't translated right, so I don't understand what it's trying to say. But I do agree, there are sometimes where the japanese dub is better, but also times where the Englsih dub is better, and more useful. Besides, it gets annoying when they talk really fast and you have to pause it

I tried watching the English dub of this and anything related to Ushio.
The English dub has no soul. No emotion. No true character. The actors' performances in English sound phoned in and forced, as if they did it for no more than a paycheck. The poor transliterations, bad actor casting and shoddy voice direction doesn't help any either. But then I watch the Japanese version, and there's so much life, so much spirit and so much dedication. It makes me wonder where the disconnect occured.
I watched the Eng dub of this and then the sub straight after. There's no comparison; so much emotion was put into the Jap version that I could shed manly tears. I can't say the same for the dub.
"Hospital! Ambulance! Actually, the Nurse's Office!" lol I love how it goes from something rlly dramatic, worthy of an ambulance, to something mild that a nurse can take care of XD

Also if you liked Clannad i recommend watching SHUFFLE! - there kind of the same but shuffe! involves more magic (but not that much), demons,gods,humans (but no violence between them).

I like the Japanese dub, but honestly, all I can do is understand it. Really all I hear is "blah blah blah " and then I read what it says. With the Englsih dub, I acctually get it. Sometimes with the Japanese dub, it isn't translated right, so I don't understand what it's trying to say. But I do agree, there are sometimes where the japanese dub is better, but also times where the Englsih dub is better, and more useful. Besides, it gets annoying when they talk really fast and you have to pause it

I tried watching the English dub of this and anything related to Ushio.
The English dub has no soul. No emotion. No true character. The actors' performances in English sound phoned in and forced, as if they did it for no more than a paycheck. The poor transliterations, bad actor casting and shoddy voice direction doesn't help any either. But then I watch the Japanese version, and there's so much life, so much spirit and so much dedication. It makes me wonder where the disconnect occured.

I watched the Eng dub of this and then the sub straight after. There's no comparison; so much emotion was put into the Jap version that I could shed manly tears. I can't say the same for the dub.
