We draw from our West African heritage, which involves stomping, shaking, and the like. Unfortunately, this style is frowned upon by those who cannot identify with our culture and heritage. So you definitely see the influence of stepping in this type of cheering.

love it, i went to a mostly white high school, but to college at a hbcu...i cheered at both. I will say this,if they used a traditional cheerleading coach as a judge, i know why cheer phi didnt get picked...transition to mounts, cant understand what they are saying, their builds are very basic, no flying,hardly any tumbling, looked more like dancing and stepping. (look up marple newtown high school cheeleaders)this is what were taught from like 5yrs old,its wut they wanted! still keep it up!:-)

I have to disagree...nca and uca cheerleaders very much still can lead on their school and crowd and stand on the sidelines just as much as these ladies do. that's why that comes first but they also compete...i don't see whats wrong with that? If you can lead on your school and still compete their is no problem...cause i know we do...but also make it as a top competitor for nationals.

My point is that the NCA and UCA methods are not fullproof for every crowd. Im glad your crowd likes the traditional stuff. Thats fine and great. But if its not working at your school. Dont keep doing it year after year, time and time again. Make up something new and fresh. Color outside the box.

And on your sideline NCA and UCA are more of suggestions not rules. Competitions yes its rules then.

Nice Video!! but, your 8 counts need allot of work. Try looking at some of the 8 counts from the World Renowed VSU Woo-Woo's. Everybody, else does so it won't hurt you all either. Also, ask some of the girls to really workout on their STOMACHS!!!! nothing, worse than seeing extra fat hanging over a uniform. I am a firm believer that a standard size for a cheerleader shouldn't exceed a size (8). Trust me look at the VSU Woo-Woo's (It works)

I wish you would find a hobby besides advising other unique and talented squads to look at and mimic the woos woos who by the way are OVERRATED. Then you commment on other videos and complain about people stealing their moves. I have seen plenty of WOO WOO videos and they aren't anything to copy. They are unique but kind of have one of the most sloppy and uncordinated styles I've seen. Their chants are also childish. Point blank the WOOSWOOS are no more than any other squad!
