  • Freddie kills on this solo...just kills!!!

  • 1.29..............Freddie was also a champion sprinter! Look how far he moves in between shots!

  • @TwoTone89 HA, good catch.

  • Just enjoying the music.

    richard cohen films

  • I like Freddie...he had some of the best skills ever...Woody Shaw told me on a recording session NYC ..that he loved Freddie's gift... he could just pick his horn up.. and play..without a warm up..

  • They are tight...and well you needn't be...

  • Do you mean Freddie HUBBARD?

  • johny griffin the best

  • my man, freddie ! what a nice solo...thanks for my ears !

  • amazing....which people make up the rhythm section? billy higgins is the drummer but besides that...

  • freddie hubbard has the most advanced bop solo's of any trumpet player that has lived except maybe dizzy

  • What about Atruro Sandoval, Marsallis, miles davis

  • @overlordspencerman

Woody Shaw Especially! Maybe he meant modern?

  • @jazz1bro there is also clifford brown

  • @overlordspencerman

I did think first of Clifford Brown in terms of sheer fluency. Booker Little was great also! I'm a guitar player!

  • I don't know about that man....have you heard many Clifford Brown solos?

  • Check out his solo on Oliver Nelson's "Stolen Moments" (along with Eric Dolphy on flute!).

  • Yea king Freddie!

  • freddie hubbard not habbard

  • check out my two videos where I playing trumpet...and comment pls..:)

  • I'm the piano player-- Harry Pickens. Was at the festival with Out of The Blue (Kenny Garrett, Ralph Peterson, Bob Hurst) that year.

  • Great record you guys made with 'Live At Mt. Fuji'

  • HAbbard is how Australians say it.

  • Johnny Griffin is my hero, and this video just goes to show why

  • Uh, its Freddie HUbbard, not HAbbard

  • Griff negotiating Monk;s changes with ease.

  • great video. I have a lot of the Mt.Fuji videos, but never seen this one. Who's playing piano??

  • Looks like Griff's regular piano player back then, Ronnie Matthews. Too bad he doesn't get to solo. Anyway this is just awesome: Billy Higgins shows why he was one of the Greatest drummers and Freddie is simply amazing. He really was a Giant back then, but unfortunately this is the kind of playing that eventually blew his lip out and ruined his long career. I could listen to this all day, so thank you so much for posting it.

  • The piano player is Harry Pickens, who was in Griff´s band at the time (right after Ronnie

    Matthews)

  • A sincere thank you for this C-7 ÷9!
