I tried this for the first time today. Gotta say I'm not a fan. It tastes like they took a regular mountain dew removed the sugar and replaced it with artificial sweetener. Actually the taste of this reminds me of diet soda more than regular mountain dew. This could be because it has 2 grams less sugar than regular or the quality of the sugar used, but I think they could have done better.

Mountain Dew throwback is the original formula, which is why it has the Retro design. They used real sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup but switched due to the high increase in the price of sugar cane.

The difference is supposed to be when real sugar is used, it doesn't have the aftertaste that high fructose corn syrup leaves. I'd agree with such a statement. When I tried it, it tasted like Mountain Dew, just no aftertaste, so it's kinda odd that you weren't as crazy about it.

@holmeselectric9 Ironically, the "Throwback" is simply Mountain Dew's original recipe brought back. The "regular" Dew only came into being in the last 20 years or so. Most people these days are just so used to the current formula that it's understandable the old one would taste a little weird at first. Personally, I remember drinking the old formula before they changed it so I'm glad to see it available again, even if it's just for a limited time.

I'm drinking a throwback dew right now, which is why I searched for this video. I'm also a MAJOR mountain dew fan, been drinking it for years and it's my favorite drink and I love it, and I can honestly agree with all the people that say it has a diet taste to it. It's kinda like a baby mtn dew, less strong, less carbonated, less sweet, + the fakey aftertaste like diet or nutrasweet or splenda.
