3:14-3:15 The defending champion Houston Rockets, they weren't supposed to be here...
no one expected them to make it in the first place!
In the course of the playoffs, everyone was expecting various possible matchups but without the Rockets in the mix... Jazz-Magic; Suns-Knicks; Spurs-Magic; Spurs-Pacers; Suns-Magic; even Suns-Bulls part 2 or Spurs-Bulls
SMH@000000MJ2345000000 .....The only boring part was watching MJ changing jerseys and still getting ousted by the same team Houston swept on the road. :)
@000000MJ2345000000 Boring championship? I dont see and have never seen the Bulls with MJ win at 6th seed. They lost to Orlando at #5 in 1995. Yeah the Bulls have 6 titles but just like typical Spurs fan you have to admit that they cant win when they are seeded lower then 2.
lol wtb this year? bulls and the spurs were #1 seeds. spurs out in the first round, bulls out in eastern finals. u make a good point but if mj were still on the bulls during 94 and 95, i think bulls woulda won but michael jordan failed to beat hakeem's rockets throughout his career. so i dont know
@xXhtownrocketsxX what do you mean mj failed to beat hakeem's rockets? are you retarded? maybe you meant mark jackson. lol. Note: in 1993-94 Bulls owned Houston 2-1 in the season series; that is, without MJ. in 1994-95.
Nick the Brick Anderson deserves a ring for his role in Houston winning the 95 title. If he makes just 1 of those 4 free throws things could have turned out much differently. At the same time the Rockets came back to win the first 2 round after losing game 1, maybe falling behind 1-0 would have made no difference in the end.
Jordan is so over rated, the only reason the Bulls won the championship is that they never played the ROCKETS. The Bulls used to get there ass kicked whenever they played the Rockets. Jordan had to have super stars around him to win Hakeem was the only one
@alhalies So true and Jordan always had trouble with maxwell. I think maxwell was the only if not one of the few ones that could really guard well against Jordan.
I was hoping the Rockets would have beaten the Lakers and maybe we would be champs now. Oh well.
I hope these bad ass playoffs days and championships come back to Houston soon.
Is it the Bulls fault that the Rockets couldn't get to the finals from 96-99. I don't think so. Blame Seattle for the 96-97 season and blame Utah for the 97-98 season and the 98-99 season.
Plus you sitting here looking at this and knowing that Clyde Drexler is playing. Clyde is one of the greatest shooting guards to ever play the game and you saying that the Hakeem did it by himself. Then after this season they went and got Barkley. So they had three hall of fame players and still couldn't win from 96-99. Then they picked up Pippen in the 99-00 season and still had three hall of fame players and couldn't win.
@alhalies Jordan was always like the only who could win by himself,Hakeem was good but he usually or almost never did the last shot.Hakeem was not the scorer of the year he was a great defender but not a great scorer.A team with superstars is like at the present Boston with Garnett,Pierce,Allen or Orlando with Carter,Howard,Lewis.
Chicago had Jordan and Pippen what other superstar??? i think that the Phoenix suns team of 1992-1993 season was better than HOuston team 1993-1994 and 1994-1995
96-98 bulls 3 peat could be attributed to the trade of dennis rodman. as great as mj was during those years, without his hairness, theres no repeat 3peat. its a fact. rodman made mj and scottie looked good.
wtf??? who forced mj to quit basketball in the first place? its himself. so dont make it appear that hes been out for almost 2 years playing a game for homos (baseball) and when he came back, he got his ass kicked by an up and coming magic led by a young shaq and hardaway. if he is that good as you made it appear, at least the bulls with the refs on their side could give the magic a good fight. but no. its a mismatch all the way. they couldnt stop shaq. how much more the dream.
Yeah thats what happened the first year he came back. But what happened the next year. When Jordan had a chance to play a whole season. The Bulls met up with the Magic in the eastern conference finals and swept the Magic. And Dennis Rodman put the clamp down on Shaq. So don't judge it when Jordan only played not even a half of a season.
i think if jordan didnt retire bulls would have won 8 in a row but you cant take any thing away from the rockets they beat all the best teams that year and hakeem was amazing in the playoffs in 95
jordan was off 2 years playing baseball he was rusty as hell he might have played with them in practice couple of times but you know that actuall game and practice is totally different but im not taking away anything from the rockets in 94 and 95 they were a very special team
Rusty as hell? 30ppg - 47% FG in 95 when he lost, 28ppg 52% FG when he won in 96....Hardly any difference. And besides the Rockets went through a hell lot more than MJ's so called rust, with suspension, trade, injury, no homecourt.
yea there is he made more shots lol he didnt miss easy shots like he did in 95 he had to learn the offense over again. im not taking anything away from the rockets. but if the rockets were so good how come they didnt get to the finals in 96 97 98 i want to hear your excuse
im not bashing the rockets im not your typical basketball fan i appreciate good basketball and your rockets got screwed by bad calls against the lakers
shanto710...in 96....we didn't upgrade our team and sign a PF to deal with Kemp/Malone/Chuck. Seattle was a overall better team than us, more athletic and better at more spots on the floor than HOU. 97 Matt Maloney got killed vs. Stockton, and he was a CBA rookie. Then Chuck was a damned cancer. Dream dominated that series, 26ppg, not his fault we lost. 98 Dream only played 1/2 the season with injuries, after 98-99 season he shoulda packed it in, imo.
lol jordan was out of bball for 1 and half years 94 and 95 was charity for the rest of the league so dont worry enjoy your back to back titles and i will enjoy jordans 6
Lol@ 95 was "charity" for the league? I guess we should pretend that Orlando whupping Chicago with MJ never happened huh?
Jordan wouldn't have no 6 titles with the calibre of teammates Hakeem had in his prime. He would have 0 rings with Dreams 94 or 95 title teams. Not to worry, Hakeem is proud enough having put forth the greatest individual playoff performance in NBA history in 95.
your fucking retarded seriously the magic did not whoop the bulls. what the fuck do you call drexler hes top 50 player of all time. you want to talk about the greatest team in nba history 1996 chicago bulls untouchabulls
You're here on a Houston Rocket thread boasting about the Bulls' achievments and then you turn around and say you have "respect" for Houston,LOL. Ok I can clearly see you're a Jordan Jocker trying to sell his agenda.
Learn to read, I said greatest individual playoff performance I didn't say Hakeem did it alone in 95. 96 Bulls GOAT team? LOL. Yeah when they added crap teams like the Raptors/Grizzlies to further dilute the league. The 2peat Lakers were better than the 96 Bulls imo.
People keep saying that bullshit about the Rockets sweeping the /Bulls. The very next season when Jordan got a chance to get in basket ball shape what did they do to the Magic. They swept that ass. Plus they beat them by 20 point or better each game.
Yeah please add that they had Rodman in 96 playoffs ad they didn't have him in '95 when Grant/Shaq dominated Chicago. And Grant was injured in the '96 series.
MJ was so "in shape" that he shot a bricklaying 41% in the 96 Finals....thank goodness Rodman was there to grab all his misses.
@masonvega114: He wasn't... 100% basketball-ready... I guess...
Was he full-time back in '95, I believe Houston vs Chicago would be an EPIC series!!! I believe Chicago would have won in 7 (or maybe Houston could win in 7, since Chicago didn't have Rodman in '95), but it would be the Bulls' toughest championship!!!
Thats what I liked from the players from the 90's they never make excuses Robinson admit he got dominated. Players from now are cry babys alwyas looking for excuses.
they rigged it? how so? there wasnt any investigation of refs rigging anything? so saying fact is false and just you conspiricizing. also how would they have swept orlando? the magic were the better team that year. saying what WOULD HAVE happened is easy to do, you cant erase what DID happen no matter how much you bitch and complain about it.
also, mike missed 2 freethrows in the last 2 minutes and shot HORRIBLY all day, 36%. so why dont you blame him for him choking in game 1 when he shouldnt have.
that whole gambling thing is all a conspiracy. nothing has been proven.
even at that michael wore the 45 for his 17 games in the regular season and still averaged 27, 7, 5 and a steal.
he shot poorly that game, GOT STRIPPED from behind, there was no foul, watch the footage, nick didnt even trip him, jordan hesitated in the air and tripped over himself.
he changed back to 23 after that and averaged 31 ppg and shot 46% for the series. if thats not typical jordan numbers idk what is.
It's not a conspiracy. Jordan during the 1993 ECF finals on the morning of game 5 was seen out gambling all night in atlantic city. His gambling problem became chronic. Stern intended on suspending him 2 years but let him come back late due to decreasing ratings with the league.
e put up decent numbers but he was shooting 41% on the season and only ha d that great game vs the knicks with 55.
He put up ok numbers vs orlando but they stole grant from us, plus we didn't have dennis yet.. Fluke
If the word got out on jordans chronic gambling addiction it would of put the league and stern in shambles. Their best player possibly gambling on his team and other teams. The league would of never been the same again. So Stern suspended for a year and a half to let the story die down. It's been proven by facts that ray charles can see (r.i.p.
Horace left because he was a coward he abandoned us when we needed him the most.
Funny how the MJ fanboys say Houston is lucky to have "avoided" the Bulls. You put Hakeem in NYC in Patricks place and they'd have beaten the Bulls in the playoffs. Believe that.
Bullshit. After the 1990 series loss to the Pistons, nobody could beat the Bulls in the playoffs. I don't care if you had Patrick and Hakeem on the same team, nobody, NOBODY, beats MJ in the playoffs. PERIOD!!!
Come on. MJ had been out of the game for nearly two years at that point. Look at what happened in 1996. MJ's Bulls SWEPT the Magic. You're going to tell me you can compare the 1995 MJ to the 1996 MJ??? You're the one who's sleeping.
U mean the "96" MJ that shot a lousy 41% FG in the Finals? I thought this was what you MJ fans call better.
CHI had Rodman in 96 and Grant who killed CHI in 95 was injured in the "sweep" series. Big difference.
Hou overcame a season ending injury to their starting PF, Dream missed 10 games, Max banned, a midseason trade, a CBA guy signed on a 10day contract and no homecourt advantage.
And you're here telling me about MJ averaging his career numbers vs. Orl bein out of shape?
I didn't say he was out of shape. That's what you keep saying. I'm saying that he was away from the game for nearly two years. I don't know if you even play basketball, but when I'm away from court for two days, my shot gets off a little bit and my timing is off. Just think, he was away from basketball for 2 YEARS. Come on, you can't tell me he was the same player as in 1996. Physically, yes, but mentally, no.
The Spurs clearly had the best team that season, but they were mostly untested in the Playoffs as a unit. While the team did terrifically in reclaiming home court in the West Semis for game 5 by winning 2 straight games in Houston, they simply couldn't handle Hakeem. Rodman was AWOL for most of the playoffs and no one man ever could have stopped Hakeem in the zone he was.
people dont remember that was a pretty deep spurs team too, i thought we had it that year, and then when we got wilkins i thought for sure we had it but robinson went down
I was hoping the young and supremely talented Magic would win the world title that year, but the Rockets showed alot of heart..ya gotta respect that..they earned their repeat, that's for damn sure..

Use your head man.
Stern had to suspend michael to calm the gambling allegations. It would of cooked the league.
Don't be mad at me because the magic have 0 legit playoff series wins against the bulls
jplaya2023 2 years ago
im not mad, i really dont care about the bulls nor the magic.
i've been a rockets fan since i picked up a basketball when i was 3 back in 89, i really do not care.
jamesanderson26 2 years ago
oh your a rocket fan you should be happy stern suspended jordan or else houston has 0 titles.
Be blessed
jplaya2023 2 years ago
haha, yeah, say all you want, olajuwons rockets were the only team jordans bulls had a losing record to his entire career.
jamesanderson26 2 years ago
they also choked in the playoffs because they were scared to face the bulls
jplaya2023 2 years ago
haha, yeah they were scared. mmhm.
jamesanderson26 2 years ago
Lol.....Hakeem owns the Bulls in his career.
FuShengAlex 2 years ago
Funny how the MJ fanboys say Houston is lucky to have "avoided" the Bulls. You put Hakeem in NYC in Patricks place and they'd have beaten the Bulls in the playoffs. Believe that.
FuShengAlex 2 years ago
haha yeah they would have.
jamesanderson26 2 years ago
This has been flagged as spam show
yeah they would have.
jamesanderson26 2 years ago
Bullshit. After the 1990 series loss to the Pistons, nobody could beat the Bulls in the playoffs. I don't care if you had Patrick and Hakeem on the same team, nobody, NOBODY, beats MJ in the playoffs. PERIOD!!!
lakergreat80 2 years ago
"Bullshit. After the 1990 series loss to the Pistons, nobody could beat the Bulls in the playoffs"
Nobody like Shaq and Orlando in 1995? Maybe you slept through this series, lol. ........*awaits the MJ was tired excuse*.
FuShengAlex 2 years ago
Come on. MJ had been out of the game for nearly two years at that point. Look at what happened in 1996. MJ's Bulls SWEPT the Magic. You're going to tell me you can compare the 1995 MJ to the 1996 MJ??? You're the one who's sleeping.
lakergreat80 2 years ago
U mean the "96" MJ that shot a lousy 41% FG in the Finals? I thought this was what you MJ fans call better.
CHI had Rodman in 96 and Grant who killed CHI in 95 was injured in the "sweep" series. Big difference.
Hou overcame a season ending injury to their starting PF, Dream missed 10 games, Max banned, a midseason trade, a CBA guy signed on a 10day contract and no homecourt advantage.
And you're here telling me about MJ averaging his career numbers vs. Orl bein out of shape?
FuShengAlex 2 years ago
I didn't say he was out of shape. That's what you keep saying. I'm saying that he was away from the game for nearly two years. I don't know if you even play basketball, but when I'm away from court for two days, my shot gets off a little bit and my timing is off. Just think, he was away from basketball for 2 YEARS. Come on, you can't tell me he was the same player as in 1996. Physically, yes, but mentally, no.
lakergreat80 2 years ago
Yeah a guy that averages 31.5ppg, 48% FG. 7 rebs, and 5 asts is "off". These are just about his career postseason averages.
He just had a better team and didn't have to carry as big a load in 95/96 compared to 94/95.

i bet robinson regrets getting that trophy, the way he got scholled by a REAL MVP!

He was never the same after that moment...that's the sad part

The Spurs clearly had the best team that season, but they were mostly untested in the Playoffs as a unit. While the team did terrifically in reclaiming home court in the West Semis for game 5 by winning 2 straight games in Houston, they simply couldn't handle Hakeem. Rodman was AWOL for most of the playoffs and no one man ever could have stopped Hakeem in the zone he was.
hok2806 3 years ago 3
people dont remember that was a pretty deep spurs team too, i thought we had it that year, and then when we got wilkins i thought for sure we had it but robinson went down
mozisgod1 3 years ago 3
and about half that team was still there when they won in '99.

What Hakeem thought David was a lesson in MVP Basketball-you have the title then play like you possess it.

I mean taught...Sorry for my grammar.
kabukiboy23 3 years ago
I was hoping the young and supremely talented Magic would win the world title that year, but the Rockets showed alot of heart..ya gotta respect that..they earned their repeat, that's for damn sure..
LuigiLaker 4 years ago 3
The Rockets put on the most gangster playoff run ever in 95'.
