It's not a new idea... Mazda MX5 and Lotus Elise have always been light and efficient and are true sports cars. They're just trying to carry the concept to larger platforms. It's a good thing. If it's an AE86 replacement it should be light and not super powerful. This really isn't supposed to be a supercar from toyota, that's that LF-A thing. I'm down with diesel in regular cars and sports cars. I'd be hard pressed to pick between the upcoming GTI and Golf TDI especially if they offer a TDI Cup model!
