The spells are too badass to NOT be a caster in this game. Spells like Axe of Torment, Fire and Ice, Deathbolt, and the fabled Symbol of Torment are the best spells I've seen in ANY rpg. They DEFINE unlimited power
I always play as a magician in RPG games. Oddly enough, I sorta became a warrior in Planescape.
I was nearly indestructable by the game's end because of my ultra fast regeneration ability. Heck all i had to do was run around the screen for a couple of seconds and voila! Health full again. =)
Or you can say we will miss these kind of games :( I love this game. THough I let my friend borrow it and I'll ask him to take it back LOLZ! so I can play again.
To be honest, you get sooooooooooo much more from this game by having very high intellect, wisdom and charisma, I can't stand playing this game as anything other than a caster because you lose out on sooo much content, not to mention the TRUE ending to the game.
-> 45axelh: I actually got stuck early on (in the Dead Nations, I think) and had to start my game over, because one of those three stats was not high enough (and I ended up making everyone mad). Also, something really interesting I noticed: the sound of the wind whistling as the spell animation ascends to the skies ( 0:08 ) sounds exactly like the sound repeated over and over during the ash storms in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. I guess that sound was pulled from a "sound library" ?
@45axelh basically for the sake of the story you shoulkd get a hight wisdom and intelligence but to behonest the spells aren't that great because their usage is very limited and you can't rest (besides in inns) like in baldur's gate... so you will find yourself soon with no spells and then your pretty f***ed

Missiles of Patience can actually be more powerful than level 9 spells if you know how to use it correctly ;)

With the tech we're playing with in games today, we should be seeing a proper representation of the planes in a three-dimensional game surely.

I don't know, I think it'd need a multi-dimensional representation.

Yeah, i notice it too. Still good enough, no complaints from me about the choice of sound. Of course original sounds are always best, but hey. =P

@MetalAriel Dak'kon can handle most of the fights for you with you just supporting him and Morte.

@45axelh
agreed. with the right equipment and proper uprades (blade and stats from unlocking the circle) dakkon slaughters pretty much everything.
