Well.....I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Moonlight had some pretty crummy acting from the extras and it wasn't the best vampire fantasy series....Which comes to mind...what is it with Vampires nowadays, their everywhere!

Like a show that basically says a woman can't be happy without a husband? And that she'd be willing to go back to people either she dumped or dumped her? Sorry no, I like stories with strong characters where the plots are about more than getting married.
Intelligent drama is a little like intelligent opinions - based on good credentials. Forming a strong opinion about something never seen sits uneasily in concert with claims of wanting an intelligent show. On the other hand, the credentials of Diane Ruggiero are there to be seen. I certainly will watch to enable me to form an intelligent opinion.
As for the premise, I believe an unbiased and mature audience recognises that one character being motivated by a desire to find Mr. Right is not an endorsement of the premise that no woman can be happy without a man, just as the premise of Dexter doesn't endorse being a serial killer. I hope this show does well, not least because it's giving work to many of Jason Dohring's friends. I think he'd be horrified to know that any of his so-called fans are actively working to kill it in the womb.
Saw them filming a wedding scene down in Mission Beach San Diego for this show today. Wish I knew the actor's name who was playing the groom so I could spoil it for everyone. Hawaiian dancers/drummers, a shaman priest, and large bronze gongs.... Who came up with the set for this one?

I'm doing security for this show, and every show is shot here in san diego mainly Ocean Beach. Heres a low down, they will shoot 12 shows minimum, the show will air this september. If it gets good reviews they will shoot 24 episodes.
Maybe its more for all the men out there who cant get even a date because they dont have the right car or look like actors.
This will be much more entertaining than all the crappy "reality" shows featuring inarticulate bimbos competing to see who best represents the cultural decline.
I hope it lasts at least 4 episodes, and if cancelled, the crew in San Diego doesnt have to wait another 2 years for decent paying work.
Seems pretty unanimous. However, this show is not "replacing" Moonlight, just getting the same time-slot. The Ex-List had nothing to do with cancellation of your beloved "Moonlight." As for the premise, is this one more outlandish than "Charmed" or "Bewitched" or "The X Files" or "The King of Queens?"
This is just a blatantly insulting premise to women. It implies that we cannot be happy with our lives without being married - even if it means having to go back to people we rejected or who rejected them. And that is even before getting into the whole psychic aspect. I can see why CBS is losing viewers. When the county nearly had a female nominee for President they are putting shows on that are more representative of the 1950s than the 21st century.
This isn't insulting...it's just fun. Even their writer said that she's had romantice relationship and the other person didn't even know it...she looks like she has a sense of humor, can laugh at herself. You put it on when you're getting ready to go out Friday night.
It is incredibly insulting. Take the line "I love my life, but I want to get married". It basically implies that the character can't be truly fulfilled unless she is married. That is insulting to women to suggest that you need a man to be happy. That is a derogatory way to portray women.
this ONE (fictional) person feeling fulfilled with marriage does not imply that ALL WOMEN need it... there are a lot of people who don't want a marriage/family, but it's not out of the ordinary for someone to want a soulmate. it's not insulting that someone may need someone else to be happy, it actually happens a lot.
When you make a character's search to get married as a premise of a show you are sending a message. And that message is that women need a man to be happy. It is insulting to imply that a woman can't be happy without a significant other. Women can be happy with a significant other - but they can be just as happy without. To have the premise of the show be "I love my life but I want to get married" implying that the character's other accomplishments are insignificant is insulting.
i think your reading WAY to much into this. I know i dont need a man to be happy but it would be nice to find someone and if i was told that i'd be alone forever if i didnt find my soulmate within the year, i'd be worried lol..and heck yes i'd be doing the same as bella so you go bella bloom!!!

I will be checking out this show. The premise itself seems average, but the main writer of the project (Former Veronica Mars writer) is great. I wonder though the long term plans of this show if she just have one year to figure things out.

I was very disappointed when "Moonlight" was cancelled, but I'm even more disappointed that "The Ex-List" is its replacement. Still, I refuse to boycott CBS because I love all things "CSI" and really enjoy a few of the network's comedies. You know, when I first read the description of this series, I thought it sounded pretty stupid, and the weakest of the bunch. Then I learned that it was the show that would be replacing Moonlight, with GW and Numb3ers on either side. And I realized how unbelievably stupid this decision was. This clip has just confirmed my initial impression....I can't wait for this show to flop and for CBS to wonder why they cancelled steady ratings for zilch? *rolleyes* Not that I'm even watching CBS anyway!

Forming a strong opinion about something never seen sits uneasily in concert with claims of wanting an intelligent show. On the other hand, the credentials of Diane Ruggiero are there to be seen. As for the premise, I believe an unbiased and mature audience recognises that one character being motivated by a desire to find Mr. Right is not an endorsement of the premise that no woman can be happy without a man, just as the premise of Dexter doesn't endorse being a serial killer. I hope this show does well, not least because it's giving work to many of Jason Dohring's friends. I think he'd be horrified to know that any of his so-called fans are actively working to kill it in the womb.

Saw them filming a wedding scene down in Mission Beach San Diego for this show today. Wish I knew the actor's name who was playing the groom so I could spoil it for everyone. Hawaiian dancers/drummers, a shaman priest, and large bronze gongs.... Who came up with the set for this one?

I'm doing security for this show, and every show is shot here in san diego mainly Ocean Beach. Heres a low down, they will shoot 12 shows minimum, the show will air this september. If it gets good reviews they will shoot 24 episodes.

Maybe its more for all the men out there who cant get even a date because they dont have the right car or look like actors.
This will be much more entertaining than all the crappy "reality" shows featuring inarticulate bimbos competing to see who best represents the cultural decline.
I hope it lasts at least 4 episodes, and if cancelled, the crew in San Diego doesnt have to wait another 2 years for decent paying work.

Seems pretty unanimous. However, this show is not "replacing" Moonlight, just getting the same time-slot. The Ex-List had nothing to do with cancellation of your beloved "Moonlight." As for the premise, is this one more outlandish than "Charmed" or "Bewitched" or "The X Files" or "The King of Queens?"

This is just a blatantly insulting premise to women. It implies that we cannot be happy with our lives without being married - even if it means having to go back to people we rejected or who rejected them. And that is even before getting into the whole psychic aspect. I can see why CBS is losing viewers. When the county nearly had a female nominee for President they are putting shows on that are more representative of the 1950s than the 21st century.

It is incredibly insulting. Take the line "I love my life, but I want to get married". It basically implies that the character can't be truly fulfilled unless she is married. That is insulting to women to suggest that you need a man to be happy. That is a derogatory way to portray women.

When you make a character's search to get married as a premise of a show you are sending a message. And that message is that women need a man to be happy. It is insulting to imply that a woman can't be happy without a significant other. Women can be happy with a significant other - but they can be just as happy without. To have the premise of the show be "I love my life but I want to get married" implying that the character's other accomplishments are insignificant is insulting.

I will be checking out this show. The premise itself seems average, but the main writer of the project (Former Veronica Mars writer) is great. I wonder though the long term plans of this show if she just have one year to figure things out.

formersusan, I would find this show offensive and bad even if I wasn't a Moonlight fan. The line "I love my life but I want to get married"? Seriously, this isn't the 1950s. We shouldn't be portraying women as so desperate for a husband that they go to psychics and start dating their exes just to find a husband. I enjoy a good love story as much as anyone but I don't want trying to find a husband to be the sole goal of the story. This show's premise is sad and I wouldn't watch it ever.

Although it's not likely that Ex-List will "outdo" Viva Laughlin in terms of how fast it is yanked, I'll bet it's a close second. Some fans of Grey's Anatomy will tune in just to see what it's like. After they discover the negative female stereotype (all women are pathetic losers who have to find a man to make them feel that life is worth living), most will tune out.

From what I understand, Ms. Tassler said the reason(outside of ratings) that they cancelled Moonlight is to get back to their "roots" and to give women what they want. She's kidding right? I was very disappointed when "Moonlight" was cancelled, but I'm even more disappointed that "The Ex-List" is its replacement. Still, I refuse to boycott CBS because I love all things "CSI" and really enjoy a few of the network's comedies. However, I'll watch DVDs and do my weekly cooking prep before turning on the CBS Friday Fall lineup as it is currently scheduled. I mean, I never cared for "The Ghost Whisperer" and "Numbers" lost me after the first season....

They're going to replace Moonlight, an awesome and entertaining show (not to mention a PEOPLE'S Choice Award winner), with this crap??? I hope that no Moonlight fan watches even a frame of this show - no one else will anyway. What is CBS thinking???

This show looks unbelievably bad. Nina Tassler obviously has no clue what viewers actually want, but somehow gets to call the shots anyway. CBS is dead to me so I won't be watching this train wreck or anything else.

Ah, CBS, you made a huge mistake. Good luck finding any viewers for this show, especially after you've lost the 7 million (average) of Moonlight fans. I guarantee this show will tank and you'll be wishing you had never gone and cancelled such a wonderful and refreshing show like Moonlight...

I'll make a bet that The Ex-List gets canceled after only a few episodes air; having watched this clip, the show does absolutely nothing for me. So much for CBS wanting to get MORE female fans to tune it-this show will have them tuning out! This is not a "replacement" for Moonlight; it's a sad joke of a show.
It will be very interesting to see what kind of numbers The Ex-List pulls in vs. the numbers that Moonlight had; I'll wager now that Moonlight wins.

Friday nights shouldn't be for TV anyway. I really hope CW picks Moonlight up. That way all my shows are on the same network, except for Heroes. Obviously. ;-0)

You know, when I first read the description of this series, I thought it sounded pretty stupid, and the weakest of the bunch. Then I learned that it was the show that would be replacing Moonlight, with GW and Numb3ers on either side. And I realized how unbelievably stupid this decision was. This clip has just confirmed my initial impression....I can't wait for this show to flop and for CBS to wonder why they cancelled steady ratings for zilch? *rolleyes* Not that I'm even watching CBS anyway!

ps. I think you were looking for a more female audience. Well, us females don't really want to watch another female go running around after ex-boyfriends to find herself a husband. We get enough of that in our own lives! We want a bit of fantasy to indulge in on a Friday night.

Oops! CBS, whose decision was it to show this instead of moonlight? You have already lost the Friday night top-spot to NBC on the 23rd May since Moonlight was canceled. When will you learn that you should listen to your viewers and not just rely on the Nielson boxes and demographics.
This show may not be that bad, but I can bet many won't be watching due to the fact they don't want to get sucked into a show and then have it canceled on them.
