This could just be me....but to me it seems like since Tyler has become more mainstream holywood. He is losing the roots of black america. Like When i watch Diary of a mad black women vs Madea goes to Jails there is a clear difference between the two. No strong emphasis on black love, dicovery, history, family... all of the things we loved in his plays.

There is a more of a mainstream feel to this movie but hey he had to expand. Black love is still in the core of this film! Family & history were focused on less but every film doesn't need that. This flm focused on discovery between two ppl more, & it was heartfelt & beautiful.

i think you'er right it is slightly mainstream but the most important thing is he incorporates actors that otherwise do not get mainstream attention. Look at Shanaa for example, in a family that preys, even gabrielle union complains along with her that black women are categorized for romantic comedies... and if you watch i can do bad all by myself you'll see the emphasis you want, its a great movie and it unites people of all races which matters most

I agree with you. I saw I Can Do Bad All by Myself in theaters and i enjoyed it. There was a lot more meat to the story this time. Also great actors BUT i was still disappointed in the scenes with Madea. I expect her to give me some type of wisdom like she has in the past but in the last 2 movies i havent got it... Maybe that southern spun wisdiom is just for the plays
