Nearly everyone with a boat that has easy adjustments, like trim and jack, constantly experiments. On my boats, what worked was somewhat different in different conditions, but what is consistent is getting the prop out of the water means a LOT more speed. The fastest boats run with the prop shaft well clear of the waterline, only the bottom part of the blades in.
4th... Trim ..He was playing around with the trim cant you all see this ???
5th ... A Chopper Is made to run out of the water and with Lwp (My bad )Low water pick.. this will not Burn a motor Up ... Maybe a 2 psi of water But should have Been around 10 psi At that give time ...
I can go on But once again this is youtube and Everyone knows something about nothing ...
Keep post vids of the motor Running hard ..I love read about what people comment and dont know a thing about motors ..
3rd.. Your Not going around a turn..BS .. you have Rubber mounts or Weak steering .. Going to lean on steering Because Your Running Bay star and Not Pro .
@keelsfamily Nope, he's demonstrating a rooster tail numbnuts.. Plus, a trimmed outboard will keep more boat out of the water to reduce hydro resistance.
Not a clue on how to drive that boat. You are way overtrimmed. I can see it by the angle of the engine. The boat is porposing. It is a potentially dangerous condition.
@Dcamp200 It's not a river lol...irs a bay and your in the Great little egg Harbor bay...Youll probably see me around there heading to dredge beach! :)
Its called half proping and its just fine with those merc's cause they have low water pick up holes down by the prop shaft for when you have just half the prop in the water
lol id love to tow my friend behind a boat liek this some day on a water tube and hit a turn at like 70 mph and send his fat ass cascading through the water but first while i was towing him id lift the motor up a lil bit and give him a rooster tail shower hahaha so he couldnt see when his ass goes skipping across the water
one guy showed off dancing while speeding of a sister speedboat of mine and fell. broke 3 ribs and got beat up like shit at 20-25
and there was an article in papers or something some tourist died while some newbie drove a 500hp bayliner pulling him on skis on full speed at speeds i accounted as lethal to hit the water .
it is curved... clockwise, just like the revolution of the prop. Just because the tail isnt leaning at a 30 degree angle you really think someone took the time to edit a video for youtube? smart comment, dipshit
it also depends on how high the engine is placed on the back of the boat also! if its on as low as it will go not matter how much trim you wont get a rooster.
i had a phantom 21 with a 2.5 efi and a 23 with a 225pro all sitting nice and high....so nice and big roosters! :P
Nice, is that Beasley's Point Power Plant I see in the background? I take my boat out there sometimes. I also have a Merc, but it is a little 90hp 3 cyl.
How big a rooster you talkin? My boat at max speed (GPS) at 5700 has about a 8 foot tall rooster.....with that 300 if he trimmed in in to get the "rooster" down I bet he'd lose speed cause the nose would be buried.
trimmin the nose down would make more drag, why not the big roost? if you watch dragboats they have a 200 foot roost behind them, seems like their hallin ass at 200+
@RB30BMW alot of certain kinds of boats do that, Hyrdostream, checkmate, river rat, all those types of boats do that. its just how the boat is made.it doesnt matter if he trims all the way up or down hes still going to have a rooster tail.
ya i know this. When i was a kid my dad was a mechanic at a marina and bayliners with force motors were all i ever saw sitting waiting to be fixed. The whole time the mercs were out there runnin
Not really. They have a bad name that they can not seem to get over. Now we know Force is no longer made, but the Bayliners made today are a quality boat. Of course their prices now reflect that, the prices have gone up a huge amount for Bayliner.
I love the sound of mercury engines. Every time i hear the sound off it i whatch out the window, and put out the sound of every thing else. Im not living to close to the sea either:p me want<3
I have a friend who haves a tohatsu:PThe parts are very expensivexDhaha. The merc haves the rekord.they drived on a lake 24 hour.they drived around the world in that lake.Mercury is the best so fuck the rest;D
annoyingadvertiser you can't even spell don't you know mercury is # 1 on the water you all are just mad because you don't have a mercury there is always somebody to talk bad about mercury. and it's either because they lost a race to one or can't keep up with the mercury!!!! anyways got to go my mercury is waiting on me
Offshore trim is one big f-n ram, so you can trim til the boat slows down or the prop is of the water. That's an Apache 22, very tough boat, and heavy,,goes about 76 with a good driver like myself LOL
The motor was not crabbing. The river we are running has gradual turns. Your actually seeing the motor turned slightly as we are making our way around a bend. The driver definately had it over trimmed. He was messing aroung trying to see what kind of rooster he could throw.

some trim can increase speed but too much will make you loose speed.

My boat, my 300x, my friend trying to grenade it!
Contrary to statements; it was not a racing chopper rather a beefy 5 blade 26p ET cut prop. Not set high, it actually runs below the pad.
I think there was beer involved when this vid was shot.
