  • Anyone with half a brain will know that a decent set of tires will wake this car up. The stock tires that come with the Ralliart are pure garbage. Best mod dollar for dollar

  • @CaptObvious75 Would you reccomend a wider tire in the same series or a better/wider tire altogether? If so, which tire? My buddy uses Michelin Pilot Sports in 215 and he stands by them, they have to make them for everyone, not just those in a hot climate..

  • @DontTakeItCirrusly For a good price tire, best bang for buck are the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110. Look them up... very good tire for the price

  • @CaptObvious75 I'm more in the market for bang, than I am buck. I do need all season though, would it perform better with just the wider tires, or better tires? I guess the weight reduction would help as well. . .

  • @DontTakeItCirrusly Going with 18x8 and using 235 potenzas will make a world of differance in this car. Before reducing weight, I would say get sway bars,coilover(if you have the bucks)/springs(if you don't...swifts are pretty nice) and casters. Those will give you pretty good improvements for not a lot of money in suspension.

  • @ColdNapalm42 I appreciate your feedback, I've looked into larger sway bars, as well as fatter tires, however, I do actually use it for gravel gunning, and lowering the car isn't a real option... I've also heard Yokohama's are best for gravel, due to their softer compound in most occasions. I'm thinking a 235 on the factory wheels, then an intercooler sprayer unit. I'm not sure which sway bar to get first, the front or back, and would like to experiment with having upgraded versions of both..

  • @DontTakeItCirrusly The stock rims really shouldn't use 235s. Using extra wide tires like that means your wall are being held rigid by air only and not rims. That will kinda ruin the point of wider tires as tires held up by air only won't perform as well as ones held up properly by rims. You could do maybe 225 on stock, but not really 235. Thicker back will make your car track better on tarmac, front on gravel and snow. thicker front = understeer, thicker back = oversteer. Both = just more ;)

  • Of course it is probably an easy matter for an owner to do it yourself upgrade with the tires and sway bars so maybe the Ralliart is a sleeper if you know what I mean.

  • The Ralliart handling looks just as floaty and floppy as the GTS which I own. They should have upgraded the shocks and tires and added thicker sway bars to justify the price, and to match the 70 hp more which the Ralliart provides over the GTS. Mitsu seems to have made no attempt to upgrade the handling in the Ralliart which is a shame since the GTS is such a great little car but it's not a performance car. The Ralliart is a performance car in terms of engine and drivetrain for sure.

  • @Devastator771 why? a wrx is slower than a golf gti despite having more power and more-wheel drive, as proven by fifth gear. also, the golf has a much higher quality feel to the interior.

    And the gti is ugly as fuck imo, and doesn't have a WRC background like mitsubishi and subaru.

    If your buying a sports car interior really is the last thing to worry about unless ALL you do is commute.

    its all personal opinion, i drive an 05 wrx.

    And you won't know which car is best for you until you drive it YOURSELF.

  • @Devastator771 i don't see how you can call the gti ugly and the wrx good looking, but what ever, to each his own.

    i've driven a gti, haven't driven a wrx, though. i wouldn't call either a sports car per se, if i wanted that, i'd buy a mazda mx5 or genesis coupe. a hot hatch is supposed to be an all-rounder, something that can do everything, so while you could make that argument in a corvette, you can't really make it in a wrx.

  • @coolerdude44 Well seeing as the WRX has a big brother that is a full blown, world renowned race car,(or used to be before they droped out of the wrc) that's where my sports car argument comes in.

    But yeah i hate the new imprezas, which is why i drive an 05.

    To me Evos and imprezas will always be in a league of their own because of the wrc background, which is why i wouldn't compare them to anything else.

  • @kenmastersmaster yeah it's quicker than a straight line, but these cars were all built for handling. around a track, the gti is quicker because it's faster around the corners and can put its power down better despite having only front wheel drive

  • @kenmastersmaster look up fifth gear gti vs. wrx. i was surprised too, but the gti is lighter and it just puts its power down better. the bottom line is that you simply don't need 4wd when you're talking about 250 bhp or less.

  • They should had worked more on making a proper manual transmission rather than a wagon. Lancers will always be best in sedan flavor in my opinion.

  • I was looking for a hot hatch (with auto mode for the misses) and even waited 9 months for the Golf MK6 GTI to be released. Took both for a test drive and ran back to Mitsubishi and ordered a ralliart (2 month wait). Also the comes with 5 year warranty and road side assist plus 10 year warranty on drive train and engine. Ps was not that impressed with the Golf just felt wrong and the speedo so hard to read.

  • I own one and the performance is great but the lights at the bad are hideous untill at night the whole looks fabulous.

  • Just bought this. I also have an S2000 so i wasn't looking for another race car.

    The thing they dont show you is this car kills the STI/WRX in comfort/features. I drove them all and went with this because it has room to put all my gear in and is still fun to drive... Plus Recaro seats, paddle shifters, 700w audio with sub... And its more than fast enough for daily driving.

    This was meant to go up against the WRX hatchback, not the STI. 10K less than an STI or Evo.

  • This only shows that Mitsubishi EVO doesn't have all that good suspension or natural balance.

    All its performance comes from its rear torque spliting differential that basically steers the rear wheels helping eliminating the understeer.

  • depends on what gencoupe you want cause as every one knows the 2.0t gencoupe has a evo x engine just tuned down but sti sucks compared to an evo flat out the evo can handle way better
