  • i love this music, but i know nothing about ballet, and have never seen ballet. so why for the first time in my life did i have tears watching something. is it the music, the ballet or both. that was just amazing.

  • The simpson bring me here....

  • The Majestic Engineer.hur

  • who cares about Anorexic people? enjoy the music!

  • Anorexic is a scientific term and medical condition, you can still have a ballerina's body and be anorexic ... but i think she is very healthy if she can perform such dance !

  • В этой музыке есть что-то средневековое, фанатичное, фатальное и очень красивое. Так как и должно быть. Эта часть балета самая лучшая. Во всех смыслах. И как музыка. И как постановка.

  • Its beautiful

  • To msinvinsible2000 Juliet wasn't anorexic she had a ballerinas body, you can't be a fat ballerina

  • Merci, j´ai sélectioné cette vidéo comme favoirs pour mon youtube

Gracias, video que selecioné como favorito para mi canal

    Diana ( Argentina)

  • Juliet seems anorexic :S

  • @msinvincible2000 Pfff...

  • @msinvincible2000 She probably is. I'm not all certain who put this together but it's of some notability since it is so well put together, if not just down right famous. Anyone who is that much in the public eye want's nothing more than to remain there, and can you blame them? If I were famous I'd do anything to stay there. It sounds shallow but it's honest. With that it's also very likely that she just practices dancing these very hard pieces so much it's impossible to keep any weight on.

  • awesome!!!

  • Comments on the greatness of the Soviet Russia are stupid. It's the people, the men, women and the composers who are fabulous in the story of this big country and not this period and its difficult end...

  • @alexandreleleu1

yeah, but still the habitat, the society they're are brought up, makes them, who they are in a significant matter. The values and upbringing in soviet Eastern Europe were quite different than in the capitalistic world of the west. You cannot say that the Soviet Russia didn't have its' influence on creating great people. First of all, it gave the opportunity to evolve, develop their talent to many children and young people regardless of their wealth.

  • @alexandreleleu1 Soviet Russia was horrible and disgusting. More died under the hand of Stalin than did Hitler, but it's worse with Stalin, those were his own people. He let the food rot rather than let it go to the people. Whatever composers came out of it would never compromise for the horrible things that did, they where simply the small shred of goodness that came out of the disgusting evil that is Soviet Russia.

  • "The Knights Dance"

  • what is this song called

  • I was on this ballet in theatre. It was amazing:)

  • Greetings from Soviet Russia !

  • only ash remains

  • @motorhead412 \m/

  • sorry too slow....

  • @WildNFree61 "sorry too slow...."

Agreed. Even the dancers seem to be getting ahead of the music.

  • Guys, need a bot of help for my music assignment. What instrument is used at 5:00? to play the main kind of solo....

  • @lpapa2 i'd say it's some flutes!

  • @stickspert You're right! My symphony director told us that he thinks that John Williams stole all of his ideas from older composers

  • Splendid!

  • É maravilhoso. Demais...

  • 2:46 PERVERT

  • Almost Rimsky-Korsakov

  • Absolutely beautiful, words cannot express the power and love, only watching The Ballet through the expression of dance can you realise what the heart is feeling.

  • This is beautiful!

  • This would be good music for the Red Wedding. ;)

  • Is Prokofiev the greatest ballet composer of all time???

  • @cheradinine8 Without a DOUBT! Its so powerful and beautiful, Ballet music on it's own isn't so interesting you just listen to it for fun, however this really is beautiful. It's really assertive and powerful, but the ballet dancers make it beyond words. I wish I could watch this whole ballet...

  • Cannot wait to see what Graeme Murphy does to this :)

  • have you seen Jazzy Prokofiev? really nice, search on youtube

  • @juanchiviris the easiest way to have more views on your video!

  • i searched, but this specific ballet i did not find...yet. i was hoping for a free-download link? anyone, please?

  • where can I find this ballet please

  • @besa747 try by torrent download

  • Haha I've done eurythmics to this =P

  • I'm looking for the piece played on a commercial for Audi Motor Cars on TV....Anybody knows the name of the piece???

  • I don't like it, :/

  • @Ammazinggful Kill yourself.

  • @Jelubaful You must be a sick man

  • @Cavaille100 No you.

  • @Ammazinggful if you dont have anything nice to say dont say it at all, plz

  • I actually know this song from HAARP, Muse's awesome dvd, and Mary & Max.

  • Great composer, great ballet, and great playwright =)

  • This would be a fantastic ballet to watch live.

  • @IShudBeStudying

You rarely see it performed as a ballet. Its a little difficult. Not that I am Ninjinsky or nothing. But I don't think many people have made successful or lasting choreographs, of this music.

I am a pianist, and his music is tough, he was a genius but probably the most user friendly composer.

He played his 7th sonata and in the finale the audience was not sure if they would all loose their hearing or the piano would just fall into splinters.

    Great musician.

    k

  • so ominous i love it! i heard this osng performed live at work and I was glued to teh spot!

  • Volbeat's intro music :D

  • ugh omg it took me sooo long to find this song thank you jesus

  • hello friends and how might you be today. Its arthur

  • hello friends

  • Beautiful direction that really gives us the sense of what the company is doing, and not just the principals, love the camera right down front but wonder how it didnt get in the way of the audience? A stunning, reserved job Mr or Ms Director

  • The technique is undeniably exquisite, but it's still so damn primitive that they build a coreography by putting a dozen dancers performing the exact same poses and movements, and then they will plaster a leading couple to break the monotony... not to speak of the fact that the music and the coreography match each other like Danny DeVito and Schwarzenegger.

  • Stickspert, if you really want to hear another of John Williams's influences for the Imperial March, listen to "Mars" from Gustav Holst's "The Planets."

  • hey everyone:)

i have a question that is bothering me right now... checking prokofjev's The dance of the knights act on youtube, drove me to a conclusion that there are several different types of dance, yet this one is for me the best one...

but can someone axplain how come, there are so many different versions of this dance? and also, if i want to see this particularry version of dance when i go see a ballet, what should i look for?

    thank you very much :)

  • Sublimemente trágico... Música soberbia de un lenguaje exquisito!!!

  • About comparisions between Tchaikovsky's R&J and Prokofiev's R&J: both ballets are great, music in both is genial. The main difference is personal autor's view on this story. Tchaikovsky's ballet is mostly about romantic things. About love and tragedy of two lovers. Prokofiev's ballet is not just about love, but about war and hostility between two families. So this version is less soft and tender, but more intense and militant.

  • love it , this is my fav musical , i would be like woo hoo if this song came on when i am on stage!!!! woo hoo

  • I love love love this! The choreography in this one is simply amazing!

  • brilliant.

  • Wooohooo!! Im Doing This In College, And Damn It Looks Mint!!

  • A stuuuuuuuuuupid question but - can does any body know at what point this music appeas in the game "Heroes of Might and Magic III"?

  • @maciekur

ye, part of this music was used in Heroes of Might and Magic III :)

  • @VenoPL

Now that you mention it... yeah.. I never even noticed that before. Heroes 3 was the shit back in the day, played it for hours. More games should use classic musical pieces like this

  • Recently in my music class my teacher asked the class: "Do you know which two composers wrote an overture for Romeo & Juliet?" I responded "Were they Tchaikovsky and PROFOKIEV?" For my stupid mispronunciation of a Russian composer I cannot enter a single music class without being made fun of for the incident.

  • @acesvi hey at least you knew who the heck the composers were! chances are no one else did. lol.

  • @acesvi call me next time you have a trouble with russian =))) at least it's not a chinese

  • @acesvi haha At least you've got a story to tell, don't feel bad. :)

  • @acesvi I find it disheartening that many people do not embrace the mistakes of humanity. What happened with "To Err is Human." Do not be shamed, sir or ma'am, you learned, you're alive, pass on your mistake, like you do now, and help others.

  • @acesvi Cool story, bro.

  • If I was at this show and that song comes on, I'd be all like "this is my song! woo yeah!"

  • La coreografía me parece genial!

  • I'ts obvious that john williams (the guy that composed the imperial march) was inspired by prokofiev

  • @Stickspert Williams did state that Holst's The Planets gave him inspiration and theme ideas for Star Wars. Check out Mars from the Planets!

  • @Stickspert Of couse, John Williams sucks. Listen to Mahler, Prokovief, Stravinsky, Wagner, Vaughan Williams, you'll hear all those Danny and other John Williams.

  • @Stickspert I'm sorry but it's not "the guy that composed the imperial march", but THE composer who has mixed modern and romantic music together, the composer who has composer for the greatest soloist and orchestras in the world, and probably the must sucessful composer of the USA.

John Williams was inspired by Prokofiev, and by many other composers, if someone said what you said on every video of a composer who has inspired Williams, his name would appear on all classical videos....

  • @GGbreizh Absolutely, listen to "Rite of Spring" and loads of Williams crops up. Bits of Jaws and Jurassic Park are almost direct lifts of sections.

  • @Stickspert

actually the entire period of romanticism in classical music inspired John Williams. George Lucas played a lot of the classical music for Williams to give him an idea of what he wanted. Prokofiev and Richard Wagner were most likely among that music.

  • @Stickspert

I would argue that Williams was also obviously inspired by Gustav Holst's "Mars - Bringer of War" and others. Wikipedia has an own article on "Star Wars music" and also names William Walton and Igor Stravinsky as sources of inspiration for the score of Episode IV. The Imperial March was of course not introduced before Ep. V.

  • i want to dance this in a CLUB lol! right?

  • Mee Encanta esta Melodiia! Beautiful! Me gusta el minute 3 asia adelante pero la melodia de la 1ºparte es genial

  • ...sublime

  • Amazing performance

  • Its preformed just a pitch to slow!

  • at the first moment of music I thought: :D aaahh strawinsky, le sacre du printemps!!! but no... beautyful balett :)

  • NECROPHAGIST!!!!!!!

  • The music sounds so haunting...as if to foreshadow the tragic ending.

  • I love the music, but I will never get ballet.

Awesome that a popgroup uses classical music! Love it!

  • @Bunnysinger Muse is not pop. But, yeah it's a beautiful intro :D

  • @Bunnysinger A technical Death metal band uses this too in the end of a song, Necrophagist for "only ash remains"

Classical music's so great that it can be used in many ways

  • Simply amazing!!!!!! A great moment!!!

  • Goosbumps!!

  • wow, this is beautiful!!!

    absolutely gorgeous!

  • anybody knows which part of this awesome opus?

  • great sound and video

  • classics are always the best

  • JE LE TROUVE SUPERBE

  • The music is soooo haunting, I LOVE it!!

  • fuck lil wayne.. lol

  • A very Russian waltz--but not Tchaivkovsky style. Think about when it was written: 1930's, Prokofiev's friends (and ex wife) being sent to the gulags and never coming back. Stalin. Mass starvation/execution. No, that was not the right time to write a cheerful ballet.

  • That's a very interesting take on the choreography... although the men look like they are dancing syrtaki at some point xD

  • men wearing stockings are ridiculous. but the song is beautiful

  • this is the best choreography I've seen of this dance!!! Magestic!

  • @msinvincible2000 I agree...I love MacMillan's version, but...this is magnificent.

    No really, please do it.

  • @d4vidD3llaR0cc0 You don't have to be in Russia to love this.

  • @Citylife10 This is not a matter of color...

  • @Citylife10 This is not a matter of color... Poor guy

  • @Citylife10 Good taste, I suppose?

  • @vectortutorials somewhat queen nefertiti-like.

  • .......now those are tights.........

  • Такая музыка сносит "крышу"

  • This reminds me why I hated ever going to the ballet - this is even way, way worse than the Nutcracker. Horrible dancing - especially at the beginning - really heavy; and why is this russian instead of Italian - it's Romeo and Juliet! Love Prokofiev's music though -the one redeeming feature.

  • @LTTPUK I agree that the dancing could be better. Check out "Ballet - Romeo and Juliet - Bolshoy Theatre" instead! (sorry, I can't post a link here...)

  • @tinjiano thanks for the heads up - yes - much better dancing and costumes; but I still hate ballet! lol

  • @LTTPUK so because Romeo and Juliet are italian they can't be played in any other country? Your logic is kind of flawed and stupid.

  • @lpycb42 Thank you for pointing that out - I see your social skills are as lacking as your capacity to comprehend what's actually said. The costumes look more russian influenced (although I could be wrong), but the story is set in Verona. I don't think you'll find that I said anything about what country it was played in, and in fact this excerpt is from a performance played in France. Let's leave it there so that your brain has time to catch up with your independently operated mouth.

  • @LTTPUK Ever considered that maybe, MAYBE, that was made to honor Prokofiev, who just happens to be Russian? Now I'll let your brain assimilate that for a little bit.

  • @LTTPUK It is "heavy" imo that's intentional. After all this contrasts the families warring attitudes against the love and light attitude of Romeo and Juliet in the middle of the scene. Anyway, I do not think it is horrible dancing, it is quite beautiful and effective in showing what is going on. We can agree on the love for Prokofiev's music though :).

  • 36 have vacant skulls!

  • So beautiful!!

  • CALIGULA!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Rudolf Nureyev <3

  • Beautiful.

  • @CrimeReport I did not know RACIST people like you liked this sort of music!!!

  • *Darth Vader walks down a hall*

  • @Khang112 I admit its heavy--but remember the time it was written. Joe Stalin==Darth Vader. Prokofiev was literally under the gun.

  • o_O

  • This kind of music scares black people.

  • @CrimeReport how so?
