Actually CNN "OWNED" this War & broke the story 1st. I remember this day well as I unintentionally had my TV tuned in to CNN & then couldn't believe my eyes & what I was hearing when Bernard Shaw's Special Report broke in to announce the begining of this campaign.
@San47di ....I remember when Peter Jennings said that CNN used to be the little network that could, they are not that little network anymore! Basically gave them there respect and reconized them as a major network!
This happened just 10 days after my 9th birthday and I remember watching this with my mom and telling her how weird I thought it was that the war actually broke out during the newscast.
I'll never forget this... I was there.....Turned 21 in Iraq....A country you cannot drink alcohol in..So much for my 21st birthday...... 2nd Battalion 3rd Air Defense Artillery.....I also missed the superbowl... Damn Saddam! At least we kicked his ass outta there in 100 hrs.....How many times you gonna see that?
I was in the 7th grade when Desert Storm happened. And I agree about Peter Jennings because I was once a journalism student in high school and the news of his death from Lung Cancer in 2005 took me by surprise.
Oh really? That's devastating! I mean I wanted to watch Fred Savage as well but there were Iraqi soldiers killing, raping, torturing my people so I could't really watch it. Stupid Peter Jennings and Iraqi soldiers ruining our show ...
R.I.P PEter Jennings! The best anchor ever

Baghdad streets are more well lit than American streets. America is so cheap with its infrastructure despite all these taxes!

I think it showed the difficulty that network news had in keeping up with CNN who were the big dogs on the cable news block back then.
