  • People who see the Northern Lights colours with the naked eye are extremely lucky. I've just returned from Norway and saw the Northern Lights but only as a very pale green and yet viewing them through camera lenses, the same images appeared with very vivd colours. A very strange phenomenon.

    Yes.

    This movie from car.

The trian is on way to Kiruna to Abisko.

The cloud that passed the video camera shone in green.

  • Thank you for posting this! It reminds me of home, In Saskatchewan Canada....I grew witnessing this my entire life and it never ceases to make me stop in awe and wonder.

  • this is amazing i wish i could see it in real life

  • I'm going to Iceland (in a hotel just outside Reykjavík) this winter. How big are my chances of catching a glimpse of the lights? I wish I get to see one...

  • I live in Sweden and I only remember seeing it a couple of times in my life (I'm only 18 but anyway)!

Iceland is more to the north than where I live in Sweden, so maybe Northern Lights are more common there, but I don't think your chances are that big :(

  • I just heard yesterday Iceland is off, so I will have to wait yet longer before I'll see them. Though my dad says he has seen them once in the Netherlands (were I'm from). Guess you have to be very lucky.

But thanks a lot for answering! I'm jealous of you, you saw them, if only a couple times :).

  • @DenAndra90 Actually, Abisko in nothern Sweden is known to be the best place in the world to watch northern lights. At least according to STF (Svenska Turistföreningen).

  • oh...soooo lovely...

Fantastic vid; would LOVE to see Aurora's Dance for myself (in Alaska or Scandinavia; have seen 'em here in Texas and in my former home in Ohio, where I was born; nothing like what they see in Canada, Alaska, or Scandinavia)!! • so beautiful. i did a state report on alaska and it said like a fox or something sprayed snow into the air and created Aurora Borealis. or something spelled like that idk

  • That's an old Finnish legend. In Finnish the Northern lights are called revontulet and straight translation from that is fox's fires.

I didn't know that they had same kind of legend in Alaska...
