@FawxNewbz I'm not sure what you mean by hitting keys thing. If you play it on a keyboard, you will be out of sync, you shoud quantize your sequences after you've recorded them.
I was wondering if you could tell me how to open addictive drums in fl. Its only letting me open it in the mixer and nowhere else. I need to get it to open up in the piano roll. Please Help!
@LW89music Simple, you should just be able to drag the end of the note to the point where it's a 32nd. Make sure you set your snap mode to 1/2 step or less.
@OmgCemen Yes it is, these skills aren't dependent on the library you use, they all work exactly the same when it comes to programming MIDI. I could have used any plug-in and a wide majority of people wouldn't have it, although you're right in that I could have used FPC, but as I said, that's unimportant.
@metabog Yea, but actually, I believe most of us don't have those skills you're talking about yet. I came here to learn how to use drums properly and make my lame snare an awesome one.
@OmgCemen I'm probably going to make another drum tutorial, this is my first ever tutorial and hardly the best. Unfortunately turning a lame snare into an awesome one isn't just a programming matter, there's a ton of stuff that goes into it, most of which is learned by doing and mixing different types of drums, so really a tutorial would be fairly unhelpful for that. What I was probably trying to show in this video is how to 'think' when programming drums to make them fairly realistic.
Hey, Have you guys seen the new Windows 7 powered StudioBLADE computer workstations? They're perfect for running FL Studio and all your windows compatable plug-ins! Click the link below to see videos!
@2MARINES2 You program the fill with shorter duration notes, like 32 or 64 notes. It's all relative really, you can work at 1bpm and still program as fast as you want.
you dont even need the same drum program as him just download some better drum samples and just use the normal fl studio defualt way of making any beat
@TMF58 I don't really remember how I did that one in Addictive Drusm, but I could share my current presets. I was thinking of starting an FTP server to upload audio stuff like presets and samples. To get a dry sound like that though, you should set the mic mix for the snare to all bottom (no top mic), turn the room channel all the way down, then use the gating part with a quick decay so there's no ringing, and maybe use the EQ to turn up the high-mid frequencies to taste.
How the bloody hell do I ARRANGE the drum samples to the KEYS on the piano roll?
When I enter the PIANO ROLL all I get is THE SAME SAMPLE all over the keys.
You forgot to explain HOW to bloody install the DRUMS AT ALL and how to EDIT THEM *INTO* the piano roll. There is really *NO POINT AT ALL* to this tutorial if you cannot properly *EXPLAIN* how to even *START* the drum editor AT ALL
@MechaAkuma I'm sorry but if you don't even know how to install a piece of software maybe you should read the readme file before you try programming drums or shouting at me. This is a tutorial on drum editing techniques not installing the software, and assumes some knowledge of using FL Studio. Read the title, it's "Drum Programming Tutorial" not "Using Addictive Drums" tutorial. There's a readme file for that.
@metabog The problem isn't installing the software. The problam is being able to START the drum editor at all. In your tutorial you start at the drum editor. It isn't explain in the manual, nor in the video tutorials on FLs site nor on any YouTube tutorial. I would love to use your tips on how to make a beat but they are entirely useless if I can't even START the drum editor at all! You take for granted that people will actually know how to even startthe drum editor.
@MechaAkuma There's no "drum editor", you have to use external libraries, and it would take tens of videos to go into the details of how they work. The one I'm using is called Addictive Drums, and you load it up as a channel and go into the piano roll, where the different drums are already arranged according to a custom (non-general midi) mapping. If you want to use cheaper FL studio drums, try loading up a channel of Fruity FPC. It's similar.
@metabog When I load up the drums in a piano roll I get the Hi Hat sound all over the keys. No matter which pian okey I press I get the same Hi-Hat sound; only different pitches. I cannot edit the piano keys, I cannot put in another drum sound on the keys and I cannot edit a drumbeat what so ever in the piano roll. The "Drum Editor" I am referring to is the FIRST SCREEN you start atduring your tutorial - the piano roll screen with all th samples loaded to different piano keys. That doesn't exist
ok after my first 2 hours of studying FL studio...i got something not too bad i can say.but i know just 1% of the tools in there. And i must have done something wrong cause when i play all the sounds on the track its making ugly background noises like it's surrounded or just over gain...cant realy do nothing...did i put too many at the same time?PLEASE
You need to go into the settings and make sure the buffer length isn't too short. If you don't have a proper ASIO driver you may have problems playing back what you programmed. It could be something else though, but you'd have to describe the problem in more detail.
Make sure you install all VST plugins to C:\Program Files\VstPlugins or similar, keep them in the same place. Then from FL Studio right click on the instrument panel to add an instrument. At the very top select 'more' then 'refresh'.
You should now see all new plugins listed and if you tick the boxes you can add them like any other instrument for use in FL Studio. If yoiu still can't see them, you have probably not installed the VST in the right place.
I saw the tutorial and read the help file but I didn´t find the info on how to get to the "fruty loops standard abc drum module" and how to assign different drum sounds to the Piano roll. I have the FL ), is it different? I hope you can help me... Thanks in advance
Hehe. It's not acb, it's FPC. When you open FL you should have a number of channels loaded. Right click any of them and go to insert, and you will find FPC there. For some reason the video recording app I was using at the time didn't record the menu I went through, but when you right click you get a menu, and if you go to insert (or replace) you will find all the plugins you have.
Great tutorial--I just want to use this for demos and home studio stuff--really helps me understand my new program. I am having trouble getting my bars to line up properly from different patterns in my playlist. Any suggestions?
You could try adjusting the snap to grid settings for the playlist, I almost always leave it on 'cell', unless you have bars that finish before a 4/4 or after (like some compound time signature). Then you could either switch to a lower quantisation divison for the snap to grid, or zoom in until the cells become smaller.
Read the help files for really basic stuff. But as I said, you won't have my drums, these are separate samples! FL Studio has some drums in it as well.
how do you open AD in fl studio????
great vid btw really helped out

@luisangel3100 No you can't do that with just Addictive Drums, but you can with a MIDI remapper or with MAX/MSP.

if your tempo is set for 84, (which is slow) how do you make a fast fill in the drum editor without the fill being at 84 ?
2MARINES2 1 year ago
@2MARINES2
Basically, say you have your 3 bars of normal beat
Have that on one pattern and at the tempo you wish
Have a new pattern with a new tempo, and create your fill on that and then put the two together when putting the song together
Hope that helps :D
