  • I fully blame SFdebris for getting me into Dr. Who. Now I can't get enough of this series.

  • I love this intro!

  • Does anyone know who did this version of the song?

  • d-d-d-d-d-d doctor doctor

  • MY OTHER STARSHIP IS A TARDIS

  • I don't get all the hating on RTD. I guess it's inevitable when old series get rebooted.

  • @mushroomshrub because he's the worst writer on the show.

  • @lockyuk2000 Fuck you

  • There's only one doctor...

  • @Craydon there can be only one?

  • YES! WIN! Can't wait for you to start this. I've only watched the new series but I've always wanted to find out more about the original. You, my friend, are awesome.

  • i was kind of hoping for something like lost i really hope he plans to review that series too lol.

  • @thewewguy8t88 Apologies to any Lost fans... but I would be curious to know Chuck's thoughts on the woeful inconsistencies and idiocies that plagued that show as it went on!

  • what is the name of the song in this video,.

  • Woot! Dr. Who reviews! XDDD

  • To be perfectly honest.. I thought the new Doctor Who was rubbish when it first came out. Now though.. I think it's fucking awesome and look forwards to each season. I think it was just my dislike of Eccleston's Doctor Who that was pushing me off of it, as I love Tennet's portrayal and Smith's is really good, too.

Anyways, I'm hoping these will be like the Red Dwarf reviews that would look at series rather than singular episodes. Plus DW isn't anywhere as bad as Voyager and Enterprise...

  • I'm just glad I'm using the latest beta of Firefox, so that blip.tv videos work on my old computer.

  • I can't get into British sci-fi. The humor escapes me, the plots are weird, and sometimes I can't even understand the actors through the accents. If it weren't for Amy pond's legs I would be totally done with it.

  • i really loved russel t davies stuff, reminded me of buffy and i think that was a good direction for the show.

though i do think the moffat love in is a bit OTT, people bring up end of season 3 christ when the doctor made a big bang to reset the universe back to what it was and survived cause amy loved him. thought season 5 was great overall, ending was massively disappointing.

  • Wow. Doctor Who from SFDebris. That's cheered up my day hugely (after an atrocious football match for Carlisle United). Just hope the BBC morons don't manage to screw this one up too. I honestly wonder what they think they're doing sometimes, since the Red Dwarf reviews could only have got more people to watch it.

  • I was totally going to suggest Doctor Who, but never got around to it. Awesome.

  • God I so happy right now i cant even say it. This will be so awsome :D

  • woohooo~

Btw I love your review for Red Dwarf

  • @lockyuk2000 AND FUCK BANANAS. AND FUCK TOURETTES.

  • YESSSSSSSS!

  • I'm presuming it will be available through iTunes since the Red Dwarf reviews have been. Is that correct?

  • YES!!!

  • Doctor who!

  • Doctor who!

  • DOCTOR WHO!!!!!!

  • YES!!! I was hoping you'd review the series DOCTOR, DOCTOR starring Matt Frewer!!

  • I love the Phillip Hinchcliffe era of Who (1974-76), those have some of the best stories all together.

  • EEEEE!! My favorite reviewer and my favorite series?! DREAM COME TRUE!

  • hmmmm.

Don't get me wrong..., I'm excited but...

    hmmmmm.

  • Hmm I look forward very much to seeing all those wretched RTD scripts torn apart, really Braga is Shakespeare in comparison lol.

  • @yosheeee My first thought on seeing this was "I hope he reviews the good stuff and not the Nu Who rubbish... but then I remembered this was Chuck, and his Voyager reviews are what makes him the best reviewer on YouTube... so the worse the script, the better the review! C'mon, Chuck, Davies' "awesome" episodes are crying out for a good bashing. And yes, he and some of his fellows make Braga look like Shakespeare (ironic, considering how Nu Who treated Shakespeare... on par with JK Rowlings!)

  • @BanjoOz Yes, it's about bloody time!

  • @BanjoOz *SMACK*

  • @BanjoOz Fuck off pal, Davies is a supreme storyteller and you;re just a nobody on the internet

  • @yosheeee How do you know he's going to thrash RTD? Face it, you're a faggot

  • @HeyArnoldsspleen you disgusting sycophant! How can you place fawning allegiance to RTD- an openly gay producer, in the same breath as coming out with sickeningly homophobic abuse like that.

You're a stupid cocksucking loser, pal.

  • @sadako24 Hearing anyone call Davies a "supreme storyteller" was funny enough... but the same guy hatefully calling others "faggots" was beautifully ironic, wasn't it? :)

  • @BanjoOz It was indeed- I've come across that Heyarnold arsewipe many times defending RTD's shitty stories and making out he's the 'true' fan for loving the whole RTD rubbish blindly.

  • @sadako24 Heh. Any totally blinkered fanboy bugs me, honestly... even Robert Holmes wrote a couple of scripts I find hard to get excited about! :) Nobody's perfect (but I still find it hard to see how ANYONE can consider Davies a great WRITER, even if they liked him as producer).

  • @BanjoOz The problem is a lot of fans never expected the show to come back, or be so popular. And when it did there grew a worrying trend to treat RTD as a deity who'd achieved the impossible, could do no wrong and should never be questioned. Dissociative thinking saw ratings figures overrule story quality. So they'd spin it that RTD wasn't a bad writer, he was an 'innovative genius', breaking the rules of narrative, and that if fans didn't like his stories the problem must lie with the viewers.

  • Woo Hoo Sfdebris-you Da MAN!!!! Can't wait to see your thoughts on this classic slice of British Science Fiction :)!

  • AWESOME. Nuff Said

  • @sfdebris - you're a masochist! But we love you for it.

I'm betting a PT Dalek episode will be amongst the first reviewed.

  • what's this channels view of Battlestar Galactica? Thanks

  • meh. I mean, it's a great show, but I can't see amazing reviews coming from Dr. Who.

  • Great lol. I am a doctor who nut. I have a ton of dr who dvds. Most expensive dvds I bought.

  • If anything Chuck should start with An Unearthly Child, the very first episode of Doctor Who.

  • What's funny is I just got the Doctor Who pinball game working on my PC.

My face when Davros Jackpot :D

  • This is going to be awesome.

  • I have a terrible worry that you won't hate the new series as much as I do and thus my opinions will never be validated.

    Feels bad.

  • With so many doctor who episodes, how will you be deciding which stories to review?

I take it from the trailer you intend to review stories from both the new and old series, but will your decision be based by requests from just donators?

  • maybe you should wait till it is actually loaded onto the site? Oh and link in the description box is customary.

  • So your going to start reviewing doctor who eh?

guess I should start watching them now.

  • WOOT!!!! YOU THE MAN! Debris you are THE MAN! Doctor who is my third favirote sci-fi, under startrek and the new Battle Star Gellatica. Once again, YOU THE MAN!

  • Boo! I was hoping for Babylon 5.

  • @Joekitty001, likewise. Hopefully he'll get around to it eventually. Or was this our last best hope?

  • @Joekitty001 Oh come on. He'd have to do a montage per episode to describe how each series running plot related to what was happening. Plus he'd be bashing a good series.

  • Who? What? Where? When? Oh right... got it.

  • Ha, it starts on my birthday!

  • I live in the United Kingdom (Britain) and I have to say this show is utter shit. Its on BBC 1 only OAP's and the unemployed watch that channel. I really dislike this show. However the reviews are not made for me but for everyone and I am sure they will be KICK ASS as always.

  • @Gaius51 If you think the show sucks, then you should really be looking forward to the reviews. Is not sfdebris at his best when he is making fun of the worst episodes?

  • @Gaius51 You are an idiot with no taste and zero I,Q

  • EEEPPPPP Yay!!!

  • when's 'passing through gesthemane' going to be up?

  • Weirdly enough, just last night I was thinking 'it'd be cool if someone did SFDebris-style reviews of Doctor Who'... and now I get the real thing. :D

  • Are you at least going to post link-vids on this account when a doctor who vid is on blip?

  • Alons-y, Alonso!

  • They need to sell 11 in the fez as an action figure.

    Fez' are cool.

  • I watched one episode. I think it was called "The Stolen Earth." It was a load of nonsensical horseshit.

  • Brilliant! Yet another reason to love sfdebris!!! Thanks so much, I can't wait to see what you'll do. Live long and prosper, and don't forget, Geromino!

  • HELL YES.

  • Hell yeah!

  • where did you get the song?

  • It was completely and utterly inevitable for him to review Doctor Who. I realy enjoyed his Exterminate segment of one of his reviews. As well as his "Sonic Screwdriver" joke in his Star Trek III review.

  • Oh you brilliant, magnificent man, I've been waiting for you to do this for quite some time - and now you're starting, and on my birthday, too! What a present!

All that's left to say: Fantastic! Brilliant! Allons-y & Geronimo!

  • I LOVE YOU NOW. no not in that way!

  • I was hoping he'd start doing some Dr. Who reviews for quite awhile. While there are some really ground breaking stories, there are some poor ones as well. Of course in certain cases, such as alot of the Classic Who, the cheap effects may be pardoned considering technology back then and the lack of a budget.

  • i love you

  • YAY!! Doctor Who reviews. Sweet!

  • EXTERMINATE EXTERMINATE EXTERMINATE!

Will you be starting with the new series, or the classics?

  • Oh, awesome! But it makes one wonder, how are the review lengths going to stay down? I mean I love Dr. Who, it was the only reason I watched TV between 8-14, but it's about as consistent as George W Bush's mastery of English.

And Nuwho some days just skips into straight magic territory. S3 ending anyone?

  • Comment removed

  • Hell yes! If I may suggest "the androids of Tara" as one to review. It was part of the key to time series with Tom Baker and Romana mark I.

  • YESS!!!!

  • Yes! Great series to tackle next!

  • I dreamed this would happen. Literally, like last night. It was pretty weird.

  • No way,this is GR8!!!

    I <3 Dr Who.

  • soooo. no firefly. :(

  • TIMELORD! all mighty we need a doctor!

And we got one, well actually 11? [ I think]

  • @seanfulldark 13 I think.

  • so, will there be a different theme for each doctor?

  • IS THERE A DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE?

  • Finally, I've been hoping for this for a long time.

  • Doctor who-oh, (Hey) doctor who

    Doctor who-oh, (Hey) the tardis

    Doctor who-oh, (Hey) doctor who

    Doctor who doc, doctor who

    Doctor who doc, doctor who

  • my viewing if sfdebris will go down 50%

  • @oliviasdaddy1 yes, i will not watch this doctor who or something but I will respect who want to do it. What about Sliders review?

  • @oliviasdaddy1 Idiot

  • Depends which Doctor Who Chuck's going to cover first, and when. Do you plan to do just one review of the whole series, or many of your favourite stories?

  • Yikes. That's a pretty tall order. But hey if you can pull it off then more power to you.

  • Dr. whoooo yeah!

  • will this be on both channels or can it only be on blip cos of the bbc?

  • @winkles2314 Only blip, as you surmised. The BBC (and other corporations) are a large part of that.

  • @sfdebris so your saying i should make a blip account? lol

  • @sfdebris That brings up another question though. How do you manage to keep your Star Trek reviews from being pulled down. Does Paramount simply not care or perhaps it's that they realize a review will do them more good than harm?

  • @sfdebris Can't you just publish the names of the people involved at the bbc and let us have him 'removed' from the equation?

  • YAY! Awesomes you're reviewing Doctor Who, Chuck! I'll be sure to check it out next week! :3

  • Huzzah! A million Jelly Babies for you my dear sir!

  • omg! This was MY suggestion... I know a hundred other people probably suggested it too but a big personal thank you from me!

  • Damnit I don't watch Doctor Who! Well I bet your reviews will be awesome anyway... :D

  • Sweeeeeeeet!

  • You picked the only sci-fi franchise with MORE episodes than Star Trek.

  • and here comes the timelord.

  • awesome

  • interesting. I have never seen 1 episode of dr who. No channel here has ever shown it and I didnt look it up on my own.

  • Ever since that last announcement I knew this would happen.

    Hell yeah!

  • i think i just wet myself with excitment

  • Dr. who?

  • Well, this should definately be entertaining. :)

BTW, are you going to use this song as your "opinionated Dr. Who" theme? Cause it works perfectly.

  • I'm hoping he'll use "Doctor in distress" as the theme song for these reviews. :D

  • THANKYOU!!!!!!!!

  • hey cool. that'll sure keep you busy for a LONG time.

  • lol, first red dwarf and now dr who. so glad us brits are getting some attention.

  • BEST

    NEWS

    EVER!!!!!!!

  • thank you chuck... Thank you for this wonderful gift. I greatly look forward to it

  • Oooooh.. very nice. Looks like I'll have to start catching up on the old series.

  • so, no Firefly?

  • Nice I was hoping to see your view on Dr Who!

  • At laST!

  • I was hoping it'd be BSG but this will surely be entertaining.

  • \o/

  • oh this will be fun

  • Chuck ripping into the inconsistencies and plot holes of Doctor Who? Sign me up for that shit!

  • @Dimbo It would be if Doctor Who didn't (or couldn't) use time-travel to mention any and ALL inconsistancies but still should be fun :D

  • Comment removed

  • @Dimbo it's really not sci-fi though, it's more fantasy. how much actual science do you ever hear on the show? If you go into as if he was a wizard instead of a timelord you would be a lot less grumpy right now. stop taking the show so seriously.

  • @The80sKickAss lol, I know, I get that, like I said, it's classic BRITISH Sci-Fi, which is always more fantastical than actual straight up Sci-Fi, like I said, I take the whole thing in stride, not seriously. But 'Time Lord becomes mystical energy being when everyone thinks Doctor at the same time' is just fucking ridiculous. If you make your character too strong, then it stops being believable and just gets preposterous, even for Doctor Who.

  • @Dimbo lol so wait let me get this straight, your fine with the alien with two hearts that can regenerate into new people that flies around in his time machine/space ship and always manages to know just how to fix the problem at the last moment. but having a telepathic network help to restore the doctor to his original form is just too much for you?

  • @The80sKickAss The only thing that was missing from that episode was someone turning to the camera and saying "YOU do believe in the Doctor, don't you? Help him by clapping your hands and believing extra hard!". So yeah, even in what is essentially a kids show, there is a thing as being too sappy. The end of Nu Who series 5 was fairly similar but it worked - because they established and foreshadowed it early on so it didn't come the fuck out of nowhere.

  • @Ephabia I actually think "audience participation belief-in-fairies" would have only improved that finale, honestly. It couldn't be any worse, and at least I'd have laughed instead of vomited in my mouth.

  • @The80sKickAss Yes, that is exactly what I'm saying. If you spell it out like that, yes then of course it's going to sound stupid, also, I'm complaining about Dr who I realise how stupid that is. But yes, that's entirely what I'm saying. For me, personally, those other factors, 2 hearts, regenerates, travel through time/space, fix everything, are all things that are both established aspects of the character. The telepathic network was literal Deus Ex Machina, that was never foreshadowed.

  • @The80sKickAss sorry for the double reply btw.

I mean, if you looked at the Lungbarrow book then, yeah, you could say that makes sense, and if you take the path they were taking the 7th Doctor in you could say that's foreshadowing, or you could take the whole 'it was a paradox because of the altered TARDIS angle if you want, so you can explain it to your liking, and if you enjoyed it fair enough. But I to me it Davies going 'I could just write any old bollocks and make it work...' IMHO

  • @Dimbo Good point :P I gotta say though I prefer Steven Mofatt.

  • @Dimbo Pretty good to get second best comment without any votes.

And I found it plausible enough.

  • @trlkly Yeah, how the hell did that happen? I think it's cause everyone keeps replying to it.

Hell, if you found it plausible enough, more power to you, I just thought it was rediculous.

  • @Dimbo I do agree that I would have rather seen a more clever solution, but I do think Davies set it up pretty well, so it wasn't completely out of left field.

  • @trlkly Fair enough, it was to me though. It really annoyed me. I personally think he wrote himself into a corner with the Master's victory, and that the only way for him to resolve it was a Deus Ex Machina, and that's what he used.

Also, I'm removing the comment, I really don't want to argue about Doctor Who on YouTube, I'm kind of worried I might break it.

  • @Dimbo you'll have to refresh my memory?

  • @Dimbo it wasn't god did it, it was explained. it was flimsy but it was explained and hinted at. i don't see how it was any worse than the doctor magically being out of the pandorica with no explanation at all..

  • Awesome! I can't wait to see your thoughts on my other favorite sci-fi TV show :D

  • Oh boy. As much as i'm looking forwards to this, I know this won't be pretty towards some of the older episodes.

  • YES!!! FINALLY!!! THANK YOU!!!
