  • Lol a new piston and a decrap of the sump should do it :)

  • Sorry the little engine decided it was time out !

I learnt early in my life to never give up , so I want to encourage you also to not give up and get it running again. I want to see it run again.

Maybe this is a chance to go to town on it and give it a complete makeover.

    Best of luck

    Regards

  • @coltanmor thanks for the encouragement. I wont be giving up :) already started the search for a new piston. With any luck I can get the JAP going again :)

  • Argh oh bugger. Poor old thing. Oh well thats life. I had an old Renault car do the same. On my way home from work. Still a bugger when this happens.

  • @MakeDoAndMend1 shes not as dead as she looks.. the barrel survived as did the connecting rod. Stay tuned I think ill have this going again sometime next week. Dan

  • Shame the engine blew just after you spent hours making the stand. My 98cc engine did that after I make one lol really annoying. >:(

  • @hello112100 it was a piss take to say the least. But I should be able to bread new life into this old thing.

  • @MO3MINI J.A.P = junky awflul parts

  • Hard luck. I had a Villiers MK25 do that once...:-(

  • see villiers are the best!

  • @krist876 my villiers midget was worse then this! didn't even run lol sold it last week for a tenner

  • @MO3MINI i think the villiers are built alot better , its just the magnetos let them down

  • @MO3MINI The crank shaft on this engine rides on ball bearings. What about the villiers?

  • oh no didnt expect that she was running beautiful.

  • @mrstuart143 I know :/ I thought it was going to run out of fuel... no idea why it speed up before it blew :/

  • Hi mate!

    Sorry to see that happen!

As you said you was very lucky that it did more damage to the cylinder head and barrel.

I do have one of these engines too and it's a pig to start. I still dunno what to do with it. If I decide to get rid I'll let you know. Postage won't be much what so ever.

    Adam

  • @cornishadz Hi Adam, it was a feel shame. This basically the third time I have ever had this engine running! The rest of it is ok. Play in the big end but nothing serious. Ideally just a hunt for a piston.

    Dan

  • what mix were you running it?

  • @pimpinpenz 25:1 mix. Like always... it was pretty worn. I think the extra load of the compressor killed it. The engine was running for about 15 minutes, then I put the compressor on a minute later it went... it wasn't a lake of oil thats for sure. Smoking well. There is plenty of oil on the bore and piston.

Just need a spare piston with rings.
