  • hey man,ive wanted an old school sleeve for a long time but im having trouble like mapping it out,how did you design this sleeve?

  • @anotherdoa Mostly I started with the focus areas like the forearm and upper outer arm. The up front areas that someone passing by would see first. Then picked the main deigns for those areas to start with and just sort of filled in the rest from there. It was a "choose as I go" kind of deal after that.

    Best of Luck!

  • Wow i'm so jealous. Best sleeve's i've seen in a long time!

  • fuckin badass dude that looks awesome

  • awesome

  • hey man you got this done at elite?

are you talking about the one in fort woth texas cause thats where i live i have some sailor jerry originals too im working on my half sleeve

  • That's amazing looking. I love the style and the little details used as fillers.

  • MARLIN!!

  • very cool

  • I just turned 18 and got myself a sailor jerry tattoo. I get nothing but compliments from total strangers when im out and about but at school people show absolutley no respect lol. I guess your just not cool if you dont get a tribal tattoo or band logos plastered willy fucking nilly on your body...Fucking kids dont know what cool is anymore lol

  • That looks amazing dude! i cant wait to turn 18 and get my sleeve started.

  • awesome sleeve, i just got an aloha monkey tatt the other day....

  • This honestly looks great!

  • ok i posted two of my tattoos let me know what you think

  • this looks bad ass man kudos!im about to get a hula girl acctually myself

  • sweet tats. I'm highly considering getting a Sailor Jerry tat done with the possibility of doing a sleeve like that.

  • well i think it rules and sailor jerry is probably the most hardass thing you can get

  • how much did this cost im researching sleeves

  • It depends on the artist and the style. For me, it averaged $100.00 an hour.

  • very nice...but whats with the dude with a broom up his ass?

  • Its a tattoo for mine sweepers.

  • @mudnboots

    why?!?!?

btw...i fuckin' love your sleeve! :D

  • @mudnboots were you in the navy?

  • Fantastic!

  • i like it.i think its great

  • Outstanding sleeve :)

  • lol ive never seen so many people kicking off at somone elses tattoos, i think there beautiful ive got a few SJ tattoos on my sleeve, although mine dont flow together so well i think youve brought them up to date, uber nice :) peace and love x

  • Freedom of art is like freedom of speech. Its relative and to each of us. But without the CRAP, we would take the QUALITY for granted! I could have deleted the jerk but frankly, his words say more about him than my actions ever could. Cheers!

  • @mudnboots Fuck yeah we would take it for granted. My very first tattoos were by one of Sailor Jerry's protoges and the one who took over his shop after he died. His name was Mike Malone aka "Rollo" and the shop was top teir, fuckin' unreal. First shop I was ever in as well.

Haha, went out of there thinking "any shop can do work this nice". I was sorely mistake after getting tattooed by the next shop I stumbled into. Gotta look at those portfolios. As a result, I have high standards now.

  • nice tat

  • I love it, man.

I have Sailor Jerry sparrows and a ship on my chest but I would love to get sleeves.

The old, traditional style is beautiful to me.

How long did it take to complete the whole sleeve?

  • Thanks man! About 13 1/2 hours total time in the chair.

  • that looks sick man... i have the same thing going on to... i love the classic tattoos... so ugly they are beautiful!.. nicely done

  • @MausNicholaus i know what you're saying but they are swallows not sparrows.

sailors got swallow tattoos after sailing 500 miles or they can be used as a symbol of always returning home no matter how far you go, i know the question wasnt directed toward me but im guesing the sleeve as a whole probably took about 11-14 hours (unless the artist was very good at single pass). then again this comment says it's 2 years old so i have no idea why im replying =/

  • im am tattooed as well as in the tattoo business, i have met alot of artists and the pure and simple fact is tattoos are art, it dosnt matter if you think some one is a poser, art is expression it is to the person wearing the ink to decide what they use to express what they want, so what if it was designed 20 40 80 fuckin 2000 years ago, anything the captivates you and you feel a kinship to can be your tattoo, its an outward expression of a inner self, you pick how to show that.

  • fuck curtmastor.. his username tells us he is fat and plays wow all day. dude i think the sleeve looks bad ass. i seen some guy around here with 1 and i was amazed. that shit looks fucking tight. im subscribing and you get 5/5

  • wow what a fucking poser. alot of the characters in his sleeve meant something to the sailors in ww2 who got them. in fact thats kinda how sailor jerry designed them. this fucking idiot just threw on a sleeve like he was ordering a value meal.....and it looks horrible becuase its too perfectly flowing. no authentic "sleeve" of sailor tats would ever bee this operfect or filled in.

  • YOU SIR ARE FUCKING DUMB

  • This might be the dumbest comment I've ever heard. Were you around in WW2? Sailor Jerry has so much fucking flash and HIGHLY doubt all of them meant something to him, or were designed SPECIFICALLY for sailors. I myself have two Jerry pieces and I hardly think a wolf head and a snake meant anything to him, or the fucking sailors. And NOWHERE does it state that a sleeve has to be "imperfect" to be "authentic." Keep going to fly by night tattoos shops to get scabbed up.

  • stop talking like you have any knowledge of the traditions and meanings. The meaning of all of those characters is personal and individual. the meaning isnt in what you see, its in the ink, under your skin

  • Oy! Mate, that arm is smashing! Where'd you go to get it done, and who is the artist(s)? cheers!

  • dude looks fuckin cool ........ like how much did it caost and how long did it take to finish?

  • Thanks bud. Its about 13 hours total in 5-6 sittings that took about 6 months. I would say the cost averages around $100.00 an hour.

  • LOL, still the fool.

  • beautiful sleeve! love it!

  • nice sleeve. does ur artist have sj flash? or do u have the stencil book and bring it to your artist?

  • My artist had one of two books of color flash. I bouught the other one and both were used to get the theme I preferred. Thanks for stopping by. Cheers!
