@thatgirlisawesome101 if you removed your applications folder alltogether you'll have to reinstall your OS entirely and start again (or recover using Time Machine if you have a backup drive). If you just removed the Applications folder from your dock then it's not gone, just the dock shortcut is.

I have nothing against Windows (7), though, since I play video games on my PC that I built, and games for Mac aren't very plentiful(plus the devs usually don't optimize for Mac hardware as well as Apple can). It's just that Mac looks and functions better to me.
If you were a power user you would not want to be fighting the OS to do your work. The productivity increase with OS X over XP or Vista is nothing short of stunning. IF you learned how to use OSX you'd never touch Windows again.

OS X does support SLI or XFire hardware do you can't take advantage of having multiple GPU's in parallel. Plus the iMac Books are still using 2 generation old hardware (Core 2 Duo) while mobile PC's use the latest C2D and i7 technology. time to get caught up! OSX is great but the hardware is very primitive.

first of all there's loads of video editing software thats way better then what you get on windows because movie maker is for people who cant do anything and imovie which you get on mac is better and more professional also macs look nicer than windows on screen and off, mac has a motion sensor and windows doesn't, mac comes with ilife and i have loads of games on my mac that you can get on windows the only difference is that they are better.

It's important to remember that Snow Leopard is not a feature update so much as a core kernel update. The "under the hood changes" are plenty, and they are looking to the future of OSes.
Snow Leopard will scale extremely well with new hardware and upcoming technologies. At a price of $29, it's an absolute steal.
Again, the way the dock works is much worse than 7...when I minimise something in 7, it already minimises on the program's icon and also shows how many windows there and i can switch between then by just moving my pointer on them!
I guess it does boil down to personal choices and how one works. I like Window's windows and the way filing system works etc for example. Maybe mainly because I am used to it since I was a kid also.

I think Snow Leopard could have been just put in an osx update-charging for it is silly. Im a total Mac fan but a 6 gig disc is overkill for practically no changes.
The OPERATING SYSTEM is what your computer runs on. You can't see the operating system. What you see is the GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE. The OS has been changed to 64 bit, things are slightly faster. The GUI has only been changed slightly.

I got it once when trying to run Microsoft Office 2004 for OS X. After Rosetta was installed, it didn't come up again.
I'm guessing that Apple is hoping that the majority of Mac users have already upgraded their software to universal or Intel binaries and left Rosetta uninstalled to keep the OS as lean as possible.

Right click on the file and select GET INFO. Go down to "OPEN WITH" and select the app you want it to open with. Then click "CHANGE ALL." You can also just simply right click on the file and choose OPEN WITH... and choose the app you want it to open with. Simple as pie.

@EndlessMike Personally, I like Mac more because of the better, more thought-out interface. It's more aesthetically pleasing, also.
I have nothing against Windows (7), though, since I play video games on my PC that I built, and games for Mac aren't very plentiful(plus the devs usually don't optimize for Mac hardware as well as Apple can). It's just that Mac looks and functions better to me.

OS X does support SLI or XFire hardware do you can't take advantage of having multiple GPU's in parallel. Plus the iMac Books are still using 2 generation old hardware (Core 2 Duo) while mobile PC's use the latest C2D and i7 technology. time to get caught up! OSX is great but the hardware is very primitive.

lol your statement is invalid, movie maker is for people who dont know what their doing or for small tasks. Mac comes with iLife, which contains iMovie, which is way better then movie maker. It also comes with programs that PC doesnt have such as garage band (audio). To be honest macs are the best out of the box and come with best software pre-installed. Also the upgrade to snow leopard is only $29

first of all there's loads of video editing software thats way better then what you get on windows because movie maker is for people who cant do anything and imovie which you get on mac is better and more professional also macs look nicer than windows on screen and off, mac has a motion sensor and windows doesn't, mac comes with ilife and i have loads of games on my mac that you can get on windows the only difference is that they are better.

mac is great for editing hd videos i gotta hand it.
but most people dont make videos and if they do, they can get the job done on a pc as good as expected. my pc was just 299 and it had 2 gigs of ram. it is very rare that i see somebody with a mac because a mac is like the name brand. its very expensive but great. a pc is like the store brand. waaay cheap and just as good potentially. you get what im saying here?

It's important to remember that Snow Leopard is not a feature update so much as a core kernel update. The "under the hood changes" are plenty, and they are looking to the future of OSes.
Snow Leopard will scale extremely well with new hardware and upcoming technologies. At a price of $29, it's an absolute steal.

Again, the way the dock works is much worse than 7...when I minimise something in 7, it already minimises on the program's icon and also shows how many windows there and i can switch between then by just moving my pointer on them!

Knowing the date???? Well, if you say so.. Then you just look at the dock where the iCal icon carries the date, or press a key and look at the date in the calendar widget.I don't put it in the menu bar anyway, it would be redundant and, less efficient.

some of the feature u mentioned have been in windows for ages and minimising to the icon, they got that idea from windows 7......and apple says we stole their idea....ne way i like what apple has done....cleaned up, good job on that....

I think Snow Leopard could have been just put in an osx update-charging for it is silly. Im a total Mac fan but a 6 gig disc is overkill for practically no changes.

The OPERATING SYSTEM is what your computer runs on. You can't see the operating system. What you see is the GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE. The OS has been changed to 64 bit, things are slightly faster. The GUI has only been changed slightly.

Huh??? I don't understand your question. Fix your grammar and/or wording and ask me again. That makes no sense. The computer needs to be turned OFF if you are going to upgrade the ram (memory). And just to let you know, memory is completely different from HARD DRIVE space.

Can more ram be added,recognized and used now with Leopard or is it a hardware constraint that will make only a certain amount recognizable. I dont know how much clearer that can be.

did anyone else get MILLIONS of pop ups about installing rossetta in order to blah blah blah after they installed snow leapord? For me it did, its stopped now i installed all the optional things, but man that sucked

I got it once when trying to run Microsoft Office 2004 for OS X. After Rosetta was installed, it didn't come up again.
I'm guessing that Apple is hoping that the majority of Mac users have already upgraded their software to universal or Intel binaries and left Rosetta uninstalled to keep the OS as lean as possible.

i think apple sucks(the company and Steve Jobs in general) but Macs rule! (my opinion) i don't like the approach they're taking and the ads just suck. i mean they just show the features and it doesn't really want to make me go and buy an iPod. if they just let people took at what they have and not advertise it to the world, it would be the same as it is today. i see people everyday with there ipods and I'm sure they even haven't seen the commercial.

there marketing strategy sucks 5%, really? if they sell there OS to PC then it might go higher.
I would go to the Macs side if there company didn't suck. Microsoft is Professional and Apple is more of a hang back kind of company.

Right click on the file and select GET INFO. Go down to "OPEN WITH" and select the app you want it to open with. Then click "CHANGE ALL." You can also just simply right click on the file and choose OPEN WITH... and choose the app you want it to open with. Simple as pie.
