  • Tomcat.. super fast jet.

  • where is the F-14 Jerrymouse?

  • F-14 Tomcat, seen em ,been there and done that! Still the baddest ass machine ever flown!!!

  • Look at her. She's gorgeous...

  • Put that in your pipe and smoke it. FIRE IN THE HOLE!!!

  • hmmm how long can these fly on average

  • @flamingarse1 a lot longer then the F-18 that replaced it

  • @TomPetersonXc well yae but how long i heard that f14 are especially large jets

  • Comment removed

  • @flamingarse1 1,500-600 Nautical Miles. Not sure if that's with Fuel Tanks or not. Got to think if they get to a good altitude, maintain average throttle/power that would make things better. In the video "Tomcats last cruse" or something similar, the Tomcats flew for 8 hours only being air refueled 2 times.

  • F-14 and F-15 undefeated or atleast until the F-15C start's shooting Iranian F-14s down

  • @1bearcatf8f

the f15's will be burning wreckage long before they would ever have a f14 on radar

CATS Rule and the phoenix is a missile on god mode

VF-211, cried when they took our birds away to scrap :(

  • F-15 Bitches

    UNFUCKINGDEFEATED!

  • Cats RULE, baby!

  • GREAT BALLS OF FIRE!!! I HAVE THE NEED... THE NEED FOR SPEED!!! \m/,

  • Hearing one arm of the U.S. military disrespect another arm out of misplaced pride is a sad thing.

  • Those aren't flames coming out of the F-14's thrusters, that's condensed America. :)

  • Great balls of fire!

  • long live tomcat.

  • why didnt the raf buy these instead of eurofighter?

  • Which is more respectable, the fact that the aviator has to land on a postage stamp or that he has to manage a bunch of sailors in his department too?

  • it cant be download i dont know why

  • Daaaammmmmnnn youuuuu Maverick!!!!

  • Thats a gas burning machine!

  • @spectre04 It is the afterburner..

  • ANYTIME BABY!

  • The Sound of Freedom

  • bag of shit dude

  • @ 1:03 WHOA, calm down dude...

  • to all you airforce guys you seem to forget the tomcat can carry 6 phoenix missiles and lock onto target 150 miles away then fire once there in 100 mile range. can the raptor beat that?

  • @shittylitty I am retired air force but I fucking love the F-14!

  • you gotta love those massive burners and that sound.

  • one of the best aircraft ever made by the US...still the no.1 in the world....

  • @bigalow13 clearly not

  • @bigalow13 hahaha it's not the no.1 but it still a legendary aircraft and it's awesome :)

  • If I ever saw aomething that cool in real life I would likely soil myself.

  • @falconeaterf15

Id be right there with you in a mess.

  • HOLY SHIT =O ... AWESOME =D

  • NAVY RULES - PERIOD. What pisses me off all the time is these morons who think that anything in the air is Air Force, DUMB ASSESS.

Look at the Facts. Navy was first in SPACE (Shepard), first to Orbit (Glenn - yes I know Marines, still a Sailor), first on the Moon (Armstrong). Vietnam - first Ace, Air Force you loose.

I worked on the F14A and we had the TF30, what a piece, TF34 from GE was great and I know the F100 was excellent.

Nothing is better. BIG BAD AND HONKING - F14 TOMCAT.

  • @bobbycv64 What pisses me off is people talking shit on the other branches, they all protect us. They are all part of the U.S. Military!

  • @bobbycv64 Navy doesnt rule ! AF ALL THE WAY LIVE, BREATH, BLEED BLUE !!...F-14 was an amazing aircraft to say the least but now... Navy has nothing to even compare to the AF... A superhornet is the closest thing that would come close... Yes you folks may have had those few first because you folks also did the pick-ups so why not have navy pick up sailors? RAPTOR IS SUPERIOR TO TOMCAT

  • @bobbycv64 Navy doesnt rule ! AF ALL THE WAY LIVE, BREATH, BLEED BLUE !!...F-14 was an amazing aircraft to say the least but now... Navy has nothing to even compare to the AF... • @bobbycv64 I'm an Air Force guy but I prefer the F-14 Tomcat over anything else on this planet. The F-14 is a TRUE fighter....and the F/A-18E/F is shit. F-14A's were beautiful aircraft, I miss them. Also, you shouldn't shit talk about other branches. We all have the same objective.

  • @bobbycv64 One common denominator is that the UNITED STATES is the leader in Space and Aviation technology.I do respect your Navy background. The baddest Navy in the WORLD.

  • @bobbycv64 The branches rely on each other for different things, don't assume the Navy is the best either.

  • @bobbycv64 Anyone can land on a runway that sits still. REAL MEN land on ships!!!! I was Marine Corps airwing but our pilots are still Naval Aviators, and we were on the carrier with the Navy. Let the Air Force fly their KC-135s and C-17s!!! That is what they do best. TRANSPORT!!!!! The Tomcats that were with us were with VF-32, and had "B+" upgrades so they had the F100GE400s in them. Alot more power than TF30s and TF34s. We had Hornets. Never mind the CHAIR FORCE!!!!!

  • @ironcitydevildog CHAIR FORCE, LOL FUNNY BECAUSE ITS TRUE. LOL

  • @bobbycv64 As an Air Force Aviator, what the Navy does is pretty awesome, however, I will take my hotels and comfy living while still doing the mission and you guys can keep your ships, nothing personal, just not for me. Besides, you guys seem to have a complex if you have to look up facts and post them all over the internet about how much the Navy is the greatest.

  • @bobbycv64 It's funny I live in the state where Shepard was born :)

  • @bobbycv64 yeah whyd they get rid of the tomcat.. was it maintenance spenditure? cuz i know they were the most expensive fighter of their time and really expensive to maintain

  • @bobbycv64 F100 indeed made for a big bad and honkin CAT! I was among the very last VF-143 Airframers and may I tell you the tale of one bad ass F-14B her name was 111 thats right..triple stix..she survived AAA over Baghdad and SAMs...she also bore my name cuz I was her PC..this story is losing focus just thought you would like lol.

  • @swillmaster1 the F-100 was the original engines in the F-15 and F-16, to my knowledge, the navy never had an airframe that ever used the F-100 engine.

  • @bobbycv64 F110 actually..sorry got all warpped up in yer f100 shit

  • @bobbycv64 you are right about most of these facts, but the tomcat only ever had 2 different engines, the first was the pratt and whitney tf-30 and yes it did have its problems, but those problems were taken care of very well with the GE f-110 engines. never heard of the tf-34 though.

  • sweet, only, i've never found such an afterburner effect for fsx :/

  • Oh so sexy. Everytime I watch this I get chills cause of its awesomeness.

  • The F-35c is likely to not enter service considering the Pentagon's budget cuts and besides the F-35c was not designed to replace the Tomcat but to replace the aging F/A-18c Hornet. The F/A-18e Super Hornet, which WAS designed to replace the F-14, is based on the F/A-18c Hornet.

    VIVA LA TOMCAT!!!!!

  • The F-14 A+ B and D models have the GE FW100 engines in them putting out more thrust than the F-15 and gets better gas mileage then the TF-30's that powered the A model. They were far from obsolete but the maintainence hours per flight hour was killer and cost saving was what did the Tomcats in.

  • "...and then The Tomcat ascended in to Heaven, body and soul..."

  • fucking badass!heard someone scream top fuel towards the end totally relevant, miss the f-14.

  • @Get1337 The F-14 was the fastest fighter aircraft in the US armed forces arsenal, however it was outgunned and out maunevered by the F/A-18, plus it eats gas like crazy.

  • @RainbowManification The F-15 was significantly faster than the F-14 at altitude, in climb and on the deck.

  • @Get1337

Obsolet??? Dude you need some fucking education the F-14 D was the primary naval interceptor for over 20 years. It beats out the F-18 superhornet in power, range, fire power, and altitude capabilites. Long Live VF-33

  • @Get1337 FUCK YOU!

  • f-14 retired!!!!!!!!!!

  • Can somebody tell me why they needed to retire the F14?

i have read reports that the f14's maintainance was too costly. but what the fuck? if thats one of the reasons of the retire then the F22 raptor is definitely not gona LAST for the next 10 years dontcha think guys? this is really disappointing. Its been 36 years. the AV8B harrier II has not even been phased out yet. I hope they are making developments of a better F14. damn it.............

  • " GREAT BALLS OF FIRE!!!!!!!!!!! " :D

  • fantastic! love it

  • Thats crazy the skie just swallowed it. Tomcats forever.

  • The F14 was designed from the ground up around the extremely long range AIM-54 Phoenix Missile System. The USN primary threat 40 years ago was long-range Russian bombers and sea skimming cruise missiles, but it could also engage high-flying Mach 3 foxbats as well. Not bad for USN fighter developed in the late 1960’s. Even today, unless you’re flying around in a Stealth airplane, I wouldn’t want to go head to head with it. (F14… Anytime Baby)

  • How beautiful! I grew up here (born in Norfolk while in Ben Morell Housing which was Enlisted mens' housing) on Hampton Blvd. in 1957. I attend every Air Show! And i never saw a craft that beat out our Super-Toms, for me. Am headed today to the 2010 Air Show in just a few minutes now. :)

  • You Know...

Yes, the Super Hornet was forced on the Navy... Just like the F-35 is being forced on everyone else. The only difference? The Super Hornet is a good investment.

Super Hornets and Tomcats are all the Navy needs. To bad the D.O.D. made the WRONG decision... AGAIN!

  • @131stfwFAN Hi. Just to clear things out. It's just like your saying that America is forcing the F-35 to Britain, Spain, and those other countries. The F-35 wasn't actually forced to the Navy, but the US Navy chose it to replace the C model Hornets so it could equal up to the Super Hornets with the longer range and payload. =) Have a nice day ...

  • @131stfwFAN Oh, and I'm not saying I like the F-35. I don't. I'm just stating the truth :)...

  • The most impressive planes ever to me are long range fast interceptors. The age has come and gone since the cold war. This plane was made for a similar role and probably one of the last of its kind. This plane was also a great dogfighter which is rare these days. Some planes around the cold war went between mach 3 to over mach 4. That my friends we will never see again.

  • 7 dislikes ???

    gtfo!!!!

  • We could've saved more money on upgrading the Tomcats and putting it through overhaul rather than spending way more on a plane that is inferior to the Tomcat. The Super Hornet will NEVER had the sheer power, speed, range, and long range missile platforms like how the Tomcat did. DoD complains about spending too much money on the military? The first step to save money would've been to upgrade Tomcats and save money rather than wasting on new less capable projects.

  • @xTomcatsForeverVF84x Should the F-14 still be in service, then it would still be way too high maintenance, which can hinder the readiness of the navy. Besides, the Super Hornet is a good enough plane, not that I'm a fan of it (I prefer legacy hornets). Besides if youre looking for a joke of a plane, look at the F-35. 323 Billion dollars spent on this plane. Now that is a waste of money

  • @Kablammer4 Well the maintenance cost part is true, but if the F-14 went through a major extension program with complete overhaul and all that, then the F-14's would still be great fighters and this problem probably wouldn't be as big. Actually right now, the U.S. Navy is facing a shortfall of fighters at this moment. If the Tomcats were still here this wouldn't be happening to the Navy. Dick Cheney is the biggest idiot EVER

  • @xTomcatsForeverVF84x The Super Hornet can get the job done. It already proved itself against the Iraqis. If I were the Secretary of Defense, then I would have kept the Tomcats and Hornets (Or in this case, the Super Hornets) and not waste time on the F-35. The F-35 is a waste of money. 323 Billion Dollars on a plane that hasnt proved itself yet. That is rediculous If the F-35 fails. our Air force, Navy, and Marine Corps will crumble.

  • @xTomcatsForeverVF84x Dick Cheney? dude. he was the VP, VP's don't do jack shit lol.

  • @Dogmeat1 he was former DoD. He played a big part in destroying the tomcat. He's one of the biggest idiots on earth. He had no idea of the Navys needs and what the pilots wanted. The SH was basically shoved down the Navys throat because of his stupid actions

  • @xTomcatsForeverVF84x Well. I don't think the Navy cares what's given to them. So I stayed at NAS Fallon for 2 weeks because my dad's Air Wing was training for deployment. And it is full of F/A-18 Super Hornets, E-2C's, and EA-6B's. They were training against the aggressors. You know, the one's with F-16's, F-5's, that stuff :). Yeah. So CVW 14 has has beaten the agressors 95% of the time. I'm not allowed to tell you the score though. So the Navy is fine without the F-14. :D

  • I spent many years working on the F14 Tomcat. It had some pretty impressive capabilities too. For example, its top speed exceeds the F22 Raptor and it carried the only true long-range air-to-air missiles (range > 100 nautical miles). The GE F110 engines produced 46,300 lbs of thrust and it could actually cruise at supersonic speed without using afterburners. I know the F18’s cant do that and I’m pretty sure the F15’s and F16’s cant either. The F14D Tomcat was an impressive Navy fighter...

  • @AviatorGuy yes you are right sort of, even with the F110 engines we still had to use a little bit of afterburner to get supersonic but once we got past mach 1.4 (depending on aircraft loading) we could close down the burners and supercruise

  • I remember being here seeing the last Tomcat fly over my beach :( Now here in Virginia Beach we get stupid FA/18 Hornets that do the beach blast....

  • The Tomcat is Italian designed has a wonderful elagance when it's flying and will always be a topgun in my eyes.

  • The F-14 was one of the most beautiful jets ever to fly - much better than ANY model of the Hornet. The only reason the F-14 was replaced (in a rather sham way, imo) was cost. The Pentagon would rather save 3 million on an inferior plane rather than go for air superiority. The day I found out the Tomcat was retiring, I cried, because my boy-hood dream to fly one of those magnificent birds, I knew, was over. Tragedy, I know, but I wished nothing more when I was younger. Beautiful jet!

  • @AngusGibsonT F-14 is a piece of shit. All it could do was blow up mid air. LOL

  • @Tomcatsux4ever you need to get some facts right dude, one single flight, one of the engines came apart in flight, don't you think you are putting the blame in the wrong place, the tomcat did not blow up the engine did, why don't you start blaming GE, they are the ones who built the engine, but it is amazing that out of over a million flights that tomcats made over its 30+ year career, one engine blows up and you think it is proof of the plane being a piece of shit, thats almost laughable.

  • @TheScrumpty How about you shut up. The reason why I ever started the profile is because or morons like you, being biased about one plane and don't know what they hell they are talking about. You bash on the hornet thinking it's a bad plane. Well let me tell you something. The F/A-18 is a great plane. It has flown over more than 6,000 missions, accumulated over 7 million flight hours and has served the US well. If you don't like it, then get the hell out of our country.

  • @Tomcatsux4ever hey jerkweed i not one time ever said the hornet is a bad plane, it is a reliable and good utility plane, that performs the light precision strike mission adequately, it also fights adequately in the air to air role, if you look back at my posts you will find that i never have said the hornet is a bad or horrible plane, it does do a lot of missions adequately, but it does none of them excellently, it cant fight as well as the tomcat could, it cant bomb as well as the intruder did

  • @Tomcatsux4ever i seem to recall posting several times that the U.S. navy needs the F/A-18 and we need to allow the progression of the tomcat program as well, the hornet can not defend the fleet as well as the tomcat could, that is a fact, getting the hornet to replace 4 aircraft is not only a bad idea, but it cant do it. as far as me getting out of our country, get real i have fought for this country i am going nowhere, i never said the hornet is a bad plane, stop making up things that i said.

  • @TheScrumpty If I can remember, I saw your comments in another video saying that the F/A-18 is a compromise, as well as being a highly flawed design. You're a liar. Here's another thing. I was going to delete this account and show respect to the F-14, until you showed up with the comments. I will gladly respect the F-14 if you would stop making ridiculous claims about any plane.

  • @Tomcatsux4ever finally you properly quoted me, yes i did say the f-18 was a compromise, and i also said that the f-18 was mandated, because it was on both counts, had the f-17 been built as it was designed, it would have been an extremely formidable SHORT RANGE air superiority fighter as it was intended, but a lot of compromises were made to the design to make it carrier able, which it was never intended, and about 13,000 pounds of extra weight was added to it to make it carrier able

  • @Tomcatsux4ever but no increase in engine thrust put it well below it intended t-w ratio, and severly cut into it fuel economy which has led to it's constant need for air to air refueling, and turned it into a good all purpose plane that i think the navy needs, but it is in no way able to completely take over the roles that it has been mandated to do, by politicians, it can do most jobs with adequacy, but none of them exceptionally, such as air superiority, or medium bombing

  • @Tomcatsux4ever thats why i said that it was a bad idea for it to assume so much of the fleets burden, does the navy need the F/A-18? absolutely, does the navy still need the F-14? absolutely, does the navy still need the A-6? well no, it would be nice if it still had it but it does not need it, i believe that the F-14's desigh needed to be allowed to go forward as intended, and WE the taxpayers had already paid for the next 2 planned upgrades, and now all that money of OURS was thrown away.

  • @Tomcatsux4ever i dont remember saying the F-18's design was highly flawed, but i do remember saying that because of the way in which it was converted from a land based uncompromising air superiority fighter to a carrier based light strike fighter where a lot of compromises had to be made was fundamentally flawed, and i also recall stating that using the F-18 to replace the last of the navy's phantoms and all of the navy's A-7's was a proper fit for it.

  • @Tomcatsux4ever but replacing the remaining F-4's, all of the A-7's, all of the A-6's and all of the F-14's is an absolutely horrible idea, that decision is highly flawed as it took away from the navy the ability to put medium bomb loads onto a target by only using one aircraft, and the ability for the navy to protect our battle groups as well as they should be defended, the F-18 is a very good all around plane but it can not do it all, there is not one single plane anywhere that can,

  • @TheScrumpty All those airframes needed replacement, but I have to agree, one airframe can't do it all. I agree both F/A-18s do have their limitations and that more aircraft can be used, but it's still a good plane. Okay, this argument is over. Truce.

  • @Tomcatsux4ever well i never said the F/A-18 was not a good airplane, i don't agree with you on the tomcat airframe needed to be replaced, i do agree that it needed to be upgraded actually it was way overdue for it's upgrade, i am not entirely sure the A-6 needed to be replaced either, but i do agree with you that the A-7 and last of the F-4's needed to be replaced, and i will agree with you on the truce

  • Comment removed

  • @Tomcatsux4ever let me state it like this, as good as the F-22 is, it is a land based air dominance fighter, and without question the most dominate and lethal fighter plane ever conceived, but if we were to ask lockheed to make another version of it capable of operating from an aircraft carrier, so many compromises in its design would have to be made, that it would not be the nearly as good as the F-22 is now, think about that when you think about YF-17 and F-18, same thing, different airframes.

  • @Tomcatsux4ever so before you start bashing me for something you claim i said why don't you make sure what i said and you understand what i said, and maybe learn a little about what you are talking about before chiming in on something you know very little about

  • @AngusGibsonT Tell me why the Super Hornet is inferior. Give me an answer besides range, and speed.

  • "Tomcatsux4ever" is a feculent piece of slime that works for boeing, trolling around F-14 videos trying to convince everyone that the tomcat is not as good as the super lemon, with its stupid fucking useless huge LEXs and tiny underpowered engines that need refueling every five minutes. He is a bitch of the republacrats who can't make good defense decisions. And rather sellout our fine aviators with the "feeling" that a the super lemon is good. They knew better.

  • @biped1 I do not care about the Super Hornet. Im not saying its better than the F-14, I know it is better than the F-14. LOL. Tomcat is a useless piece of shit Thats why it got shredded like the piece of shit it is. LOL

  • @Tomcatsux4ever what exactly is wrong with the F-14? I'd like to know.

  • @Tomcatsux4ever yeah, you do care, which is why you're so damn defensive about people saying the tomcat is better. stop being a little vagina.

  • @okisoba No, I just hate the plane in general. It's an ugly looking piece of shit. LOL

  • @Tomcatsux4ever Your entitled to that, a lot of planes are ugly. But I know you care, you wouldn't be so obsessive in your trolling otherwise.

  • @okisoba Tomcatsux4ever is just another immature idiot. He goes around youtube and types the same shit over and over again. He does care because he checks out almost every F-14 video

  • The best part of the F-14 is when they got shredded like the piece of shit they are

  • Comment removed

  • Gotta love the afterburners

  • I like Zone 5 !!!!!!!!!!

  • Fuck Chenney for canceling the Ds..and for...well...Damn it CANCELING THE Ds!!!!!

  • Last Time Baby =(

  • Dude!!! this is awesome, i was fucking there....right under it when it passed between the hotels out to the ocean

  • @sw1tched for what year was this, and where da hell did the tomcat disapear too?? did gon in the second layer of the earth?? wtf. must of been awsome being there..

  • @xXF18DarkOWLXx 2006, Virginia beach right between the hotels on 24th st. One the most amazing things i have ever seen. i was directly under the flight of this video and jet. ME and brothers watched west to the sky and watched it circle around oceana air base until it was dark enough....it was like 3-4 miles away circling. Then, you knew it was coming as it turned toward the beach...i am so pissed that they still do this every year, but it's the gay f-18 super hornet....no where near as good.

  • @xXF18DarkOWLXx And yeah, after it made it's final pass, it went straight up and never came back down or into view, never even heard it again it went so high then flew west back to the air base

  • @sw1tched hey man lucky you man fighter jets are fucking awsome and the people who fly um are fortunate speed demons, i just noticed some mistakes on my previous comment ;) i ment to ask if it went of into the 2nd aymosphere or something because the jet literally disapears.. but any how thanks for clearing that up for me man.

  • Like the guy said,

    "Turn and fuckin' burn."

  • F'n beautiful.

  • I am long time fan of F-14 Tomcat. lately I started looking at web pages about F-14B/D dogfighting capabilities but I cannot find anything in particular. I'm in general interested how it holds against F-15C.I want to ask If anyone knows the instantaneous and continuous turn rate of F-14B/D at LOW and HIGH altitudes, and at LOW and HIGH speeds? How does it compare to an F-15C Eagle.

  • @dekiplav1

You might be able to find some info about exercises from the late 70s and early 80s about F-14As going up against F-15s.

From what I dug up, the Eagles use to spank them until they got the F-14A+(B)

  • @ironroad18 and guess what happened to the eagles when the tomcats did finally get the engines it was supposed to have in it? the tf-30 was not supposed to be the engines the tomcat was supposed to have, it was designed for the f100 from the outset, but due to production delays on the f100's the production model a's got stuck with the tf-30's

  • BeardedDragons247,

The Tomcat was retired QUITE SOME TIME AGO, considering your statement " the air force still uses them...". Why don't you get YOUR facts straight. Anyone who knows the least bit about military aviation can tell you that the tomcat was retired long ago.

  • @hh1n

The "Airforce" does supposedly use them, there are a lot of "Airforces" around the world besides the mighty USAF. ;-)

The Iranians supposed still have some, hence why the USN chopped/scrapped most the remaining F-14s so they spare parts would not wind up in the Iranian's hands.

  • ok the NAVY WAS THE FIRST to have the tomecat and you just made yourself sound like a idiot " although it did get upgraded to carry and deliver bombs as well " thats all im gonna say and im pretty sure my facts are better considering my uncle was a tomcat pilot but since they retired it he is now a super hornet pilot

  • look at mavrick and goose and captin snow from off of ace combat 5 the unsung war and last but not least schnee squadron of the belkan air force live on flying aces :)

  • O M G !

  • What Squadron?

  • one of the coolest tomcat videos i've seen!

  • I was there for this. In fact, I must have been pretty close to whoever filmed it. I was a kid watching the F-4's fly in from the carriers over my house in VaBeach but the Turkey is my favorite by far. I don't know much about it, but I always wondered what it would have been like for the Blue Angels to us the F-14. I guess they are to big to do the wing to wing thing.

  • They're gone now, BUT THEIR LEGEND WILL LIVE ON THROUGH YOUTUBE!

  • awesome vid of a great plane.

  • remains a relative cipher, a symbol. I saw this film free @ Movie Watcher [dot] US

  • A Pure Gem of a video Steve!

  • oh and sickorsky......... studying naval aviation??????? comics dont count im afraid!!!

  • @ Nickon, Very boring, very very very boring. Great Video by the way!!!!!!!!!! a classic warbird unfortunately the reaper comes for all of them eventually

  • Truly a spectacle... thanks for sharing this.

  • Clearly all of you morons know nothing of the Tomcat. First the cat was retired for maintenance and maintenance only. The F-14D is a Fourth Gen fighter. Also whoever said that the Super chicken is mach 2.2 bullshit, I have intimate details of that pos and it can barely break the sound barrier in a DIVE. The F-14 from conception was a Fleet Intercept fighter designed for cold war use. Only later did the bombcat come about. In case you want a REAL F-14 history lesson drop me a line.

  • Who you calling a moron?

  • Hornets by mandate, Tomcats by choice.......ANYTIME BABY!!!

  • @xTomcatsForeverVF84x hornets are what got forced upon the navy by politicians, as pilots we wanted the tomcats

  • Thanks to Dick Cheney, he is the very one that killed the Tomcat program. And because of him, the Navy has a newer but less capable aircraft than the F-14....stupid politicians and their fuckin dumb decisions. He didn't jack shit about the military, I wonder how he even got secretary of defense. Either way, he made a bad decision that the Navy will regret retiring the Tomcat in which Cheney had no knowledge about. But Tomcats will live in our hearts, and they will always own the carrier decks!

  • @xTomcatsForeverVF84x I dont think the Navy would build an aircraft less capable than previous ones. The Tomcat was built for a threat that no longer exists anymore. Welcome to 4th generation warfare. The Tomcat was to destroy targets at unbelieveable speeds using huge weapons. And the SECNAV will have to approve the retiring of the Tomcat. The only reason you Tomcat fans are talking about all this positive stuff about the Tomcats is because of the Top Gun Movie. You never look at the negatives.

  • LMAO sikorsky you never shut up don't ya? How do you know that those threats aren't possible? You can never tell what's gonna happen! The F-14 could do more than intercept, you know that damn well! SECNAV is overruled by the SOD dumbass. When did we ever state ANYTHING about Top Gun? Never! Every plane has negatives, but the Tomcat clearly is better than the Hornet. Oh and by the way, WE ARE IN 5TH GENERATION DUMBASS HAHA. F-22's, F-35's, does in ring a bell? pfft you are nothing but talk =)

  • @xTomcatsForeverVF84x Thats 5th generation PLANES. We are in a new type of warfare. 3rd generation warfare was fighting a state. 4th generation warfare is us fighting a GROUP of bandits. How do you think terrorists would get their hands on MIGs??? The only reason there aren't any terror attacks in the US right now is because the Super Hornets are bombing terrorist training camps. If we didnt do that, this place would be terrorized.

  • dumbass read your former comments, "Welcome to 4th generation warfare" And your comment had NOTHING to do with what we are talking about. God help you =)

  • @xTomcatsForeverVF84x I'm just telling you that 5th Generation aircraft is different from 4th generation warfare.

  • You have a knack for stalling conversations with rediculous ideas and comments. Just fuckin say it instead of making it so complicated.....shit man!

  • @xTomcatsForeverVF84x I was in the Navy for seven years. I know what I'm talking about. And the Super Hornet was designed to be faster than the regular Charlie/Delta versions. The E/F models could reach mach 2+. And how do I know? I've been studying Naval aviation since I was in High School.

  • seven whole years? pfft i was a pilot in tomcats for 17 years, and i flew the c/d model hornets for 2 years and yes the hornet is waaaaaayyyyyyyy substandard, and if you really studied like you say you would know that the tomcat from the outset was made to be upgraded from the 3rd generation fighter it started out as with the f-14a and the program was to end as a gen 5 fighter in the supertomcat 21 complet with all the radar absorbing materials and drastically reduced radar cross section

  • look man the hornet or superhornet cant get out of their own way mach 2 out of either of those airframes is a tremendous pipe dream hell for the a/b hornets to get past mach 1 they had to be slick and in at least a 5 degree max burner dive they could not even do it in straight level flight, put a drop tank on it and you can forget about the sound barrier unless you were in a 90 degree max burner dive, the c/d could at least get through the SB in level flight with a drop tank on the center line

  • @TheScrumpty Umm, sir, you said that you never flew the Super Hornet. But now your saying that you are? And how could you get from flying to the Tomcat, to the D model? No Tomcat squadron ever transitioned to the C/D models. And the D model is for the Marine Corps, never for the Navy. Its the C model. And there was no such thing as 'Super Tomcat'. Just Tomcat. I may have been in the Navy for 5 years, but I know a decent amount of Tomcats and Hornets.

  • ok stop now you are saying you were kicked out for not passing the advancment test for second class petty officer but you only had 5 years in service, my turn to raise the bullshit flag high no wonder you have given me so much shit, you dont have a clue to what you are talking about, my turn to tell you you never served in the navy, a 3rd class petty officer is not kicked out till he reaches high year tenure which is 10 years, not 5 years high year tenure for E-3 is 6 years want to try again?

  • and i never have flown the super hornet finally you quoted me right but i did fly hornets for a shore duty station and the d model hornet is not a super hornet the e/f models are superhornets and i never said i transitioned to the hornet it was shore duty and the only way i could stay in california was a hornet squadron in lemoore, and the f-14D is the super tomcat wow you really dont know what you are talking about do you? get ready for flak from this post you are all kinds of wrong here

  • @TheScrumpty You are completely right. Thats why we need to lobby the Department of the Navy to bring back the F-14s!! And get the Super Hornet which is so substandard out of service and replace it with F-14s! Bring back all the A-6's and A-7's. And replace the SH-60's with the good ol' SH-3s!

  • i was with ya right up to the point where you said bring back the a-6's and a-7's the hornet is a credible light attack aircraft keyword LIGHT but that is ok in todays combat with precision weapons the hornet can handle the bombing that needs to be done and why would anyone ever suggest bringing back the sh-3's the sh-60 is a far superior platform for the mission than the sh-3, just like the f-14 is a much superior platform than the f/a-18 can ever hope to be, what do you do for a living?

  • @TheScrumpty Well itsa shame the F/A-18 replaced the S-3 Viking last year. Burn hornets!

  • well that is brilliance, NOT, anyone still wondering why o retired this is why like the hornet could ever credibly perform the ASW mission, yeah right, it cant even perform the mission that it was built for exceptionally let alone any other missions but ASW please what next are they gonna try to have it do electronic warfare missions or early warning? hell why dont we get rid of every other type of aircraft on the aircraft carrier the hornet can do SAR also lets do it LMFAO

  • @TheScrumpty This justs proves that you are not a pilot, or had any military experience. The US Navy depended on the SH-60 Seahawk for ASW and the land-based P-3 Orion for ASW. It seemed more effective as a Helo to have that ASW position. Everyone should have known that. And respond to this, I was on VF-31, and no one on VF-31 and VF-213 retired. No XO, no CO, no one retired on 2006 after they transitioned to the Super Hornets.

  • just in case you missed out on that last post of mine i was being extremely sarcastic, i know the hornet can not do ASW it was a poke at the sikorsky person and i also know that the hornet can not do early warning or electronic warfare i was trying to make a point although sarcastically that the hornet is not the end all be all jet that boing is now claiming it is and that mcdonnel douglas sold it as

  • @TheScrumpty Okay, but you said that you were an XO in 2006 and retired because you hated the Hornet. NO BODY RETIRED!! Because I was in VF-31, and knew all the commands in the ship. Just leave people alone.

  • wow i did not know you were the career counselor for everyone in both commands

  • @TheScrumpty I'm not, I just knew who was the CO and XO of every squadron during the Roosevelt tour/deployment/cruise in 2006.
