@JavascriptHacker I appreciate that. This is a video I do plan on redoing though. I am a pro at disassembly on this and all 1911's now. I really dove in and learned the system quickly. Thank you and I am happy it helped. : )
@ chromefreak do you have the manual for the gun? It clearly tells you to fully cock the hammer, put the pin in the hole on the mainspring housing, then let the hammer back down. This saves your whole struggle after knocking the bottom pin put of the frame.
@derail516 Yes I have the manuel and no I did not read it and learned that lesson. That is why the video is still up and I did not edit it out. I could easily hide mistakes but choose to share my pain, lol. Anyways, I learned and hopefully, so do others who do not read fully. Thanks. : ) P.S. I have since completely learned not only this 1911 but also every 1911 you can think of and can do all my own work including high quality trigger jobs and many others. Thanks again.
@LifeisGood762 Bro., that is something I have never thought of showing on video but maybe I will do just that. There is a special made tool to use and I may do that in a video very soon. Thanks. : )
@Lookinformemarbles I thank you for watching it Mike. I made this video before I was partner and only had 10:59 to get it done. lol. I really need to re-shoot this one and the re assembly. I am going to do a quick VR but what stinks is I have to do it on my iphone because of time constraints. Thanks again Mike.
@bigbizable Once you got it, it will be a lot easier next time. lol. Don't let that get you down, it is a learning curve. Everyone who owns a firearm should be able to completely detail disassemble it. It is not easy and I salute you my friend. : )
@SLCsXe Thank you, I appreciate that. i have to do this to every firearm I have. lol. It is a disease, I have to know it as well as the back of my hand. Thanks again. : )
@weaponseducation Thank you Sir. It was a bit rushed because back when I shot this video, we had a ten minute time limit. It is one of the videos I am thinking of re-shooting now that I have unlimited time. I am really looking forward to meeting you in person and doing a shoot together. Now, if we can only get Pete to come down. lol. Seriously, that would be great. I will call you as soon as I can get a chance at some normal hours. lol.
@ryanburbridge No, I was not talking about you. lol. I will check out your video today. I will leave a comment and thanks. I made this video when we had 10 minutes so was a bit rushed and maybe I might re-shoot it. Thanks.
Man Chrome, I love your stuff. Thanks a lot for the video. You are right on about the other videos out there, about the disassembly of the 1911 being vague. Thanks a million Chrome! Keep'um in the 10 ring!
@TheRubberDuck139 I really appreciate it. I made this video when we only had 10 minutes and it is one of the videos that I was thinking about redoing now that I have unlimited time. I really appreciate the kind words. Thank you. : )
@m1cha3lsss I think they are both great choices but I love the pump action better but that is just me. I think the sound of racking a pump shotgun is enough to scare anyone to death. lol. You do need to train more with a pump, I think. Once again, I don't think you could go wrong with either. Thanks.
@m1cha3lsss I think as special editions that are kept in cases and never shot, they are fine. I think if they are going to be used, I don't like them. I do love the gold leaf engravings on special editions, they look great but I would never buy a gold plated firearm to shoot but that is just me. lol. Thanks.
Put that claw hammer back in your garage and invest in a brass hammer, it won't mar your receiver, if you accidentally hit it. I also use a dead-blow hammer for a lot of my gun work, the face is made of plastic or rubber, so you can hit the receiver and not have an issue.
@vbrtrmn I also have the same dead- blow hammer but what I try to do in most cases is do my own work with tools that most people have at home. I want to show that with care, we can do something on our own without spending a fortune but you are right, I should have used that hammer. Thanks.
@TheHobbyistChannel I also love them. I am sorry it took so long to answer your comment but I did not know you had left one until tonight. lol. Thanks.
@Jimmyb9387 I know it is and I am sorry but, I only have 10:59 because I am not a youtube partner. If I ever become a partner, I will re-make it and slow way down. thank you for watching.
@Mr45Bullitt I appreciate that Bill. I have not had time to even sleep much in the last 2 weeks. We are really busy and we are picking up a lot of work from a couple of companies that went under. I need a break, lol. It is either very few hours or way to many, I would be very happy to just work 40. Thanks for all Bill.
@Cr0cket20 Always great to hear from you Cr0cket. I really appreciate you taking the time to read my blog. I will try and post a new blog at least once every week or two. Thanks again brother.
@cromer77 Bro., I don't know how it is highlighted, I thought I was the only one seeing that, I actually thought that spell check thought I was misspelling a word. lol. Somehow it did it on its own or I accidentally hit something but, I don't know. haha. I think your blog is awesome and some ML right back at you.
good stuff. If you really want to know your gun, take it apart completely. The only thing I'm scared of is undoing the springs under tension. Good vid.
@gruelin1 Thats right, dive right in. You will either learn it and how to put it back together or you have to swallow your pride and take it to the gun shop. I have had to do this only once and that was with probably the easiest little gun I have. The single shot Colt that was my Mothers. I could not get it back together, I was beat by that one.lol.
Great vid Chrome! I like to get on that level with my firearms too. Yeah they're fun to shoot but it's also just as much fun to know what makes 'em go. I take 'em apart sometimes just because I'm bored. It's funny that it's kinda relaxing. Later dude.
@jocephus44mag I agree, it is relaxing and it is what i love to do. I do it all the time.lol. I told GwarGwar earlier in the comments, I think we have a mental disorder.lol.
Great video! You are probably a car mechanic too. Or at least a watch smith. Anyhoo, I really enjoyed this video. I own a GI Springfield and a Colt 1991/Series 80. You have taught me something today and for that I am thankful!
@jonnybanger No, I am a Crane Operator but, in my heart, I am a want to be, gun smith. It comes apart a lot easier than it goes back together. Thanks for watching.
The last time I did a full take down was on a friends 1911 and I remember having a semi helmet fire especially when you get to the safety and main spring, on cleaning a A1 1911 how often would you clean the firing pin and the extractor?
@TNPviewer I have cleaned the slide completely every time I have shot the pistol but, I am a nut job when it comes to clean guns.lol. I would guess normally, about 500 rounds but, thats a guess. Thanks for watching.
@glock10mm lol. I want to get to the point that I can do that. I am serious. I have a passion for doing this. It is definitely harder to put it back together, than to disassemble it. Thanks.
Just got a Springfield Defender and this video helped me a lot.
