  • Back when music video's were FUN!!

  • Roger calls out my name under his breath..."Lisette". *sigh*

  • lol so funny when john syarts to freak out 1

  • good song by the way, now that halloween is coming up, this definitely should be a good video to watch on halloween night

  • Lo vi de chico y recuerdo que me causó gran impresión. Pero pensé que hoy en tal vez no estuviera tan bueno. Me equivoqué!!! Es espectacular!! mejor que la mayoría de los videos actuales. Gracias por subirlo.

  • I don't know why they left this off their newer collection of videos -it's so great! I have to findthe original Duran Duran videos that we watched 90 million times in high school...

  • for,me the best

  • I love this because it reminds me of "The Fog", the original and superior movie. A possible inspiration, perhaps?

  • Classic duran ,love it.

  • Love it! One of my favs, from a small town in California, the only way to see this was on a early collection of vids, included the uncensored version of "Girls on Film" and "

    the Chauffeur.

  • Love it! One of my favs, from a small town in California, the only way to see this was on a early collection of vids, included the uncensored version of "Girls on Film" and "

  • @pdxgrl1 YES!! I was from a small town in British Columbia Canada and I was obsessed with finding this video. I finally did when I found the video cassette in some obscure store in my town that included GOF and TC :) Good times!

  • Dark.... I love dark! :P

  • Awesome even now after all this time!!!!!

  • Freaking awesome

  • love the song but Simon's 'acting' is as wooden as the creaking deck planks

  • HELL YEAH...Duran Duran and Zombies, what more could you want?!!!

  • I believe Simon is quoting from Will Shakespeare

  • @Tigger1571 it's from Romeo & Juliet. =)

  • B R A V O !!!!!

  • These guys love boats don't they? (RIO)

  • I never saw this. quite awesome ridiculousness. <3 Duran Duran.

  • Dang Roger is fine <3

  • Jonathan Taylor my fav <3 <3 <3

  • Reminds me of Cave of the Winds, because the first time I heard this song we were in the car on the way there.

  • This is one of my favorite Duran songs. It's so eerie and amazing.

  • My all time favourite song...just sets an eerie mood for inspiring work, and as an artist this is a great thing!!

  • they made a video for this? HOLY SHIT. lol

  • @sexydevil12 I know right!! XDD So great though

  • Russell Mulcahy directed the videos that they made when they were in Sri lanka and Antigua. that were later released on the video compilation. Hungry like the wolf, save a prayer in Sri Lanka and Night boat (i think) and Rio in Antigua. Lonely in your night mare had mixed footage. He also directed I'm still standing by Elton John which is very similar to Rio.

  • that how UNSTAGED should look like...

  • Man, it's been at least 25 years since I've seen that video. Bless you!

  • I wore this section of my VHS tape when I got it. This was an amazingly awesome song! :D

  • when he goes up in pitch and volume at the end of the word, "boat" in the chorus, he sounds like someone came up behind him and tickled him unexpectedly.

  • @Leetah36 that would be me hold on mom is calling me down for cornflakes no that is wrong it is my wife punching me in bed and getting me out of my dream

  • @Leetah36 Very observant LOL

  • mistery sound and video.

  • true to that statement!! I LOVE SIMON!!

  • but Roger is the only who appears to survive in the island, isn't it?.again this vid must be in another dvd with more videos others than those of the greatest

  • I always loved this song & video...I was just re-watching & trying to figure out the storyline..so they're waiting for the Nightboat...after dark the zombies come out & attack everyone except Simon, turning them into zombies too..simon was already on board the boat so he was safe & sailed away......is this what everyone else comes up with?

  • DD EQUALS TOTAL BABES!!!!

  • please take me back im not happy here :(

  • I get those ''mommies-monsters'' at 2:22 I would touch john like that if I could.

    3:04 is so funny...

nick: what´s going on? (simon talking to himself)

andy: simon, what happen? (simon talking to himself) simon? simon! LOL

  • @jtgiselle i know...lol that part always cracked me up!!

  • even john´s scream is hot!

  • Anyone know who directed this?

  • @kendobbie73 Russell Mulcahy,an aussie film maker, directed most of their early videos.

  • I've been a Duran Duran fan since 1984, and know this song backwards, but it's the first time I've seen the clip to it. Duran and the walking dead - two of my favourite things. :-)

  • Who is Nick touching at 3:40? Is that Andy or Roger?

  • @gabrielgray7 I'm pretty sure it's Andy.

  • I love Duran Duran... my kids don't appreciate their awesomeness!!!!!

  • why dont they put this and careless memories on to future hits dvds

  • DD are wonderful, and this video is brilliantly 80's. haha i think the best part of the video is the unnecessary scream.

  • Master piece

    D-I-V-I-N-E

  • wow was a good video love the look at the end when he sees roger still left their priceless.

  • LOVE this video....

    John:--Hey Whats wrong?

    Simon: Ahhh Nothin.

    lol

    LOVE DURAN DURAN FOREVER!!!

  • This is one of my favorite Duran Duran songs, ever.

  • If only DD had embraced post-punk/experimental-like leanings of songs like this a bit more often. They could be a very creative band when they wanted to and showed great potential on their first album. They still weren't bad though, just could have been more respected.

  • I saw them do this live and it sounded amazing

  • I am curious on the quote from Simon LeBon about the ferry"s mid wife, on a boat the size of an agate stone on the fore finger of an orphan?

  • @godshackeysack1

It's from 'Romeo & Juliet'. google "queen mab speech" and you can find the whole thing

  • i drove my mother crazy with this song i also had the 12"version of it. stil loving this song and now my little brother is using it to get inspirated to write some songs for his band

  • Be wary when ye make fun of faeries,

Lest ye may see thyself a tree!

  • It still sounds like Simon says "She is the Faries' Midwife" Haaaaaaa! ;->

  • @Sazzied2

Simon quotes Mercutio's speech from "Romeo & Juliet" -

She is the fairies' midwife, and she comes In shape no bigger than an agate-stone On the fore-finger of an alderman, Drawn with a team of little atomies Athwart men's noses as they lie asleep; Her wagon-spokes made of long spiders' legs, The cover of the wings of grasshoppers, The traces of the smallest spider's web, The collars of the moonshine's watery beams, Her whip of cricket's bone, the lash of film ...

  • @jastj It did sound familiar. orphan/alderman, thank you for clearing that up.

  • @jastj Thanks! Thought it sounded like Shakespeare.

  • My favorite!!!

  • Night of the living Duran Druan! =)

  • @deadbydawnnn haha I like that.

  • What i liked about DD is that despite being a pop band they always had great lyrics.

Not every so called artist from the 80‘s can say the same.

  • I love the eerie keys in this....

  • ripple river yellows.....

  • One of my favorite songs by DD, great depth musically. So much to listen to!!

  • yes!

  • HAHA badass! u guys should check out deftones' version of this song

  • @cfhstyo they did this and the chauffeur...hmm

  • Lot of Fulci vibes in this vid.

  • early dURAN DURAN

  • aaaa

  • Duran Duran vs. Zombies...the guy who wrote Pride and Prejudice and Zombies should write it.

  • haha Funny "Better Than Thriller"...LMAO

  • Nick Rhodes chased after the Zombies, and before they knew it, they were covered in blusher, lip gloss and eye shadow..... it was simply terrifying!!!!

  • @stonewinners Made me chuckle; Nick Rhodes is the best...........

  • @stonewinners

yeah well, you may not be old enough to understand, don't take the piss,he is a genious.

  • @roxette2 The irony...."Genious" - learn how to spell it mate! :)

I was old enough to enjoy Nick Rhodes the first time around ..... and I completely enjoyed the totally camp over -the-top blushed face and glossy lips and pouting. I agree ...he is a genius. Not quite David Sylvian but pretty damn close.

  • @stonewinners Genius comment.

  • nice track... check my uploads too

  • Did one of the Zombies finally get Nick?

  • /watch?v=mH1lL2bFseQ

  • One of me best childhood's souvenir !!!

  • This is still art..it was then and is now.GREAT MUSIC GREAT TALENT!!!

  • I remember counting the minutes of seventh period to be over just so me and my friends could rush home after school to watch this and the other videos on the DD VHS collection. This video was especially good because we got to hear each of our guys speak. *swoon*

  • @Marimar227 we did that too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is the reason i moved to Europe partly in my youth, i was so into it then, anything to hear thier voices of course, awesome, stands the test of time

  • you know, in some ways , this song seems like a dark reflection of 'Rio"

the model in rio-----> zombie woman

yacht in Rio-------> broken down ship in nightboat

everyone smiling, happy in rio-----------> everyone screaming or running in this video

    interesting....

  • this is proof that the should speak more often in their videos!

  • They all say That Mj started the video clips as we know them today, but this clip says the truth, released in 1981 and Thriller in 1983...Duran Duran did the breakthrought

  • so much better than Triller!!!I couldn't find Simon's phrases.I looked in all books but they're only short versions of Romeo & Juliet and then they don't have these phases!! :(

Watchin' this video for the 100000 time, just love DD and they're the BEST BAND EVER!!

  • @heloisamariani

HI- glad to know that I wasn't the only one that spent hours looking this up- and yes it is from Romeo & Juliet - you can google R & J words and find this or put in part of the speech and then google it!

  • @heloisamariani

Just checked it out to be sure- it is from R & J - Act 1 , Scene IV and is uttered by Mercution (Romeo's friend) . They and other friends have been talking about dreams and Romeo says he had a dream and Mercutio says so did he and he dreamt that dreamers often lie and Romeo says no -in bed you dream the truth and Mercutio answers that he sees Romeo has been visited by Queen Mab and then he launches into above speech. shakespeare.mit.edu/romeo_juliet

  • @katesatriani Hi!!Thanks for the information!!!Yesterday I found a store that had a pocket version of Romeo and Juliet and this book had Simon's phrases!!!Then,I bought it!!!Do you believe that a pocket book is complete and a regular book isn't???

  • The most diverse, talented band of the century; I dig you Boys!

  • Awesome!

  • LOVE the line from Romeo and Juliet spoken by Simon , wow!

  • What a great song!! Only a true Duranie would know this one! Love them!!

  • Haven't seen that one in ages - THANKS for uploading!

  • In reply to secretnovember - I have been a DD fan since the early eighties and I remember watching this clip on Rage (?) and hearing this quote and searching thrugh Shakespeare's plays until I found it !! I loved and still do their video clips- I remember sitting in an exam room after I;d finished my Yr 11 english exam and planning a video clip for New Moon on Monday !

  • at least john is always honest.

  • How much trim did John Taylor get in the '80s? I'd say a lot.

  • Never knew about this video. Very cool and yes kinda creepy.

  • easy john, get a grip

  • Wow, this is actually quite creepy. Very cool!

  • She is the fairies' midwife, and she comes

In shape no bigger than an agate-stone

On the fore-finger of an alderman,

Drawn with a team of little atomies

Athwart men's noses as they lie asleep

  • been a fan for 26-27 years and had yet to learn this lyric - thanks (from australia) :)

  • i wonder why they left roger and took off. that's rude. i'm calling the police.

  • I didn't know they did a video for this. Thank you for posting.

  • Duran Duran forever

  • @parkerrusso You can hear Hungry Like The Wolf in the beginning because it's from a video which has their clips back to back and HLTW was before this.

  • Wow, this takes me back to being 13 and watching the duran duran collection on betamax over and over again. Thanks!

  • @weelisag Same here. And I was sooo in love with John Taylor...

  • @weelisag wow this takes me back to when I was 29 ! and I was just about to get a VHS recorder to tape off MUCH MUSIC in canada !

thriller is a masterpiece as soon as you know this video!

w michael jackson buuu Duran Duran I'm sorry but I think so ... even if this video is beautiful ...

  • Why was John screaming in that one sunset shot?

  • @playingbass45 i think the zombies were possessing him .

  • Geez, so they just leave poor Rog on zombie island? Cruel. It should have been Nick.

  • This has a great "Night of the Living Dead" vibe to it. They were ahead of their time.

  • they set the pace alright. Some of their videos are timeless classics, like this one. almost 30 years old and still cool as hades.

  • John Taylor and Simon Le Bon are so cute in this video

  • the perfect video for holloween!
