on the app store a lot of people complain about the app crashing. I have an ipod touch 2nd gen with the 2.2.1 software. do you think that it will crash for me, because i don't want to spend 5 bucks and just have it crash
It is hard to say. It did crash a lot in the first version but EA updated it and it has been fine for me. Just when you install it turn off your touch and back on again before starting up Sim City for the first time.

just bought the app. been playing around building my own city but i seem to have a problem with the train system. i'll put the train stations down in different areas of the city and connect the tracks together but i'm not getting any fares from the train. eventually i get the message that sims are complaining about transportation and there is no way for them to get to work and i will still have no fares from the train. am i missing something here? how do i get the trains operational?

It's a good idea to have one near a residential area and one at an industrial are so they can get to work. If the track goes out of the way and a road is quicker they will take that option.
ummm....im having problems actually playing i mean it seems really fun but none of my electrical lines never give power to buildings...and i have the power lines near a powerplant but nothing has power....do i keep building it until i get somewhat population for ppl to work at the power plant or what?
To get power all you need to do is create electrical lines that connect directly to the power plant and touching the edge or in any coloured zone. That will work. As far as I know you don't need to essentially create a workforce for the power plant it just always works.
kool thx...i actually found it out my self cuz it was paused so i pushed play and it showed the no power sign and then i was like damn it....so i fast forwarded times 3 and all of a sudden i got power.....and do u know how to get the train stations working?

& how can i make a profit? im always loosing cash and i have already changed some settings but the lowest amount of money that i gave to the city was 40 i cant make any profits.
As far as I know cars, busses and trains don't actually show up in the iPhone version but they are still there.
Well making money is simple, you can raise all the taxes to 22% but then nobody will live there. It's a balancing game between satisfying your people and making a profit. Don't worry too early on as you need to stabilise your city.
Hey i bought the game and im addicted my city is barely growing.
now im having problems my fire station needs water how do put the pumps to go the fire station? i mean they are already below it but i cant make or do something to make the fire station have water. please help
i know how alot of people have had bugs with it so if i buy it and they come out with and update will it be free like the other updates are? or will i have to buy the game again?
All the updates will be free but if for some reason they release a new App entirely around the same theme like maybe SimCity: New Stuff then we would have to buy that app. However for bug fixes they will provide them as free updates to the game so you'll be alright.
well compared to the original full game price on the computer- then yes. However don't think this can replace the original as it's on a small screen and so not as easy to control. If you're not into simulation games then you might want to give it a miss as there are plenty of great games coming out soon e.g Need for Speed Undercover
no I love simcity, especially simcity3000, I played it a lot back then on pc and I love it so much. That's why I ask you if it's worthy the price, but 9.99 is kinda a lot to pay :)
I agree it is a lot but you seem the type of person that would appreciate it. Just think if you have the time (and patience) to play it on the go or a lot then get it. I thought the same thing initially but now in my opinion it is worth the money. Hope that helps.
well consider this... if u had a Nintendo DS and it came out with a game for sim city (like this one) it would cost like 30-40 bucks! so 9.99 is a great price because u get the same as the computer and its portable! im definitely getting it!

I do have 1 question though, is there graphic slowdown when the city gets bigger?
when you start the game you get to choose between a Small and a Large city size. I play small because it is more than adequate for my mobile needs and there is no slowdown. The large one seems ok but when it is quite big I've found bigger delays when moving between menu screens e.g choosing a police station to build. Thanks!

If you shake your ipod during game play you can type in cheats my personal favorite is " I Am Weak" which gives you everything for free.

Have low taxes. Have green residential zones. Have roads. Connect the residential zones to a power station and a water source. There

the population should naturally grow as you add zones. Lowering taxes normally makes more people come as well.

You pay for software. If you jailbrake your iPod you'll be able to do it for free.

by shaking your i touch it will show the cheatcode screen,and when you type "i am weak" you will get free thing only buildings,roads,land,ETC.

Houses/ buildings wil only grow on a zone when:
There is electricity connected to them (see comment below)
There is water connected to them (just connect some pipes to a water tower)
There are roads connected to the zones, I just put roads along the outside of the zone and that seems fine.
I'd also recommend the tutorial as that tells you everything you need to know for zones to develop.
