I FUCKING LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SONG. I was definitely born in the wrong decade. Seems like it would've been the best to be a teen in the 80s, and then be a young adult during the 90s.
@Imxoneofthefallen i agree the early 80's was definately the best period of music in my opinion. however there still is some brilliant music nowadays its just harder to find :). radiohead 'in rainbows' is the first example that comes to mind.
@Imxoneofthefallen I can't agree with you more. I was a teenager in the 80s and in my 20s in the 90s. I know people hate the term shoegazer but that was my genre. Call it what you want but there was some very imaginative musicians making this music starting with the Cocteau Twins.
@Imxoneofthefallen Yes it is, if you look in the right places. This was as popular in the 80's (and by way of example, Radiohead or Aphex Twin in the 90's) as the likes of Fleet Foxes, Other Lives or Animal Collective are now; not very. Back in the 80's people were complaining that 'music isn't the same' because at the time Bananarama and George Michael were getting the No.1's. As it's always been, good music is out there underneath the surface.
goofy 16 year old in 1986 listens to this song...last song on the pink opaque tape....and promptly has his mind torn in half and doesnt know how to tell his friends whats happened to him. familiar?
@poolsidenyc haha i relate being that i was 16 years old in 1986... I wrote all the names of their songs on the wall in my bedroom and made a shrine in their honor.. I couldnt explain any of my feelings to anyone at that age, but i played their music all the time. takes me back, still a fan in my 40's!
I like the 'Tube' version because the sweeping arpeggio on the guitar sounds far more distinct and clearer...here on the record the sounds are overlapping so it loses its effect
if any song sums up cocteaus utter brilliance it is this track. thereis something almost hymn like and spiritual about their music .fans of ct will relate i,m sure
I like that background image with this song - the colors and texture. As for the song, it's one of my favorites, and a great ending to a super album. I must say the bass on your posting is coming through particularly strong and solid - it sounds great!
that second part is really like.... one of the best things, really

@poolsidenyc the same, but in 2000 and with black metal.
:) anyways, just discovering Cocteau Twins, and its great

@poolsidenyc Indeed. Where my friends always thought that Cocteau Twins were flighty, shrilly, fluffy vocal stuff, and they never would believe me
neph13 1 year ago
@poolsidenyc Same thing here. I think it might have something to do with how it "hits" you right after the more easy going song Pepper Tree
