How do you create a new race? I know how to like mke things my way in GSB by editing the files and scripts, so you can just tell me how.

@thepowers100 I don't really mod GSB anymore, (It might be hard to tell here, but I absolutely suck with graphics...these ships were imported from Realspace 3) but there's a REALLY good thread on the GSB mod forums called GSB Modding 101 that basically covers every aspect of modding. Look in that thread to get really good tips.

What weapon did you use that could destroy a cruiser in like 3 shots?

@thepowers100 Well, normally it would kill a ship in one shot (it was the Death Star superlaser in the old Star Wars mod) but I edited the game to HELL here. One of my edits was making the ships have a ridiculous amount of hull integrity and armor. I'm pretty sure the old star wars mod no longer works, but there is a new one called Star Wars: Reloaded! You should try it out, partially because the new "convergent" line you can add to beam lasers makes it WAAAAY more Death Star-like.

@thepowers100 yea, this is a game I bought called Gratuitous Space Battles. I modded it and added sprites (and music) from the game Realspace 3. (which you also have to buy, although in this case I got Realspace 3 for free)

i think you made it like this: You took out all the files from the real space 3 folder, and took out the ones from GSB and then put the RS3 ones in the GSB folder

@ufsantaris555 i had to change the kind of files for the graphics files (realspace 3 files are in .png and this game needs .dds) but that's basically it ^^ (i also messed around with the turrets places, engines, etc.)

THIS should be in the Final Confrontation in the game.

The mission only gave the United Fleet and Katuri 4 large ships each(right?). And they actually called it the main fleet. Lol.

it's in the (old) GSB Star Wars Mod. I had to edit some of the .txt files for it to work, with the new versions of the game. anyway, the laser is the death star superlaser, normally something that you can't use (due to cost reasons) in battle, so I modded it and made it available for all races, changing the required weight, power, crew, etc. to something more desirable.

P.S. The katuri carriers are flipped.

every Katuri ship is flipped. i was too lazy to flip them over because then it would take hours and hours to change EVERY SINGLE SHIP to angle = 90. FOREVER. and, i wanted to make sure the United Fleet won. The humans had enough defeat in the movie Avatar. This time... THE ALIENS WILL BE CRUSHED!

that's right. lost. my copy of GSB was somehow deleted one day when i wanted to play it, and the mod was lost. now i only have the hulls and turret .dds files. not the mission, not the cool flak guns, not the giant lazors... nothing. sorry :(

heh heh. you really should, because there is an endless line of people who have created mods, so the game basically never ends. besides, you can get the files from ANY 2-D game and add it to this game. someone is even working on a naval battle mod! :O

well, technically no... i was too lazy to make a new race, and the idea for one came up when i was done with half the ships. o_O anyway, i just put all the ships in the Federation. (Races include Alliance, Empire, Rebels, Federation, and, if you have the new expansion pack, the Tribe)

sure... but note, they are TOTALLY unbalanced, unfair, and will kill anything. oh, and a short note, you will be unable to play multiplayer challenges, seeing as cliff installed a new feature that removes crashes in some challenges, but if you have something that no one else has, you will not be able to play that challenge. *sigh* it wasn't always this way...

oh wait nevermind. the challenge thing isn't caused by this. it's just some stupid bug due to the tribe race not being ticked, and will be fixed in the next patch (1.27) :D

BTW it's a really good idea to get the tribe, the kinetic weapons kick ass, and they look awesome with their firing effect. too bad i couldn't include them in this vid. :(
