  • wondering what would happen if she broke them up for about 10 minutes:P

  • is this chewing gum?

  • Checkout the flowers video on my channel

  • I tried making this for the first time tonight. I used the 4 tbs. tylose powder as mentioned in another comment since it was never mentioned in the video. My gumpaste came out very dry it seems. I didn't add hardly any of the remaining powdered sugar while needing because it was starting to crumble. Did I do something wrong? 4 egg whites, 4 tbs. tylose and 2lbs powdered sugar, correct? Hmmm

  • how much tylo we need

  • you need 2 scoops

  • you never said how many spoons of tylos powder i have to use

  • it is so good

  • @BorupHeidi I think you can tylose, gum tragacnth, cmc... they should work the same. Try to look it up though..

  • Hey I would like to have the exact recipe, it's possible you can lie it out? I would really appreciate it! :-)

  • Grrrr....!! Damn you ads!!

  • Would be very nice if Expert Village would edit this video and post up a copy of the recipe at beginning. I am now having to look through 292 comments in hopes that I find the recipe posted specifically by EV. Uggh.

  • how much tylose powder did you use?

  • how much of taylose should be added.

    mallika

  • Thanks for the tylose tip!!! i had tried making mm fondant before and it was too soft and wouldnt hold in place!!!! Can i use this gum paste to roll over my cakes or is it just for decorative items on top of the cake? Thanks

  • @BassounehI`m a cake decorater and I would stress to you not to use gum paste to cover your cake! Its not the same as fondant and will not only harden but will taste bad too.If your fondant is to soft try kneading in extra powdered sugar and remember not to roll it to thin or it will be fragile and break to often.

  • @BlueSatin84 Thanks!!!!! i'm hoping that one day i will be able to decorate one of my cakes and be satisfied with the results!!!! i'm a newbie and i'm still learning via trial and error!!!!

  • Can you chew it? :3

  • would it be okay if you mixed everything by hand?

  • what is the differences between fondant n gum paste? if i do have TYLOR what i can i use!!

  • what is the differences between fondant n gum paste?

  • Comment removed

  • @pov20094nick gum paste is used for making flowers and other cake decorations that you want to set very hard. Fondant is mainly used for covering cakes. You can use fondant to make flowers, but they dont really set as hard as gum paste and usually dont look as realistic because you cant get the petals and leaves as thin. My basic rule is: cover with fondant, decorate with gum paste =) Hope that helps.

  • @kongsnightmare can i do this recipe but without the tylose becaus i live in iraq and we dont have this ingrediant i just want to cover the cake .

  • I will definetely try this out but sadly I see myself all covered in powdered sugar during this procedure... Its the same with flour. This powdery stuff keeps jumping on me with purpose!!!!

  • When you add the sugar cover your mixer with a moist towel, that way the dry ingredients won't fly.

  • hi, i want to know about my gum, i have gum from west afria its like pearl, when i mix it and added , the dof was very white but not hard so how many grams i need for 1k icing sugar please?

  • expertvillage, can u tell me how much tylose powder I need to use in order to make this gumpaste? And what's the difference between using tylose powder and water as glue rather than egg whites? Thank you in advance! Thank you for sharing your skills with us.

  • i dont have this time put up to ludicrous speed and slowy add sugar i think not rapid pase time i gum

  • Oh my god, what are you, six? You write like a kindergartener. Go back to high school.

  • @elizabethrice3 Yeah, I think she should have had someone else write the subtitles. Allowing yourself to make grammar errors only teaches others to do the same.

  • how much that tylos powder do you use

  • I had to beat up double the recipe's worth of soft royal icing to fix it (recipe asked initially for 4 egg whites, approx 800-900g icing sugar, I had to beat up in total 8 egg whites and 1600g royal icing.).

1/3 portion at a time (fixing took 3 batches), I broke the gum paste that was too hard into thumbsize bits before dumping them into the royal icing and beating it until it was the soft/slightly fluffy consistency before kneading it later.

  • Nicholas Lodge gumpaste recipe asks for 12 tsp of CMC. It said the amt you need varies according to humidity etc, but when I added 12 tsp(I suspect it's partly because I got the purest grade of CMC, as well as Australia being really dry), my gumpaste turned unkneadably hard.

  • Thanks very much for this video! This recipe you use coincides exactly with the 'Nicholas Lodge' flower paste recipe, which I'd gotten from a sugar craft book. It is hard to know how 'soft' the consistency should be from just words alone and your video answered that question. ^_^

  • I found tylose in a small cake supply store in Sunny Side (Queens, NY)

You can find any thing online nowadays

  • doesn't raw egg = salmonella?

  • i asked that too :D the answer is buy pasterized eggs

  • can you use cornstarch/cornflour instead of tylose powder?

  • how r u alergic 2 egg

  • Please DO NOT confuse gumpaste with Fondant. They are two different things and are used for different functons. Gum paste can be rolled out very thinly to make realistic flowers that cannot be done with fondant alone. Flowers made with gum paste can last forever in optimum condition.

  • @piperyendor thanks! this really helps! i was going to make a cake using sugar gum paste as the frosting!

  • @TheMonkeylover11 Tylose power is available on line and in specialty baking stores, and actually, it most certainly is NOT the same thing! This is for figures, flowers and things of that sort and is going to dry as hard as the counter top she is kneading it on! MM, or marshmallow fondant, is like play dough and is for covering cakes and it intended to be eaten. THIS IS NOT!! Please be informed before commenting.
