  • It always feels like Bobby Fischer doesn't calculate 10 moves ahead, but the whole game.

  • why not b3 rather than Re1 at 10:35?

  • I love watching Fischer play as black.

  • cool one

  • good job Sean!

  • WOW this was a game of character. Fischer was surely an astute player.

  • Superb video once again, thanks

  • Huh. So Sean Godley's still alive, eh?

    Welcome back.

  • this is my first comment in your channel even though I have seen almost your entire collection. I really enjoy your videos... I just wish you would update more often. Can't wait for the next video!!!.... greetings from USA Sean.

  • Really instructive video, from which the endgame reminded me of your lessons from Capablanca :)! Too bad Lombardy blundered, I was really curious about how Fisher would transform his advantages into a win.

  • shawn i love your vids man but i can never hear what your saying...

  • @shaddyrok - Turn up the volume on your speakers. :) Seriously, we can all hear him just fine.

  • I remember when I first went over this game it surprised me that Lombardi fought on as long as he did. It seemed very insulting towards Bobby.

  • I'm working on my endgames now!

  • @mraxeguy - The endgame is the most important part of your game to work on. Make an error in the opening, or the middle game and there is time and material to make up for it, but make an error in the endgame and that is usually fatal, as there is no time or material to give you a chance to make up for that error.

  • @JohnQuincyAdams1 well if ur dealin with someone who can make u pay for ur errors then wouldnt makin one at whatever time be fatal?

  • @THACREAMOFSUMYUNGGUY - Yes, but 99.99999% of us will never play someone with the incredible ability of Bobby Fischer. :)

  • I actually thought seeing sacking the exchange and going into the won king and pawn ending was rather easy to see. you are a very good chess video author.

  • Great, insightful commentary.

  • TY for posting these games of the 60s. A feature of Chess in the US at that time was a limited amount of "oxygen" for top chess players. Besides Bobby Fischer there was Robert Byrne NY Times chess columnist and WC candidate, Bill Lombardy who reportedly was feared by the Soviets more than Bobby himself, GM Larry Evans, and others. When Bobby became a Super-Star, it didn't leave much room for these other guys. There was no policy or funds to nurture talent.

  • Thanks again Sean. These are really great games to witness!

  • Excellent vid.

  • Like the games, like the analysis, like the format but most of all I like how YOU bring it all to life adding spice and interest to the subject. Great videos and I hope you have the energy and the enthusiasm to keep it up. I'm sure all those who have seens these, or who will see these videos, feel the same way. The chess community is enrich by the endeavours by people like yourself

  • @9Barry009 - I feel you are 100% correct. Sean has a great talent in being able to analyze chess games and put it into terms that everyone can easily understand. He is a great teacher and I feel he is gifted. I have seen most of the other chess channels on YouTube and although they are adequate, I feel they pale in comparison with Sean's Killegar Chess channel. Sean is a bright light to the entire chess community and we should all spread the word about this channel to make it even bigger. :)

  • @JohnQuincyAdams1 Sean is excellent, but check out Claus Jensen!

  • @bierbuik - I personally think Sean and his Killegar Chess channel are much better. :)

  • @JohnQuincyAdams1 Hard to say who's better, but I think Sean would be first to admit Claus is a better player in his own right so that alone makes him worth watching. Sean has his merits too though, as you can feel his passion for the game, and me and him share a love for Bobby Fisher games!!

  • @JohnQuincyAdams1 yes,,this guy is good

  • @JohnQuincyAdams1 You realize he analyzes the games using a chess engine, right?

  • @KingThorn00 - The analysis is provided in Bobby Fischer's book. Further analysis can be provided by a no-imagination computer yes, but those moves many times aren't the best moves. "The best move is the one that upsets your opponent the most" - 27 year World Chess Champion Emanuel Lasker.

  • So great. I love these videos. I love the format. Thanks for showing the alternatives

  • seanggodley, there is a free much stronger engine then fritz with a really good evaluation mechanich and its the best engine named houdini. (it beat rybka 4 in a 50 game match i belivie) its free and would stomp fritz in a match completely.

  • Thankyou Sean, that was amazing, very instructional example of activity over material, just a few king moves deciding the game ! an important lesson that i would have missed without the comentery, thankyou again !

  • I really like these. short and sweet with just the right amount of analysis

  • Great vid.

  • Is there any games left where Fischer lost?

  • @jsplayer18 Yeah but his winning perentage was over 70%.

  • video added 3 hours ago and already has more than a 100 views !

the numbers speak for themselves Sean - please make more !

    cheers

  • Hey Sean, I've stagnated in my chess ever since you were gone! Your videos were the best way for me to learn in the past, it's so great to see ya again. <3

  • Coffee + Sean = A good morning

  • Again, Sean, a wonderful video. Very glad you are back on youtube.

  • Great game. I always enjoy a good endgame.

  • Great way to exchange one endgame advantage for another, I'll have to keep that in mind....

  • That end game exchange was amazing... Looking at the position there is no way I would have seen a 7 point advantage
