  • what are those green ball things on a stick hes eating?

  • i wanna go to japan now especially if dudes like you are there. you are quite handsome but i was just wondering what it was that you were eating.

  • Wow, you knew that Santa Ramen has the best Ramen in the Bay Area.. true, true.

Back in college days in lived in Kyoto, which has a great chain of Ramen stores called "YOKOZUNA RAMEN", with a great looking Sumo wrestler mascot as their logo. It cost like Y500 at the time, amazingly cheap for such a high standard of Ramen! Kansai has killer Ramen, also famous are Kyushu and Hokkaido Ramen, every city has their own take on the soup flavour.... Mmmmmm.

  • I like ramen ichiran in tokyo. I had it once at Shibuya and another time in Roppongi. Under 1000yen or $10 I would still consider plenty affordable to me, considering I recently found out some people spend over $100 regularly on one pair of JEANS.

  • Is that DOTERA you're wearing?

It makes you look country boy in Japan.I mean it's cute.

I'm from fukushima.I guess You must have eaten

    Kitakata ramen a lot!

  • I dunno what its called, but its a big HEAVY robe that is actually quite comfortable. And I live in the country when I go to Japan.

No - our family in Japan is almost exclusively Sapporo Ichiban Miso flavor (which by the way tastes COMPLETELY different in the USA! Japan version tastes WAY WAY better). That or we go out and eat ramen.

Damn. You made me hungry now.

  • Hey! Hmm, so you speak fluent Japanese? And, is your dad japanese or irish? Hehe, if you don't answering, of course.

  • My Japanese is fairly close to native level, perhaps lacking some vocabulary but otherwise very good.

For your future reference, most mixed Eurasian's have a Asian mother (over 90%). Is that a good hint? :)

  • Ahah, ok, I see. Oh, and even if only one of your parents are Japanese, as it is in your case, are you still considered a nikkejin?

  • I'm not sure.

  • you mean the eurasians in asia or in a western country? because most couples in western country its usually btw a aw/wm but in asian country its usually between am/ww. If this is true.

  • No I think all over the world this ratio is true, over 90% of Eurasian kids have a asian mom and euro (caucasian) father.

  • the "bag it yourself" thing is in Norway too, thought it was normal everywhere.. it's just that we dont get it back in the thing you push around the store (forgot the name for it),they put it a bit further down the check out. Because of this it gets a lot of waiting customers behind in lines :P

  • the dango is a happiness foods for foreigners people! thank you telling me this one.

  • what part of japan are you in? && i'm curious on what the ramen place you were talking about is called~

    @.@;;

  • I'm in SF, California, USA.

But I was in Fukushima prefecture during this video!

The ramen place is incredibly hard to find on a world scale since its in the backstreets of a non major city, and has no name...lol.

  • Is that dango you're eating made of kusamochi? What's the coating?

  • Yes I assume so. The coating is anko.

  • Oh, okay. Thanks, I was just curious. :)

  • The priceincrease is crazy how they do that. By the way your hot! have a fab day.

  • I don't remember seeing this comment, but THANKS! XD lalalala~

  • What is the stuff that you're eating? It looks good.

  • the huge flakes of dandruff?

  • Actually, I think "The states" is like the only country in the world where the staff bag your groceries for you. They never bag your food for you in Sweden either.

  • They don't bag food for you in the midwest in the states either... only in the south.

  • lol you forgot to mention the rebate/refund thing when you go shopping in malls. Something about when you shop you can go to get a refund of like 10% or something, but i heard they try to make it really complex so people don't go get a refund lol. I live in the bay area too ;)

  • Cool! Which part of the BA?

I didn't know the details of the rebate thing. I'm a college student after all! What would I be doing shopping in JAPAN no less. Bank~!

  • Im in contra costa, antioch/brentwood. I like it here, california especially bay area is a nice place to live.

  • lol yeah the tall thing is dead on, when i went to japan in the hotel while in the shower i can't even raise my arm above my head without bumping into the ceiling. Im not even that tall only 6"0 lol the translator we were with told us the manager of the hotel said i was the tallest person shes ever seen and asked me what i ate in america lol.

  • hey^^ you look like an asian version of Daniel Redcliff:P (Harry Potter). By the way, how tall are you? in centimeteres please.

  • ~187cm

  • about how much does it cost to go to a movie in Japan?? I know that's a random question, but I work at a movie theater in New York and people always complain about the price.. So I was just wondering what it's like in Japan because of what you said about price increase

  • I've actually never been to a movie theater in japan. Ever. And the last time I went to one in America, was about a year ago (maybe not, but my point is I go very infrequently).

  • Mmmmm...Takoyaki, I had that today! Oishii! Huge flakes of dandruff...Haa, haa! How often do you come to Japan?

  • Once a year. I'm jealous of youuuuu (only if it was good).

  • that 1st thing you ate looked like a dead roach... haha

but then I saw the green fruit and was like "Crap I'm an idiot"! hahaha x-D

  • Its not fruit - lol. Its more like mochi, if you know what mochi is like?

  • lol sorry I don't... I need to get out more.. hahaha

  • what is mochi?

  • Its pounded sticky rice. Its so pounded that its more of a gooey glob rather than grains. Its really good when sweetened/flavored in various ways (I like bean paste...).

  • ooh i know that pounded goo of rice. the looks are very tasty!!!

  • wow,

the most exotic thing i have ever tasted is a kiwi!

    lol

    but yeh sounds nice! =)

  • I used to make fun of people who ate ramen noodles 'cause it was so easy to make I never thought it to be real nourishing food but now since I know it's apart of actual Japanese cuisine I'll never look at them the same. I wanna try the ones in Japan!

  • they always gave me ramen in huge ass bowls in tokyo!!

  • Same for me! Ramen was never too small in Japan wherever I go.

  • nice.

the music made the video easier to watch (more entertaining).

    :)

  • I enjoy watching your videos and your info about Japanese culture! ^_^

  • Thx man! I didn't know about the portion size and the price thing, it explains it all... All this time I thought that my memory was playing tricks. Like when you are a child and everything seems bigger than it actually is.

  • Haha, yeah they tend to make things smaller, rather than raise the price. Of course they can't do this for some things, such as gasoline, or manga (I guess they could reduce the number of pages? but that would be lame saussseee~!)

  • yes! i'll be able to reach everything in the supermarket! jeans might even actually be short enough to fit me!

  • nice editing! haha, this one was like 100x more interesting to watch.

and yeah.. I wouldn't know how to explain tonkatsu or takoyaki sauce. it's like.. thick worshire? haha

  • iMovie just like yourself! I guess its already on my mac so might as well use it. Delays posting vids though because I keep putting off editing so it the video just sits on my hd for like a week. So, thanks for that tip! Although I have used iMovie before and thought it sucked... but I guess I found a use for it.

  • haha, I'm only in Japan for a few weeks a year too. And I love takoyaki! And ramen! Where do you visit in Japan now?

I do live in California now. If I go to San Francisco, I'll try to take your suggestion.

  • Which part of California? I go somewhere north of Tokyo like 90 mins from Ueno on the bullet train. This year I had to stand...which suX0R3D!!

  • Central coast of California.

2 years ago I had to stand for an hour squished on the bullet train in that part between cars. I was traveling the day before new year's eve. Haha, so I know your pain.

  • ouch! I was pretty squished as well. I overheard the young girl next to me saying "saiaku..!" to her friend right before one of the stops so I knew it would only get worse...and she was right. The thing is, I also had a fat backpack and a suitcase, and had just been on a plane for 10 hours, as well as being on "middle of the night" time due to time zones! Oh and it started raining HARD when I got off.

  • I love takoyaki! heheh. I have it almost every week.

  • You're making me hungry T.T;

    I wanna try good ramen ;_;

  • eheh funny what you say about the small food package sizes. Whenever I talk to Japanese about America they always go on and on about how big all the food packages are, like coke sizes at the movies etc. :)

  • "its like eating huge flakes of dandruff"

hahaha awesome. Keep up the good work !

  • Hey thanks for the nice comment. I will try!
