It's my understanding, and firm belief, that nothing, no other flag or banner, shall ever fly above our nation's colors. Needless to say I took many an ass chewing for not wearing any of my combat patches
The reason for wearing the Flag in that direction is that a soldier is always moving forward, never retreating, thus that's the direction the Flag would be flying, with the Union facing forward, why they don't just wear the Flag on the left sleeve is beyond me.
