Hi John, I have always been told never to put salt on before cooking steak (I always used to) because it would dry the steak and make it tougher. Not true?

who the hell told you that. you always apply salt to steak before cooking...

@tomfulery1 i don't think adding salt right before cooking would be a prob. maybe if u store the steak with salt or use salt in marinade it would.. i always see vids with chefs telling u to salt and pepper meat before cooking..
