  • the more I watch your videos, the more I feel like I need rope

  • this was very cool and creative but fish? there are very easier traps for fish using only one branch and a notch

    im sure you are aware

    cool vid :D

  • How do you get the rock over the branch of the tree?

  • @TheMightyPoopsteak you throw it

  • I really like this video

  • i wanna try that with a net...got some racoons that need removed

  • lol you should make an outdoors tripod for your camera

  • Nice stuff you show us!

  • what part of michigan? i lived between tustin and marion,

  • could you maybe make a vid of how to rig something that will smash a theif upside the head when he/she enters my garage?preferably, it would use 2x4 and be hung from rafters on the ceiling

  • i used this and got a great white shark, well.. it might have been a hammer head.

  • This is another one of your great instructional videos that my children and myself enjoyed watching and can't wait to try it out on our next survival trip. Will let you know how that works on fish and pest control around camp. Thanks again and good luck hunting this year as I read you enjoy it.

  • did you know fish live in water

  • hey thanks! me and my friend caught a toad in it. it was really gross because it was all squashed and stuff! xP bleh!

  • Nice trap, one should be able to make a very strong version of this trap

  • i fail to see how any fish would be stronger in his lips than the gravity of any rock you could hope to catch him with, or how he could ever hope to pull your stick out from between two limbs with such a weight as a counter-lever, just sayin' haha

  • That is cool, thanks.

  • nive vids

  • IM FROM MICHIGAN TOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! :)))))

  • Ingenious!

  • Simple picure of completed trap was more than enough for me to understand it. This is really good idea, thanks :P

  • Ummm......Aren't you ever afraid of bugs biting you and stuff? Or snakes? You can never tell what kinds of poisonous thing could pop up and bite you....

That's probably the only reason why I don't go ahead and trap a ton of fish and stuff......the bees and stuff just scare me where I live >n>

  • @ashikaru132 There's not very much that can cause real harm in Michigan except for the rare rattle snakes.

  • @Nighthawkinlight im from mi too

  • @Nighthawkinlight A fellow michigander

  • @ashikaru132 u need to just be a man and forget about the bugs and snakes..if its tym for u to go its ur tym God makes every thing happin for a reason

  • @wilizjacobson Ummm.......1, I'm a girl. I'm naturally unmanly. And second, I'm an Atheist. The whole God and Bible thing is a little too far fetched for me to believe.

  • @ashikaru132 well hey im sry for sayin to man up..and every thing...but hav a ever considerd beiliving in God cuz he's the only way to happiness and and evry thing u need and want in Heaven

  • @wilizjacobson I have, but the whole story is still too far-fetched. People can't come back form the dead. Nor can they live more than 300 hundred years. I don't believe in what I can't see or hear, and Heaven does not exist in my world. Really. If God says that those who do not believe in him must go to tell, then he's sending over half the world's population to Satin.

  • @ashikaru132 they dont come bak from the dead ther soul goes from being in ur body into Heaven..and they live for eternity in happiness and u hav ur own mansion and every one tht has passd away is gona be up ther unless they hav done somthin rong like murder or somthing in that order...and hes testing u to see if u believe

  • @wilizjacobson what does this have to do with catching fish??

  • @richkid89 it doesnt it has to do with helping someone into happiness and joy

  • @ashikaru132 Do you think if you told people 1000 years ago that now we have power to kill a million people in a split second that they would believe? It is simple, we just don't understand it yet.

  • @ashikaru132 you're just mad a man thought of it first lol have a nice life

  • @ashikaru132 if you live life not doing thing becausw what might happen you will truly never live...... in other words stop being a pansy and get out there and gitter done mate.

  • @nitroexpress700 But I don't wanna die.

  • @ashikaru132 dont worry there aint much that can mess ya up real bad if ya know what your doing... take a few survival out door courses if that help you build confidence

  • good idea first i heard of a fish trap ima have to try it thx

  • This is an awsome trap!!!

  • your awsome!! i idol you i went from pyrotecnics to nature. but im a pyro myself

lol took kornymagicians post and posted it on my post yay! what state do you live in? its really cool. i live in california in farming land so i cant try alot of the traps. i was able to make the trip wire snare though. it worked great. i wanted to catch my lil brother but i couldnt get a heavy enough rock lol. can you make a video of how to catch a cottontail rabbit in a pomagranate or orange field plz?

  • kool trap but if the rock went down with such a force wouldnt it rip the lip of the fish????

  • @fijiandevil You can use a smaller rock. You could also just bend the higher branch down and use it as a spring rather than using a counterweight.

  • @fijiandevil watch an american bass fishing programe those guys damn near launch the fish out of the water when they set the hook its almost comical

  • your awsome!! i idol you i went from pyrotecnics to nature. by im apyro myself

  • what type of tree is that??

  • @pryomation112 Cherry

  • I've seen like everyone

  • My trapping idol....... I subbed

  • @TheJehle96 Thanks a lot! Be sure to check out my other trapping videos. I have quite a few.

  • cool

  • Haha, I live in Michigan too. It really is a great place, with the changing of the seasons and all the great country. I live in the Southwestern part of the main peninsula, in a little town called Niles. I do all things that have to do with bushcraft in the next town over called Dowagiac. You familiar with either of these places?

  • @ManOfTheWoods123 I don't know the west side of the state very well.

  • what are you blathering on about???

  • @shonk1999 .... Easy done, throw the rope first with a little weight tied to it up to the branch you picked, tie the larger rock and lift it up to where you want. Done!!

  • work

  • hey buddy, me and my friend tryed this but failed because it was so hard to get the rock up in the tree whats the easiest way to get the rock n the tree? and when should i tie the "Trigger/Levor" on?

ps. got the rock up mid way of the tree to where i climbed up... couldnt get the rock to set inbetween the tree where i was, rock rolls off, got rope burn on my hands and back of my shoulder and arm pit :(

    Thanks

  • cool

  • @Nighthawkinlight aww dont worry bout him... think of it this way he is ALL talk but if you meet him face to face, oh yea you wont he will just lock the basement door at his mom's house so you can't beat him :)

  • Pret coo

  • @mikelang15 that should be "TOO" much weight.

  • Simple and effective looking trap, I appreciate your thoroughness in explaining it, there are so many similar videos that show how to make traps but fly through them or don't show/explain the integral parts. good job.

  • so damm simple and efective

how much height can be pull up?

  • @Blackfulgore1 It depends how high of a branch is used.

  • @mikelang15 Ignorant asshole what if he is or lives in the suburbs. Does it matter if he is? What because people are from a place doesnt mean they can not do anything. this is america

  • You're a true outdoorsmen sir!

  • nice video what type of cordage did you use?

  • Wicked Awesome Instructions brother! So many youth today could learn a few things or two from your videos. Great job putting this info out there for all to see.

P.S. Could you show a rig set up for trapping a 6 ft. blonde with double D's? I'd like to see that video!

  • Dude your a genious lol.

  • HEY someone who lives in state that i do MI

  • Ask a friend to film you because you can build with two hands!

  • I hope it does not rip the fish's scales/skin because of the force and speed of the rock counterwight pulling the huck up...

other than that...GREAT GREA GREAT trap love your videos!!

    keep em comin!

  • @jolderon2 i dont think he's talking about that kind of fish

  • you need to start traping some game to make relley sere your traps werk well

  • i love this trap

  • great vid man, just like all your others. keep it up!

  • Did you ever catch an animal with any of your traps?

  • This would be great for snapping turtles.

  • good to see that trigger-system. two things I would worry about are the friction of the cord on the tree and the force needed to release the stick - not to worry when used for large game of course but for small game and especially when used for fishing. you could remove the bark at the spots the cord passes and pay attention not to use a "hairy" cord or even better use a strong fishing line.

also important to avoid or remove the human smell form the bottom part or snair. thanks for sharing!

  • super .... show more of your triks pls ;)

  • Very nice tutorial.

  • would it work if i put a snare at the end and when the animal comes throgh and getsfased would the trap still work

  • The best fishing trick I ever got told was by a dodgy ex crim in Australia, he said in reference to a late night visit to a trout farm,,,, out of business hours.

He took a propaine gas cylinder, like the one's for your Barbi-Q, tie the fella to the end of a long rope and open the tap and drop it into the water, best if you are in a small boat, in the middle of the lake.

I've never tried this but he said the gas suffocates the fish and you just pick them off the top. Like I said DODGY!!,

  • how do u put a net on

  • this trap has inspired me on how to rig other traps great job thank you !!

  • Good video ! Thanks

  • is it illegal in some states cause i want to try and catch a fish that way

  • @kj40000 yes it is.....i dont know all of wich states but in arizona you may only trap crustations (however you spell it) for fish you must be at your pole at all times it is in the water.........i found that one out the hard way when i went to "use" a bush once without removing my pole from the water, as my luck goes, a game and fish officer was waiting to cite me when i returned to my line........

  • @cgspeeddemon1 k thx for the info

  • If this worked and you hooked a fish,if the water was deep enough the rock would sink and pull the fish over the branch and back into the water right?

  • @southernforever38 Yes. The length of the rope must be longer than the distance the rock will fall.

  • @Nighthawkinlight Or you could also have the highpoint in a why and another stick that would stop the rock falling at some point which would then prevent the fish going over the branch and back into the water right?

forgive me if im wrong and stupid lol..

  • @jolderon2 Overall it would be unlikely that the trap would be set up in a way where the rope would go over the branch. That would require the hook being very near the surface of the water in a very deep area. There is a lot of slack in the line from where it does not follow a straight line as its attached to the trigger stick. That slack should be enough that the rock can touch bottom without pulling the end of the line over the branch. If you did have a problem your idea could work.

  • @jolderon2 It's a Y, not a "why". The shape of the branch is the shape of the letter.

  • @Travels2477 The letter Y is spelt "Why"

  • @jolderon2 I think unless the tree is growing out in the middle of the river, or lake, you should be able to position the rock in a way that it will have ground under it.

  • awesome video

  • that preat darn cool i have never seen this trap before 5 stars

  • So this is what growers do with their down time....

  • i'm going to have to make one myself and give it a try. i like how it is a multi purpose trap for small game and fish.

  • Great trap very well explained. Thanks

  • @mikelang15: Seriously kid (I'm assuming you're a kid since you post nothing but video game clips), you remind me of my nephew. He spends all he free time in front of a Playstation yet feels the need to have opinions about everything everyone else chooses to do in life. Leave the survival stuff to adults with a desire to learn..you go shoot more PC characters in the head...dork!

  • @rlmarin1968 dont be mean to the kid he is just being a kid like me just because he like to play video games dosent mean he isnt interested in stuff like this, i love making traps and fishing and many other outdoors man stuff and if your are bored why not play video games there fun , i think he was being sarcastic when he said the thing about the suburbs and when he was talking about to much weight the animal would have to tug a bit but the pully like thing with the y of the tree counters that

  • I like the idea of the stone. A hanging stone can solve the bent branch related problems, especially if there is no branch to bent

  • exellent. i enjoyed this thoroughly. bt do yu think you would mind researchin not only traps bt native american tracking skill and also the trapping methods?(you see, i am an outdoorsman bt also a near-full-blood member of the EBCI) also i am a native to the nc smoky mtns.

  • exellent. i may not be the smartest when it comes to school type thngs but i am quite the outdoorsman.

i have lived in nc smoky mtns all my life but have hunted in minnisota whyoming sc ga alabama and montana.. not to mention a lot of nc. bt i enjoy your series and i understand ur frustraition with the jacka**'s that cause it.

  • so far all of your traps have been very useful to me. thx, and looking forward to seeing more. i live near a swamp so the fishing part isn't that useful to me but i also found that it works even better when u tie a ( camo painted ) 25lb weight to it instead of a rock. ( i can never get a rock to stay on the string ). but heres a challenge for you, can u make a trap specifically for swamp areas?

  • nice man. this is an awesome idea for small game and i imagine rigging a spring snare through the Y would give it a little more muscle when it goes off

  • cool video!!! i liked it...

  • sweet, you are a genius!

  • So many things rushing through my head from this video and comments:)

Mikelang15, Sit down son you just got ripped a new ass.

Yes, a camrea man would be very handy.

Yes, would fishing line work too?

And would you need a smaller rock for trout? due to the face it would rip there lips off:P

  • hey i like your vids tought me stuff ive wanted to know for a long time. thanks

  • Good video, I did this when I was a kid (30 years ago) and for some reason I just forgot about it. I would tie my sisters dolls to the end and what for the fun to begain, Dad would give me a LONG time out but it was still funny. Thanks for sharing it.

  • Cool

  • if they were a fish, it wouldve gotten owned and eaten for dinner. yum :)

  • Do you reckon using fishing line instead of the nylon cord would work?

  • sweet

  • A land fish will set it off?

  • very good we have used a similer set up with a water jug for the weight for river fishing

  • you should get a camera man

  • Great video, I cant wait to try this next time I'm camping. Thanks for the upload.

  • if u are camping or something its a great idea to add little bells to the end of the rock or stick so you can hear it

  • Subscribed

  • Cool video, i like the net idea with small game and the hook for fish.

  • lol it lokks to coomplicated than should be, its just that i problubly would have not been able to do it by myself :-]

  • i live in mi too and a few days ago i watched your video on how you build a tree spring noose trap and today i built it and it worked i didn't catch anything but it worked

  • i lke this vidoes

  • you can climb high

  • that is genius

  • awesome, can you do this with smaller trees?

  • @dj19265 Yes

  • nice but this one would be best used as a fishing counterweight great idea by the way and keep u the good work

  • did anyone tell you your a genius!

  • i really like all ur vids the one i like the most is the noose i have tried almost all the traps and they all work very well thank you

  • thank you so much this was awsome,

  • Kick ass rig

  • dude thats awsome

  • dude this worked great for me i caught a 2&1/2 pound catfish!! thanks

  • what nots did you use

  • That's a nice mechanism. Thanks.

  • I made one of these things for the red squirrels that are bugging us. I'm watching it right now!

  • would a smaller fish have the strength to pull on the rope enough to dislodge the stick? i must say though, that i REALLY ENJOY YOUR VIDEOS and cant wait to try some :D can u please show a video of some of the things you have caught? maybe you doing rounds to pick up your captures? :D that would be really cool :D thank you for these awesome videos!

  • @AddisonVideos The trigger can be set on the branch with just the very tip touching to make it more sensitive. I will not show anything I have caught unless I happen to use one of these traps on a backpacking trip. I never leave traps set unless I need the game captured for food, not simply for a video.

  • what if you got a smaller rock and used fishing line and put a hook so when the fis took a bite you got dinner

  • @Pyroman327 That is the intention.

  • thank you for the video could you make a video on the fish part more and with a net to.

  • @devildogsrule101st We shall see. Maybe in the future.

  • @Nighthawkinlight hopefully

  • I like your vids on snares because i actually understand it but i didnt have a chance to try any of them yet lol...

make ALOT more snare vids please *subscribes*

  • @nos0323 Thank you, I will do my best.

  • How long is the string? Might it be possible to tie 10 to 12 shoestrings together to acquire this length? Thank you for donating your AWESOME knowledge.

  • @itsmanofpopsicle It could be done with a single bootlace if the branches were close enough to the ground or the waters surface.

  • what part of michigan are you from?

  • Bear Gryllz would love you;) Thanks for the ¨trigger¨ ideas, its very usefull. If i set up like 3 fish snares and 2 or 3 for rabbits, i'm 100%shure my breakfast's hanging in a tree the day after;)

  • cool i mite use this idea wen im fishing

  • o my god u can catch ure noughbour with that!

  • very good video realy ^^ and very useful

  • oh and when a fish gets hooks then wont a animal come and eat it while its suspended. You probably wont get to it in time but idk

  • epic

  • dude you kick bear grills ass lol

  • @snower5554

Bear grills is a twat, I heard he stays in hotels in between day shoots of so called wilderness survival, MY ARSE!!!!!.

This dude is cool you are right.

  • @snower5554 no freakin way, but Nighthawkinlight is very good

  • What's up anyone looking at this right now

  • awesome man

you would make a great wildman!

  • This is a good idea EXCEPT that if a small sized fish grabbed the hook the rock would weigh much more and pull the fish up over the branch back into the water were you would have lost all your line hook rock and fish.

    Great Video though =D

  • @CrazyKidSmoker Not so. All that must be done is to be sure the line is long enough that the rock will hit the ground before the line goes over the branch.

  • I appreciated you taking the time to make this great video. The step by step, pointing out the benefits, and optional uses make your videos valuable.

  • Thank you for your comment

  • i like your vids

  • very nice I'll give it a try...it could be very helpfull in some accident tnx

    I'll subscribe too

  • Comment removed

  • you really are awesome thank you so much. i am very much an out doors person and love knowing how to do these kind of things in case of emergency situations. i subscribed

  • Thank you

  • It worked on my second try I caught a rabbit and a baby fox. I'm going to feed the fox and care for it's foot (I think it has a twisted ankle) and set it free tomorrow (I've never caught one before) but I'm helping Move rabbits onto a new animal reservation because they have been over populating even with our extended hunting season. (Hunting isn't fun with thousands of rabbits per one deer)
