    It is not the better idea to go for to turbo a 11.5:1 engine... Something will break. The compression ratio is a lot higher that stock one and you would add more air (and more pressure, postivie pressure) into the chamber with a turbo.

    Yeah, you are right. The 3S-GTE is a very interesting/powerful engine. It came in Celica, MR2, Caldina, etc... There is another 3S-GE tuned (or made, I am not sure) by BEAMS that produce ~200bhp in N/A configuration.

  • @ezgar714 ANY honda besides the ones done RIGHT by smart people, are LOUD, SLOW and extremely fucking annoying, you run 12 seconds on a honda FULLY stripped of everything and it running race fuel, give me a fucking break here. Maybe when your honda runs 10's on 91 with the interior in tact then go brag about some shit.

  • @xxnissansilviaxx The motor is factory in the AE86. its a 4A, not a 3S. And the ITB's are off of a AE111 Toyota Trueno. The motor code is 4A-GELU.

    you have a n/a 2.2 stroker with flow mods and a 10.5:1 compression ratio?

    you make max power at 6400 rpm with top end work?

    and you say you have a custome intake manifold with itb's with air horns...

    something dont add up here

    also 180hp seems very low for the amount of work in the motor

    Yes max HP is @ 6400RPM. Im sure when i can get it making power to 8500RPM i suspect it may increase

    Yes it is a CUSTOM MANIFOLD with 20v quad throttle bodies adapted to it.

    What doesn't add up is that IT WAS THE FIRST DYNO RUN FARK

    Exhaust was to small !!!! Throttle bodies were to small !!!!

  • @Xceldyne it is not making the hp its should... not being negative but its your cash.. 20v throttles suit a 1.6-2.0 motor, you have increased displacement.. thus more flow.. headwork and cams more flow.. .. thermal effiency, menchanical efifiency and VOLUMETRIC EFFICIANCY.. the only way to make power... bin your cams man.... somtin tells me you bought the cams before you got all the flow work done.... shit if he was as good as the figures say ??? good flow man will tell you what cams.. FACT

  • wait.... only 180 out of a 3sge???? wtf??? I'm trying to build a 4ag to make 200 4 my 86.......... I was figuring on blue top bottom end w/ b16 pistons, red top head, pnp 3 angle valve job, mild cam, and a lil more and I figure it'd be around where you're at...... and for less money....

    but actually...how much torque u make???

  • Full fabricated custom intake manifold with Blacktop 46mm 20v throttlebodies.

    Now running custom fit 6 cyl BMW 50mm quade throttle bodies.  Lots more upgrades and will be engine dyno'd in the very near furture

  • idk why you guys keep saying its a beams. the beams motor ran coil on plugs, this motor doesnt have that. on top of that, the beams motors have distinctive shape valve cover to accommodate the dual vvti. the 3sge just has rectangular ones.

    your 3SGE is making 180rwhp, so that it means is making over 220hp, right¿

    I love what you done, its awesome! NA is always a good alternative to the turbo

    just one thing.. you have an awesome job on the head port but, 10.5 CR aren't too low to all that flow¿

    if you have a lightweight flywheel and 2.2 stroker its cause you'll use it to Drag race, right¿

    that engine easily can handle 13 CR

  • i wanna do this same kind of 3sge build in my mr2 with a beams red top engine, but with the huge list of parts u got there how r u only getting 180 hp? the beams 3sge motor stock makes 200. whats going on?

  • First dyno run. Lots changed since then and will be tuned on engine dyno soon with a much better computer, t/b upgrade & exhaust.

    Stay tuned will be more info in the near future which may interest you.

  • I was thinking about buying a beams red top and compleatly rebuilding it. all new internals, ITB's and high flow header, all that good stuff but definatly no turbo. i want a track car not a drag or drift car.

  • how hard is it to tune the ITB's in just right and is it worth the money? i was thinking about doing the same type of rebuild for my mr2.

  • Lots of time spent custom making stuff to keep the price down. If you cant do that it will cost a fortune

    Not hard at all to tune ITB'S its the Big cams ported head thats hard to get right. You need a quality NA designed computer to adjust everything from 0 to 100% throttle and someone who knows how to

  • Nice Set-up! In all honesty, with all the parts listed, I was expecting to see at least 200 whp. I remember when I used to have my RSX with major bolt-ons made 250+ fwhp.

    I used to have an AE92 4dr with silver top and TEC-II years ago and I was discouraged when integras w/V-tecs just cruise by me every single time when we race. That was the reason why I went and decided to get a RSX type-S, which was my first honda powered car...no regrets then...

  • My RSX was a fun car at the track as well. Beating porsches at one POC event at streets of willow. Custom penskes and good wheel (Enkie RPF1) and tire (RA1s) makes an amazing package! IMO, Honda makes better OEM head design than Toyota.

  • Project is on hold atm which is disappointing. This dyno run was its first and we have made alot more gains through exhaust system. Unfortunately it is in need of a fully adjustable computer package I.E Motec or Autronic to get any serious potential out of it.

  • hmm.. did you count the wave dynamics for the intake and exhaust to the same revolutions?

  • You're on US dynos which read significantly higher than dynos here in Aus like the one this car is on. If this run was done on a dynapack/mustang dyno it may very well have pumped out over 200whp. If i'm memory serves right it's about a 25% difference between an Australian Dyno Dynamics reading and a Mustang dyno, meaning it would have read 225whp on a Mustang.

  • Hi there, I have a 3S-FE, major diff between the two, FE was for economy and GE for performance.

    Ive read around and many think its a "no point mod" to put a GE head on a FE block, many recommend a 3S-GTE conversion 8(

    I just want my 3S-FE to perform better, with minimal cost. ie CAI, exhaust etc.

    Except i dont think its possible to fit a POD filter on a Gen 1 3S-GE/FE due to throttle sensor rubbish.

    Any Pointers people would be appreciated.

  • i thought they had the same block different head. 4A-GE the 4A = block, do more research the the 3S series engine im 90% sure 3S = block.

    I've got an odd question for you, what sort of engine mounts are you using? I have an airbox around my quads setup, and am worried that it's gonna hit the bonnet/brake booster/etc if it moves around too much... Using standard 2S rubber engine mounts, wondering if I'll perhaps need something stiffer.

  • its from sw20 mr2 gen2engine i as far as i know and the gearbox is a steel case w58 or 54 5speed celica box. Quads are Blacktop 20 valve with custom made manifold

  • They are monster extractors, cost me $600 to get made up. I have seen a 3SGE make 200RWHP, but thats reving 7-8000. AE85 Trueno :) Get us some driving movs :)

  • AE85 Sprinter it is and confident will get over 200 RWHP when engine back in car. Currently doing more upgrades and Mods to engine and suspension. Seriously needs decent exhaust!!!
