Hello ladies, thank you for this great recipe. My son and I loved it and once i make it we cannot stop eating till it is all finished. Since the first time i made it my son keeps asking me to make it regularly. I have a question though, when you say 1 cup of chana dal is it approximately 1.5-2 dl? It would be great to have an exact measurement. Thanks for your video clips they are very well done and the recipes are great. Keep up the good work.
@aisakaykure: I thought as much but did want to clarify - it is not a measurement we use here. 1 cup of Channa Dal is approx 200-210gm. I hope you can convert it :)
covering the lid with towel is great tip. I made khaman so many times but water drips from the lid on the khaman and make them soggy. i tied a cheese cloth and it was wonderful. my khaman turned out dry and fluffier. thanks for the tip!
This was the recipe I was looking for, I think this is the best recipe of khaman on You Tube so far, you girls are doing a great job. I love all your recipes and like the way you use less oil and make it healthy. I want to make khaman for my diwali party of 30 guests, do I just double/triple the quantity and can I make this one day before and temper it on the day of the party? What would be on your diwali menu? Just need some ideas:) Do not know what to cook this year.
@shahrukhdiwani1 : Yes, you can double and triple this recipe and it works well to make a big batch of it. Seasoning on the day of serving/party is the best as it gives the dish (khamman) a fresh flavor and can we say anything less about the aroma that is going to fill your kitchen ?
Perfecto..... U explained it real nicely .. Earlier i tried so many time never came so fluffy ... .. Just followed ur each step..CAME OUT REAL WELLL..Great explaination to every step
I am 17 and this is the first time I have ever cooked something all by MYSELF and the Khamans tuned out to be so delicious you just can't get enough of them. <3 your channel and these recipes. Thanks :)
Hi Hetal and Anuja..Thanks for such a wonderful recipe. I tried the exact recipe as shown in the video and it came out really really good..My husband loved it.
Thanks a lot for all your recipes. I had tried your eggless walnut cake, that too came out awesome.
HI Hetal and Anuja thank u so much for sharing recipes.. i love to watch your videos. i will try it soon. i have made some other disses and it came out really good. thanks again.
nothing more joyful than watch a project start, grow and become this big. the changes as you grow, orkut and now facebook presence...and finally being featured on a tv channel. the best part of it all being that this albeit a journey, is just a start. I am sure you'll go a long long way.
its amazing what sincere dedication can do for you.
Cooking with more than a pinch of fun ! All the best for your future.
I really like this dish with cabbage sambharo. That might sound odd to some people but I find that the flavours go nicely together. What's funny is that it took me a long time to warm up to Gujarati food but I now find it to be absolutely addictive. I think part of it is the lemon juice and yogurt along with green chili peppers (the tangy sourness combined with the spicy heat makes Gujarati food really distinctive). Nice job with this vid.
Hi guys, oke you won me back. Great recipe. I made it today...started yesterday and my Punjabi hubby LOVES IT...I served it with hari chutney and it just was the BEST..he ate so much he couldnt eat the dinner that i made...was wonderful....This is the kinds of recipes I really need.....SO NUTRITIOUS TOO! love it love it..please post more and more like this...thank you so much from Toronto.
i saw the picture and i instintly thought, "Must Click" plus you guys are so awesome and nice and funny. Me and my mom sometimes just sit in front of the computer and hold a bowl, and chopsticks (cause we're asian) and pretend that we are eating what ever you make. Haha. u guys are awesome! stay that way!
Awesome..recipe A & H. I have always used the ready khaman packet. Im gonna try this out now.
Also I had a question. As u guys do a lot of cooking, could you suggest any good blenders/foodpros for Idli, Dosa batter. I had the hamilton Beach blender which died on me twice...So two blenders in one yr is a bit much!! Im sure Anuja must ba makin a lot of South Indian stuff.. What do u use?
@aplimanasa : I use an Ultra for my regular use but do not show that because it's not something everyone has :( But if you are planning on making idlis and dosas on a regular basis, I suggest you invest in one...I love mine :)
But when it's a small amount, I do use my blender - it's a Cusinart and it's about 7 years old and still (knock on wood) going strong!
wow...yummy...m gonna try this 2day itself...u gal rock:)
Hey u said that u have Black and Decker Power Pro II.food processor...if u dont mind can u plzzzzzz send me the link for the same...i have 1 last question...can i also grind batter for idli & dosa in this food processor???
Ur inputs r highly appreciated...waiitng for ur reply....
could u pls show recipes made of fruits.

@aisakaykure : Pardon our ignorance, but what is 'dl'?
ShowMeTheCurry 2 months ago
@ShowMeTheCurry
DL or dl is the short form for deciliter.1 dl = 10 cl = 100 ml (for liquids)
For solids for example, 1dl sugar is approximately 65 gram if i am not mistaken. I live in Sweden and the recipes almost always use dl.

is there any other substitute for baking soda....i have eno... can i add that instead of baking soda???
thank u
vinzash 1 year ago
@vinzash
Yes. ENO is just 60% baking soda and 40% citric acid. You will need more ENO than what the recipe says. Be sure to adjust the lime juice.

What is the difference between a blender and a food processer
neil2090 1 year ago
@neil2090 : Blender can grind into a smooth paste whereas Food Processor will only chop (coarse) the food.

Why mix the baking soda in one direction only?
virson73 1 year ago
@virson73 : We stir in one direction so that the bubbles created by the baking soda do not get disturbedit ensures a spongy khaman.
